Great selection and prices. But the front desk staff is soooo rude. Talking to management does no good. They are just full on rude hateful people. I will spend more to get treated with respect. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 10/30/2013

I have used this office twice previously and service was just good enough that I tried a third time. This was an unfortunate mistake on my part. My husband had an eye exam and chose glasses. He was then told that because he used insurance instead of paying cash, it would take 7-10 days to receive his glasses. They said if he would have paid cash he could've had his glasses in 1 hour! When he picked his glasses up he told the technician that he couldn't see well with them and that he needed prescription checked. The technician told him that he would have to try the glasses for a few days and if he didn't get used to them, to come back. Needless to say, he couldn't ""get used to them"", and took them back. A different optometrist checked the prescription and said it was wrong. The glasses were reordered and my husband was again told he would have to wait 7-10 days. He was told the glasses were being shipped on Friday and that they would be in on Tuesday. On Tuesday, the glasses were still not in and they were not in on Wednesday either. On Wednesday he was again told that the lab was ""shipping today and they will be in tomorrow). At this point, my husband has not had glasses for over 3 weeks!!! I have called the insurance company, which told me that the provider has the choice of whether to send prescriptions to outside lab or not and it is not an insurance requirement, as my husband was told by office staff at Zoellner's. This is the worst experience I have ever had with an optometrist and I have been wearing glasses for 38 years! I have never written a complaint before on anyone, but this definitely required one. I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN. more

After dealing with both locations and spending in excess myself of 3,500.00 and almost 1,000.00 with my wifes this has to be the worst customer experience i've ever had. they have phone natzi's who argue with customers, refuse to let you talk to office managers and after making me take a second exam and pay for it screwed up the prescription so bad I had to go back to the original prescription to see, which there never was a problem with. they are rude to customers, poorly trained and in every invoice they have sent I found ""honest mistakes"" per their words and then they corrected it. 3 for 3 makes me think they do it on purpose and most people just pay. Dr Z if you are out there why wont you take your business a little more hands on ? why do you refuse to return calls ? I have left at least 6 phone calls for you to call me over your staff and then get some staff member told me that they get so many complaints if you answered every one you would never get off the phone. What I have done and highly recommend this to all if you have to deal with. get the crezol on the len's and then call in every other week for new len's as there is no limit on how many times you can get replacements and maybe if enough people reach in his pocket he will either pack up or start treating people right. If you have any other options not to use this eye care even if more expensive go with it unless your time is worth nothing as this place will cause you headache. and Dr Z. my name is Irven B**** and im in your system, call me and ill tell you why I wrote this. more

I've used this office before with mixed results. A couple of times they were very nice and a few times they weren't. The first time I went to them I was in bifocals (at the time I wasn't but abot 25 years old). I had to tell them that and then they didn't believe me until they looked at my glasses again. The doctor insisted I didn't need them and refused to put me back in them. That was years ago. Yesterday I took my son in for an eye exam because he's been having bad headaches. The doctor got really rude when he determined my son didn't need glasses. He treated me like I wasted his time! I had a legitamate concern. I wear glasses, my husband wears glasses, my mom wears glasses, my brother wears glasses, my mother-in-law wears glasses, just about everyone in our families wear glasses!!! I had bad headaches until I got glasses so yeah, my concern was legit. He will NOT be going back there ever again.\r more

I'm lovin it 5/2/2011

Made an appointment for a Saturday afternoon. This was ideal for me and my family because my husband and I both work during the week. I was greeted with all smiles by the front desk. I was seen by Dr. Blystone. He was very thorough during the whole exam process. \r \r I wanted to get both glasses and contacts, but I don't have vision insurance and I could only afford to get one or the other. \r \r Before finishing up with the contact lens girl I was told that If I did want to get a pair of glasses that day that I would get a pretty good discount. I decided to meet with an optician and I picked out a nice designer frame. \r \r They had a 1 hour service so while waiting on my glasses to be made I walked over to the mall, shopped around and had lunch...what a great location! \r \r I have to say that my experience at Dr. Zoellner's office was so wonderful. Everyone is so friendly, the prices are unbeatable and I had everything that I purchased on the same day! \r \r I will continue to do my eye care business there and pass the word on to my all of my friends.\r \r Thanks Dr. Z! more

A convenient eye care option 1/22/2011

After reading a few of the reviews on here, I would like to offer and more intelligent and balanced approach regarding my personal experiences at Dr. Zoellner's office. I have been visiting Dr. Zoellner's office in south Tulsa since 2003. I simply chose this for my eye care needs because it was quick and convenient. Even when I didn't have vision insurance for a while, it was still a decently priced option for my eye care needs. Just recently, I visited the midtown location for the first time. First off, I will agree that the teenage staff who run the administration side of the business are lazy and un-motivated at best, but not all the time. They have never been rude, however they have usually not been too cheery either. But, I did enjoy the service from the staff at the midtown location rather than the south town location. In fact, I would highly recommend one visit the midtown location over the other. All in all, it's always been quick and easy, regardless of an appointment, or walk-in. The doctors have always been great, especially Dr. Swift at the south town location. The only critique is that the girls who work the front desk and the contacts area need to a lesson in professionalism and courtesy, but for the most part they aren't too shabby. Like I said, I've been going for a while now and will continue to visit Dr. Zoellner's office. more

Dr. Zoellner & Assoc Inept & they don't care 10/17/2010

At the beginning of the school year, I stopped by Dr. Zoellner's office at 69th and Memorial. We ordered glasses for my 11 year old. She picked out a pair of green Ray Ban frames. The girl who took our order looked to be about 16. She said ""Your insurance covers Transitions lenses do you want them?"" I said yes and we picked out gray for the Transitions color. They told us it would be 7-10 days before the glasses would be done. Dr. Zs office called two days later and said that the glasses were ready. I was actually happy with this as school was starting but wondered why it only took 2 days instead of a week or more. My daughter liked the glasses, but I noticed that they never changed color. I called Dr. Zs office and explained that I didn't believe that they were Transitions lenses. I was told that they would reorder the lenses and would call me when they came in so that they could just be popped in to the frame without my daughter having to be without glasses for a long time. Well two weeks went by and I called and asked about the new lenses. I was placed on hold and forgotten. I called back and explained the situtaion and was told that an optician would have to help me. I was transferred to a voice mail and left my name and number. That was a month ago and no one ever called me back. \r Part 2-My daughter left her glasses on the end table and our dog got hold of them and chewed them up. I called Dr. Zs office at 30th and Harvard and explained what had happened. They said that the frame was under warranty and to bring them in. I was feeling hopeful again. We took the frame in and I explained that I didn't believe that we got Transitions lenses like we were supposed to the first time. A tech there tested the lenses and confirmed that they were not Transitions. When I told him that I had called and called the other office and never received a call back, he said ""That doesn't surprise me"". We were helped by a tech named ""Becky"". She was really nice and said that she promised that she was going to take care of us. My daughter wanted the same frame as before and it wasn't in stock so Becky ordered it for us. We were happy. We thought that we were going to get a new pair of glasses just like they were supposed to be in the first place. We went by to pick up our new glasses today and what do you know? They were not the right frames!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We ordered green frames and these were blue! The guy there today said ""are these OK?"" I explained that they were not and when he looked at the order form, he said ""Oh, yeah they transposed the last two numbers of the frame when they ordered it"". No apology, no nothing. He is supposed to reorder the frames that we wanted originally. I'm calling Becky tomorrow and telling her that this is their last chance to get this right. I've had it with these people. Don't ever go to either one of Dr. Zs shops for glasses. Glasses are too important to leave up to fools and people who don't care. \r more

I wouldn't recommend this 7/6/2010

I went here because without insurance $99 sounds like a good deal and solution to my eye care needs. WRONG! I was told I may have to see an ""oncologist"" due to a spot they found on my eye. I, of course, got really scared and so opted to spend the money to get a second opinion. To my surprise, I found out that the spot on my eye was a cataract, probably one I've had since birth, that is in no way affecting my vision. The second surprise, both my glasses and contacts that were prescribed by the ""optometrist"" at Robert H Zoellner & Assoc, were wrong. I should have gone to a real doctor in the first place. The $99 deal is not worth it. Pros: Its $99 Cons: Unqualified staff more

What an Eye Sore! 4/22/2010

I bought my glasses at Dr. Z's after hearing them advertized on Christian radio, thinking I would have an experience with nice, caring knowledgeable people. Nothing could be further from the truth. After receiving a completely botched up prescription I went in to inform Dr. Z's office. The girl at the desk tried to charge me for another dr visit, I explained that I already had my prescription, they just needed to correct it. I'm not sure if they were having a bad day or what, very poor attitude. I waited and finally got to see an optician. They admitted their mistake and offered to correct it. I decided to add the anti-glare to the new lenses. The first optician was very pleasant and helpful, checked my glasses and told me that they had cut over half of my reading area out of my lens, plus my point of vision was off to the left of my eye, not centered. She told me the price would be $61 for the anti-glare and that I would be without my glasses for possibly 10 business days so I wanted to make sure that I could find my old glasses and came back the next day. I arrived the next day, again was told the price was $61 by another optician, when I reached the desk to pay, the price had increased by $20. I inquired why, they explained that they ""mischarged"" me 3 months prior. I asked them why I was never notified, I got another excuse, something to do with insurance. I did not pay. I went home, called my insurance, explained the issue hoping to go somewhere else. CIGNA told me that I had to go back there to have the problem corrected, they were upset that I had been treated in such a unprofessional manner that they cut me a $20 check to cover Dr. Z's incompetence. (CIGNA ins. is very cool!)\r Went back to Dr. Z's, price had gone up $14 from the week before. I paid... I needed my glasses corrected! I was told that the order went in on the 2nd & would take 7-10 biz days. I called on 20th, ""not in, the 'LAB' screwed up, will put a rush on them and have them in before 23rd."" I called on 22nd, I was told that the order just went in on the 20th, I will have to wait another 7-10 biz days! I explained that I have a receipt stating that the order went in on the 2nd, the girl offered no explanation, just that they went in on the 20th. I am STILL WAITING!!!\r \r The opticians had a helpful, caring, apologetic attitude, the girls at the desk were snotty, uncaring and very immature. \r I certainly will not be going back to Dr. Zoellner's and would recommend that others be very careful of the product they receive if they choose to do business with his office.\r \r I happened to have a friend who makes glasses with another company who checked my glasses for me. He informed me that instead of giving me a 2.25, I got a 2.0. He said that if they are out of a lens, they may go higher , giving you a stronger script but never lower. \r \r After having gone through all this with Dr. Z's office, I have had several other people tell me of similar experences with his practice. My only regret is that I did not do my homework and research Dr. Z, if I had I would have never gone. There are way too many blogs with bad reports! \r It Pays To Do Your Homework! Pros: Location, hours Cons: Incompetence, Immaturity, Attitudes more

Extremely poor professionallism 3/23/2010

We unfortunately visited Dr. Z's twice. First time they did both me and my wife to which my glasses were so terriblly unmatched to the prescription I brought them back unwearable and after much complaining got my refund. Wife's $700 glasses were a joke in the fitting and the tech made no efforts to correct nor offer a solution. After hours of waiting and being there 4 times for one pair of glasses we gave up and kept the glasses.\r We were really stupid for going back for a second try thinking maybe it was just a bad experience. My wife wanted to try contacts. After an inept exam and the techs again running us through like there was only ten minutes until closing (middle of day, so no), they handed my wife contacts and proceeded to tell her to just put them in. After asking for help repeatedly we finaly got a poor excuse of a ""contact specialist"" who was of no real help other than to 'force' the contacts into my wife's eyes. After the struggle we left and within hours my wifes eyes were swollen and unable to get contacts out. \r I called and was told to buy a solution to rinse the contacts out and ran to a pharmacy and that did no good. By then the office was closed and the next day we took my wife to another doctor who removed the contacts and was told the process was all wrong.\r Dr. Z needs to get off the horse farm and back into the office and see what his inept staff of people are doing and not doing. \r I tell EVERYONE to STAY AWAY and run as fast as you can in the other direction unless you want the risk of eye damage or at least improper eye glasses.\r He embarrases me as a fellow Christian to run such an operation. Pros: Convienent Hours Cons: Inept techs, rude staff, unprofessional at best more

Find another Dr. 3/1/2010

Wife and I chose Dr. Z. because of convenience and the fact that he is within our insurance network. Got a Sunday appointment. Reception was indifferent, not rude but not pleasant. Waited an hour before we saw the Doctor. The tech that did the initial testing was a bit impersonal as well. Dr. was very pleasant. However, she did complain that I did not a have previous prescription to help her with her job. She seemed to have a difficult time with my exam and was very rushed to finish. Wife's exam was a breeze. Step 2 was to be handed over to the tweeny staff. The girl did not seem to know anything, kept needing help. Did not seem to care that I had never had contacts and had questions. She just starred blankly at the computer. Got my wife's contacts and my contacts ordered. Now we have to go to another table and order glasses. Next girl was more uncaring than the last. All in all we spent 583.00 after insurance and left very disappointed. Week later we get a call that my contacts are in. Go to pick 'em up. Waited 20 minutes before helped. Asked about wife's contacts, they forgot to order them. Asked about my glasses, they forgot to order them as well. They did, however, forget to mention her glasses were in. So we left with half of what we needed. Now we wait until the rest arrives, whenever that is. I get home and put my new contacts in. Left eye is great, Right eye I am blind!!! they screwed the prescrip up so bad that I can't see anything at all, no exaggeration. Call them to get a re-check. Same cattle car service. New Doctor seems to have figured out what was wrong, although would not tell me what was wrong, and reiterated that the previous doc had no prior prescrip to go from. Ordered new ones, told it would be 4 weeks??? Was going to make me pay for new ones!! When I said no way, she said they would work it out to where I didn't have to pay.!? So now I wait again with no glasses and now no contacts. This place stinks. They obviously rate quantity over quality. My advice is to find a real eye doctor. Pros: Convenient hours and locations. Cons: Lots of mistakes. Overall a poorly managed business. more

Clever marketing campaign 2/23/2010

Not a great experience. When I walked in, the three at the front desk were not very friendly and all looked like they were having a bad day. The waiting area was clean however and nicely designed. I completed the paper work and was led to the back to begin the exam. One of the three from the front desk did a few tests before the doctor came. He was not very talkative nor friendly as I stated above. Next after a few minutes Dr. Blystone entered, said hi, and did not introduce himself (front desk told me his name). The doctor then completed my exam quickly and did not ask me any questions nor if I had any concerns about my vision. I was out of the exam in roughly 8 minutes. I needed new glasses and the eyeware tech was polite and helpful and didnt try to push expensive frames. Bottomline, I will not go back to Dr. Z. They have a clever marketing campaign but the customer service and patient care are severely lacking. The business model seems to center around sheer volume, running as many people through as possible, instead of quality care and service Pros: Clever marketing campaign, nice facility Cons: Customer service, patient care more

Worst business in Tulsa! pt 2 10/18/2009

I recently made the mistake of trying out Dr. Zoellner's office on 71st. I heard the ad on Christian radio and decided to go in because they took my insurance. I waited several minutes to be acknowledged by the girls at the front desk who were socializing and finishing up their texting. I wasn't greeted with a smile and made to feel a burden as they shoved the paperwork at me. I sat down in their disgusting waiting area chairs until the girl called me back to the counter telling me that they didn't accept my insurance. I opted to proceed with eye exam and try out the $99 deal. I waited 30 minutes for the doctor only for him to spend about 3 minutes rushing through my exam. I was then quickly scooted to the glasses floor where I was told someone would call my name. I asked where the glasses in the $99 deal were and the girls at the desks in the middle briefly paused their conversation to point in the general direction. Amidst their poor selection of discount frames I found a pair that would suffice. My name was called (incorrectly I might add) by a tall dark haired man who instantly told me he did not like my selection and scooted me the Juicy Couture frames that I could not afford. He pushed me so much on this one frame and became disinterested when I said that I didn't think they were right for me and told me to continue looking for myself (even though I had already found the pair I wanted) while he scurried over to help a young blonde girl. After about 15 minutes of pretending to look, waiting for him to come back & help me he once again pushed the Juicy frame. I told him that if they had accepted my insurance that it wouldn't have been a problem. He raced to the front desk and I waited another 15 minutes for him to pull it up (something the front desk girls couldn't manage to do). Because he was able to pull up the insurance I told him I would get the Juicy frames trusting his professional opinion. While he was helping me his cell phone went off and he rudely made me wait while he took the call. When he got back he told me all about his life in California and alluded to anyone from Oklahoma being as dumb as a rock. Overall, I was dissatisfied with the service, ended up spending more than I wanted to, but convinced I was getting the best. My glasses came back the first time in about 2 weeks. I was given the run around on where they were until two girls finally found them. I put the glasses on and they were undeniably too strong for me and I couldn't see out of the no-line bifocal. I was told to give them a try for a week and come back if I still couldn't see and I instantly began to get a headache. I told the girl who had cleaned them off that I didn't like them and felt pressured to get them and she said there was no way I could change the frames because of my insurance. I went back in to get a recheck with the doctor who rushed just as quickly as the first and they sent the glasses back with a new prescription. I waited another 2 weeks for them to come back and I still couldn't see. The girl this time who helped me gave me the impression that she didn't believe me when I said I couldn't see and refused to give me a refund, saying that I needed to get adjusted. I’m now stuck with glasses I don't like that I can't see out of & tried calling the office manager Kylie, but she was always ""out"" and never returned my calls. I will never go back to the rude and incompetent ""Christian"" staff of Dr. Zoellner's. I recommend that you pay a little bit more and go to a business of quality and integrity versus paying less and having a horrible experience. I doubt that there was a streak of good service in the 2 weeks span that the bogus reviews show below. You get what you pay for, and Dr. Z's is proof of that. Cons: everything more

Dr. Z's on Harvard 7/5/2009

I had the greatest experience at Dr. Zoellner's today! The front desk was friendly and eager to help me, the doctor was patient and took her time and the girls in the back helped me pick out some cute Versace frames. Overall a very good experience! Pros: The staff was very helpful and patient Cons: I feel bad that they have to work on Sundays :( more

Dr. Z's for me 6/22/2009

You can't beat their prices anywhere else in Tulsa for good eyecare service-\r And if it's always busy you know they are doing something right! I had a great experience. Pros: prices and convenience more

Just another patient 3/27/2009

I read the reviews way too late! I had an appt there today and the entire time I felt like they couldn't care less that I was there. The exam felt rushed with no explanation of the procedure. They were not friendly at all! Although, they seemed to be having a good time amongst themselves. When I went to pick up my glasses later the girl was rude and never actually took the time to acknowledge me...she even tossed the pen at me when it was time to sign for them. Sadly I have to go back bc the frames are uneven and need to be adjusted, lucky me. :( Pros: convenient location Cons: lacking simple customer service more

Not Impressed 3/23/2009

I dealt with one decent employee out of 5 that i had to interface with. I spent over $300 plus my insurance paid well over $750. Don't you think $1050.00 in customer should be treated a little better than just another pain in the azz? I felt the service by the youthful staff was not even close to personable and the fact that management was hiding upstairs probably was the worst move possible. Dr. Z better get this group in line as this day and time the service will be the only thing that helps businesses stay in business. Pros: Quick Cons: Service more

They did it again... 3/19/2009

In my previous review, I stated that I'd be switching doctors for my next exam due to the lack of professionalism and competancy of the teenage staff. Meanwhile, I still needed to reorder contacts for the next six months. Well, I did and guess what--they ordered the wrong ones! more

Like herding cattle 2/9/2009

I've been going here for a couple of years, but next time I need an eye exam, I'll be going elsewhere. There is NO personallized service whatsoever. If you enjoy feeling like herded cattle, then this is the place for you.\r \r Obviously, this place is geared toward 16 year olds. I don't think anyone on the staff is over 21, all the ""techs"" spend more time talking to each other than the patients, and if you try to do something simple like, say, order contacts, you'll likely be put on hold multiple times while they ask someone else to walk them through it. If you imagine that the staff at Incredible Pizza was suddenly hired by Dr. Z, then that's pretty much what it's like when you walk in there.\r \r If you want a specific example, I had a recurring eye infection that they tried to treat 4 times before the treatment finally worked. I was charged (or they attempted to charge) a different amount each time I went in for the same type of visit. Any time I would question why I had to pay anything, they would suddenly reverse the charge. Kind of scary.\r \r I will say that I liked Dr. Blystone quite a bit, and I'll miss him when I go elsewhere, but it's not worth everything else you go through just to get to see a doctor who may or may not be the one you get to see.\r \r Oh and one more thing--this is the first doctor I've ever been to that makes an established customer prepay to reorder contacts.\r \r Dr. Z may be a great business man for marketing to teenagers, (he wins the Urban Tulsa popularity contest every year--he even has it on his website!) but I think I'll go somewhere where I can get some real medical care. Pros: The young staff are pretty good looking / conveient locations. Cons: No personalized service. They treat you like cattle. The prices aren't any better than anywhere else. more

just a number 1/20/2009

just feel like a number 1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory\r Edit Review? By Joe W.\r \r The exams are not thorough. You feel like just a number, not a patient. The assistants are rude and inept. They've lost both mine and my daughters records. I have some major eye issues that they missed. I didn't find out about them or receive treatment until I went to a real eye doctor. They gave me a wrong Rx for contacts that made that condition worse. Please don't go here if you care about your eye health!\r Pros: good selection of frames Cons: inept staff, hurried docs, more
