I will be a regular customer here : ) 8/16/2011

Finally a mechanic I can trust! I have long been wary of taking my cars to mechanics because it's hard to tell who'll rip you off. Lucas Auto Care treated me with respect, talked to me like I was intelligent, and they did great work. They even gave me a ride home. Now my old Jeep is running like a charm. Took it back a second time to have some minor things looked at. They could have easily taken me for a ton of money for what I asked them to look at, but instead they did one small thing and it was only $55. I will be a regular customer for now on. more

Comfortable 8/16/2011

I needed my car looked at, not knowing exactly what needed done. I am new to the area, so I decided to use City Search to help me find a place to take my car. Lucas Auto Care had two great perks in that 1. It had WONDERFUL reviews, and 2. it is mere blocks from my apartment. The evening I planned to take my car for a quick peek happened to be the same day I had a staff meeting that ran very late. I called Lucas Auto Care, explaining I was on my way, but was stuck behind traffic (this would be an hour ride home rather than a half hour). I called again when I was a few minutes away (5 minutes before they closed). They told me to come on in and they would look at my car. I was very relieved, and drove on in. The man working there was wonderful. He looked at my car, explained what was going on, then showed me exactly what was going on with my exhaust system. After a rougher than I would have preferred day, this place made my day. They let me come in close to closing, they took their time past closing to explain my car situation, explain what needed done, and gave me recommendations on how best to take care of my car, my time, and my wallet. I had a great experience here, and am pleased and comforted to have found a place I feel comfortable taking my car. more

I heartily recommend this business. Thanks! 8/15/2011

I cannot recommend Lucas Auto Care any higher. Their technical knowledge is beaten only by their patience. I don't say this lightly. I had a number of issues with my 2002 BMW M3 which could not be solved either by the dealer by my house, or by the previous independent auto servicer in Clear Lake that I used to use. Among other little annoying issues with my car, ANTON in Lucas Auto Care figured out why my cruise control didn't work above 58 mph. Patience and skill. One of the other servicers above had the car for TWO WEEKS and couldn't sort this problem out. I heartily recommend this business. Thanks! more

Volvo Owners! 8/15/2011

Lucas Auto Care is also a great mechanic shop for Volvos. I've been going here for the past 4-5 years and the quality of repairs and maintenance service matches that of any Volvo service department. They won't charge you $60 for a part then $200 for ""an hour of labor"", like I've experienced at the dealerships. They are trustworthy mechanics who are definitely honest about the necessity of repairs. more

my own personal mechanic 8/13/2011

Going to the bodyshop is like going to the dentist. You have to go, you don't want to. That said, I'm so happy that I finally have ""my own personal mechanic."" Tyger is the first car pro that I truly trust. Very professional and the work that he does is first rate. Unfortunately, I had to see him a few times in the past year. Every time they got the job done -- at a fraction of the hassle, stress and cost as I've previously experienced with other repair facilities (not to mention the dealership where I bought my car). Trust is the most important quality when you visit a repair shop. I completely trust and admire the guys at Lucas. I hope I don't need to see Tyger soon, but if there is even a little rattle or shake on the car, I'll be at Lucas Auto Care. Thanks guys!!! more

Hubby and I agree! 8/13/2011

My husband and I are so happy we found a great shop for our cars. We've been taking both our vehicles here since November '10 and we have always been glad we chose Lucas Auto Care Some things my husband likes about the place: The owner, Tyger, is upfront and honest. You don't feel like you are getting ripped off here. He will tell you what repairs your vehicle needs but doesn't push anything on you. However, we appreciate that he tells you what NEEDS to be fixed because of safety reasons. Prices are reasonable. It's never fun spending money on repairs and car maintenance We've recommended this place to some of our friends who have brought there cars here and they too have had good experiences. more

I am so happy I found my mechanic. 8/12/2011

This is the most important review I have ever done. You see, I grew up fixing my own car. If I couldn't fix it then I brought it to my mechanic. He was my buddy. His shop was clean. His work was impeccable. I trusted him. Finding a new mechanic was harder than finding a doctor for my unborn child. I am not sure why, but whenever I think about letting some greasy hands touch my car, cold fear circulates my body and paralyzes me. So when I got to the point where I absolutely needed repair (still preventative) I came to City Search for my research. It is here that I conducted the first round 'filter' of quality auto repair facilities in the Houston area. I found Lucas and the reviews were rave. Now that doesn't mean much in the scheme of things, but at least it is a place to start. Once I found my finalists I placed some screening calls. Tyger (owner) from Lucas picked up and his friendliness was comforting. And you know what? He wouldn't give me an estimate... He passed my test. People don't understand how important this is. This is like a doctor giving you a script without seeing you. My first experience of Lucas was strictly of the 'discovery' nature. I drove over and did my rounds: checked out the cars, the building, the location, the condition of the front office, and the smell of the garage. The smell of the garage was the perfect combination of floor clean solvent, oil, and exhaust (reminded me of my old mechanic). The waiting area was clean and the wall posters were up to date. So far so good. Lucas was busy as hell and they told me it has been that way for a better part of the all years they have been in business. Good sign? Well here is my theory on this. You don't survive in this business for that long doing shotty business or ripping people off... this tells me they do quality work and they move cars through. So I handed my key over before following up 24 hours later (sometimes you have to go with the flow. In this case I knew they were swamped). I got the diagnosis and a quote. I told them to go ahead and fix it. He said it would be done by days end. It was. I am impressed - that was a lot of work. When I went to pick it up, it was even less than he quoted. I love that. I'm not saying that will happen every time but it just proves that they are looking out for their customers. Oh and the repairs? So far so good! I am so happy I found my mechanic. more

three basic tenets 8/12/2011

The best shop I've been to in my 18 years of going to mechanics across the USA. Tyger runs a tight ship, is straight-up honest with you and more than satisfies the three basic tenets: - He won't do more work on your car than it needs. - He won't keep it for longer than he needs to. - He won't charge you more than what should be charged for parts as well as labor. Hit up the shop sometime and you'll quickly see he's fast-talking, fast-working and has a sharp sense of humor. But you also see that he cares that he's doing the right thing for you. He knows cars and can explain them. And if you need parts he gets them in fast. more

Happy working car, happy girl:) 8/11/2011

One of the most annoying problems to have as a girl is car problems. Why? Not because we aren't capable of getting it fixed or understanding what is wrong with it when a mechanic explains it to us. But for the sheer fact that most of the time, we get screwed at auto repair shops, simply for being a girl. So what's a girl to do? Wait around for our fathers, brothers or boyfriends to take our car in and get a decent quote? If you want to take matters into your own hands, there is a better option. Take in your car to Lucas Auto Care. My Toyota Rav 4 started having problems with its breaks a few weeks ago. Every time I pressed on the breaks, my whole car started shaking like it was in the middle of an earthquake. And on top of that the wonderful ""Check Engine"" light came on. My last straw came when I tried to come to a stop at a stop sign and it made crazy noise and didn't come to a complete stop. I finally had it and decided that I was going to rely on the City Search community to point me in the right direction of a good mechanic....and with five stars; I decided Lucas Auto Care must be good. I met Ashleigh, the service manager, (a fellow girl!) and I can't say enough great things about her. She is so nice, helpful, and explains things really well. On top of that, that girl is so happy. She's always smiling! Turns out that my car needed new rotors and break pads in the front; And one of my sensors in my engine had gone bad and needed replacement. I had a mild heart attack when Ashleigh told me the diagnosis; mostly because I thought it was going to cost me an arm and a leg. However, she quoted me a great price. I even called around a couple of places to compare. All the shops I called were more expensive. One shop was very close to Lucas. Ashleigh laughed when I told her this and she said maybe they should raise their prices. I begged her not to! It took them a day to fix my car and they even threw in a free oil change. I will for sure come back to Lucas Auto Care any time I have problems with my car. Go there. Save yourself a headache. Car problems are less frustrating when you are dealing with good, honest people. Enough said. Happy working car, happy girl:) more

Darn Punks Thanks Lucas 8/11/2011

Its always fantastic to see your car window has been violated by some punk . Its even more of a shock, when the day comes that your car has been broken into that the sprinkler system has watered the interior of your car. Waking up to the early morning of 5 am, I was in a panic, for not knowing if they more

Thank You! 8/10/2011

I chose this shop out of the 3 choices our insurance company provided us purely on location. I am very lucky that I did. From the moment you walk in my wife and I were welcomed with a smile and a nice cold beverage on a warm day. We were there to get an estimate and the owner happened to be the person helping us. He took one look at the car...walked to get a tool...next thing I know our door is opening and shutting again. No charge. Thanks to him we were able to cancel our claim. We were amazed with the integrity of the business. Our insurance agent also spoke with him and our agent was also surprised with what had just happened. We plan on going back if we need any work done to our cars. Thanks guys! more

BEST EVER 8/10/2011

Usually, a trip to the auto repair shop is as far from a pleasant experience as you can imagine. At the very least, it's not typically something you look forward to. Well I just picked up my car and I'm already looking forward to my next trip to Lucas Auto Care Lucas Auto Care is open until 7 pm on weeknights. So when I called at 6:54 pm on a Monday night to alert them that I was a brand new customer on my way to drop off my screeching car (no brakes or rotors left) without an appointment, I was shocked 1.) that they answered 2.) that they were friendly and 3.) that they said ""come on by!"" I arrived (a few minutes after 7:00 p.m.) and they kindly explained to me that they would be closing shortly so my car would be looked at the next day. I said that was fine and they said they'd give me a ring in the morning. I was shocked when I looked at my phone at 9 a.m. the next morning and already had two calls from the guys (they open at SEVEN). They quickly explained the damage (shot brakes and rotors), recommended some additional services (the oil change I was overdue for and new tires, which I'd never gotten on my five-year-old car). They quoted me a fee for the brake job that was $300 less than the dealership and $200 less than another local auto repair shop had the last time my brakes gave out. I gave them the okay, and they said they'd have my car within hours. By 3 pm, I had a voicemail saying my car was ready. With new brakes, new rotors, and an oil change, My car was ready to go. I will never, ever, ever go to another auto shop in Houston. Additionally, I've now recommended them to everyone in my family, who all live in the neighborhood. BEST EVER. more

Audi and Hyundai 8/9/2011

Listen, it is so hard to find a good mechanic they is honest and out for your best interest. THESE ARE THE GUYS! I can't agree more with everyone on citysearch about these guys. We have an Audi and a Hyundai, they do great work on both of them. Timely, Low Cost, and Quality...almost unheard of when you try and say those words with Mechanic! Don't take your car anywhere else! more

Quick Service 8/9/2011

I called yesterday to bring my car in for an oil change and basic maintenance. I dropped it off this morning and by early afternoon Tyger called me to come get the car. The price was very reasonable, as it always is and I am a very happy camper. A general service technician even pulled the car out of the lot for me because it was kind of a tight spot. I could have done it myself, but he extracted the vehicle with ease and I would have had a much harder time doing it. I have brought every car I ever owned here and will continue to do so. Over years of doing business here I have always had good service, fair prices and quick service more

Very friendly 8/8/2011

I found out about Lucas through this site when I did a google search. First of all, Gary was very friendly over the phone and even gave me an estimate (and he stuck to it!). I had to get my breaks serviced. I called my dealer but price, service, and wait time beat them by far! more

highly recommended 8/8/2011

Lucas is the best auto repair business I know in Houston. Not only have they never let me down in any way in several visits, they've gone above and beyond for me and my Jaguar on two separate occasions. The first time, my check engine light was on and the code was the dreaded random engine misfire, which can be many things. They spent at least a couple hours (and probably more based on when they called and what they told me they checked) and only charged me for two hours. The mechanic also spent a lot of time on the phone with me answering my many questions and was very patient. The second time, my brakes were squealing and grinding and I knew I had to get them worked on immediately. They are pretty much always booked for at least a few days, and when I called they said that they would take me in as soon as possible. I had my car back the same day Everyone at Lucas is nice, helpful, skilled, and entirely honest. They believe in doing things the right way, which includes things that some, might not agree with - like replacing brake rotors. It won't always be the cheap way in the short term, but I'm OK with that and long term it's probably better anyway. All the work they've done on my car has been done right the first time. As mentioned, they take time to explain things. They don't find extra things to charge you or surprise you with. They don't try to tell you that you need to fix things that you don't need like a dealer (Don't even get me started on some of the dealers around here! Uggh! The stories I could tell...). Overall, highly recommended dealer alternative! more

Super Nice 8/6/2011

I had taken my car in to another place when it wouldn't start and they told me that the battery was on its last legs (although they initially told me the starter was probably the issue). I wasn't surprised as it was the original battery on a 2004 car. I thought it was odd though that they told me the battery was dead only because when I tried to start the car, the radio turned on. Anyway, I left the original place and the car was fine for about a week and a half. At that point the car didn't start again, but after trying a time or two it was fine. I chalked it up to a fluke until it didn't start again a couple of days later. Fed up with the place who just changed out my battery, I turned to City Search to find Lucas Auto Care I was able to start the car eventually to get it to Lucas, that they would try to diagnose the car straight away. I was more than happy to leaving the car with them so they could figure out the actual problem rather than just fixing stuff that wasn't really the source of the problem (like the last place). When the car actually didn't start for them and they were able to figure out the actual problem very quickly. They explained the problem to me from beginning to end and they gave me options on how to proceed. What you should know about Lucas Auto Care: Expect them to talk you through what is wrong with your car. They won't treat you like an idiot and they will be very helpful when giving you options. These people are super nice and I fully intend to go back the next time I need service to my car. more

Dealer Alternative 8/6/2011

Only taken my car here once. I'd been a regular customer of Louetta and while I liked it alright, I really had no idea what everyone was gushing about. No one there was extremely nice or helpful, though the prices are definitely fair. But this isn't a review for Louetta is it? After taking my car to the Dealer, the guys there tried to scare tactic me into get all new brakes and new axles. The guy told me it would be at least $900 and I HAD to get it done if I wanted to drive my car more than a couple more months. Jerk! Plus, I was there for an oil change (ONLY reason I go there) and they didn't even remember to switch off my oil light. Again, not a review for my Dealer either. Geesh! Back to Lucas's. I called and told them that I thought I might need some brake work (the brakes were soft) and I wanted them to check it out. Three days later I dropped the car off. Turns out my old car did need some work (brakes and calipers, but the cost was about $300 less than what Dealer quoted me. And, they took a lot of time to explain exactly what was wrong and didn't pressure me at all to make any of the repairs they suggested. I love that. I was able to pick my car up the same day and so far it's running great! I will update with other experiences as I need them. more

Make my car drive straight! 8/5/2011

Oh. Oh my. I know many things. Anything accessible via Google is my purview. But when my car started drift off towards the left, and I didn't understand why Everyone has an Achille's Heel and mine is anything remotely car related. So, of course convinced that I was gonna bang into a wall somehow, I hopped on City Search and found Lucas Auto Care very highly reviewed. Aside from that it was also nearby and they had a towing and pick up customer service. Sold. I called on a Tuesday and came in that afternoon near 6ish. The Lady service adviser at the front desk was efficient and quick! In a matter of moments I was leaving my car to get better. before I left the service adviser let me know that that I needed an alignment, couldn't have been nicer and offered me the price to make it drive straight again! I took her advice, thinking and praying this work would be done quickly. When I asked her about an estimated time line she told me that they'd have it done first thing in the morning for me. OKAY! This is my new place for all things car related. They couldn't have been nicer. Way to go Lucas I hope not to see you for a very long time. But will certainly look forward to our next meeting... more

Power Steering Flush 8/5/2011

I brought my car in for a Power Steering Flush after it my steering had been iffy lately, I had read up about them before taking it in, praying that I wouldn't have to do anything extremely expensive, well, I took it into this place to have them flush it, and then when I drove it home the steering was a lot better. more
