OMG I'm soooo happy!!! I am pleased to say that my experience in finding my 1st apartment with Rapid Realty was an awesome one! My Rapid agent made the whole process easier than I...

Worst

KEEP YOUR WORD!!! If you say that your going to give deposit to landlord in good faith, do it! Don't pocket the money....Apartment hunting process went well until that point and I...

positive does not = fake 12/17/2008

hey jonathanbrooks,\r \r i understand why you might think that. but i don't agree with you. i got an apartment with this company, everything went fine, it was positive, bla bla. that's not the only reason im writing.\r \r i did want to comment on your saying that you think the reviews are all the same person. doesn't that seem a little silly? you have been in this office - you may have had a bad experience, but, weren't they really busy? who's gonna sit down and write all these reviews? that's nuts! especially when all those guys work on commission! \r \r another thing; after i signed the lease at rapid, my agent (who happens to be silvia, like the other reviewer there) asked if i wouldn't mind writing a review about my experience on citysearch or yelp. it's likely she asked the same of them, and they just posted it on both.\r \r i get that youre angry about having a bad experience, but that doesn't mean that people who had a good experience don't have legitimate opinions. just sayin. more

unbelievable 12/4/2008

I have been reading reviews on this company and took an interest in it since I went through a bad experience with them, but didn't take the time out to post anything here, but I just cant take it anymore seeing them use this forum to their advantage. Very simple, Read all the reviews and you can tell 80% of the good reviews have been writ en by the same person. I find it amazing that for example, the last review posted on them was on both here on yelp and on city search, and that people that never posted a review before suddenly decided to go through the trouble of joining both sites and posting their reviews. WOW what good fortune for Rapid Realty and its owner. more

They did get us a great apartment 12/4/2008

Like many people, we first contacted Rapid because we had seen an apartment we particularly wanted on their website. Unfortunately, they do not keep their website up to date, so the apartments we most liked had either already been rented, or were not yet available.\r \r The first three realtors we dealt with were not up to finding an apartment with our fairly picky criteria, and they weren't always good about showing up for a meeting, or keeping in contact with us so we could know what they were planning. And since we were trying to maximize the time we had available for our apartment search, if a realtor wasn't available when they said they would be, we'd call the office and ask to be shown the apartments the previous realtor had said they were going to show; somehow, this kept ending with us seeing a bunch of apartments that didn't meet our criteria, so it was pretty much a waste of time for both us and the realtors in question. That said, they were friendly, and we never felt like we were too picky, or wasting their time.\r \r Even better, we finally wound up with Silvia, a senior realtor. It was amazing the difference this made. Silvia only scheduled three apartments for us, since she had paid attention to our criteria, and didn't want to waste any of our time. The first one was too small, but the third one was absolutely perfect, and in our price range. Unfortunately, Silvia had been sick that day and let another realtor show us the apartment, but we definitely give her the credit for knowing exactly what we'd like, and making sure we got to see it!\r \r I agree with the other posters that Rapid's offices can be a little over-stimulating, and that it can be frustrating to see one thing on their website or in their ads, and be shown something totally different when you go out to see apartments. But the workers really hustle, and they do their best to find places that will work out well. Pros: Enthusiasm, willingness to work with our picky criteria Cons: The newer realtors can be a little flaky more

young business with a lot of energy and inventory 11/13/2008

the title sums it up for the most part. why do we have to write titles? \r \r anyway. the rapid realty office is definitely very young - everyone seemed to be under 30 for the most part. that means that they have a lot of pep though, which is nice when you're dreading dragging yourself around to look at apartments. \r \r also - they have an outrageous number of apartments. they're all over the map price wise, of course, so its not like every single person will walk in and immediately be presented with 30 perfect apartments, but there's definitely enough for most people to find what they're looking for. more

Just because you don't have a good experience, it doen't mean they're scam-artists! 11/8/2008

I have worked with the fine people at Rapid Realty not once but twice, and can tell you that they aren't scam artists. And honestly, that's just a silly thing to say. Yes, I had a great experience with them - both times. Once, when I moved to Brooklyn eight years ago and their business was tiny, and again this September (when my landlord sold our building and I had to give up the best apartment ever). So, I have zero to complain about when it comes to this company. While I sympathize with people who feel like they've been screwed over, it's really almost slanderous to call them scam-artists. The place wouldn't have been in operation for so long, have so many apartments to rent, OR be fully licensed (look it up, people, it's on the department of state website, and it's totally legal!) if they were trying to scam people. Pros: Friendly, Fast Service, lots of apartmetns and price ranges Cons: some apartments do have broker fees more

Do not use this company! 10/27/2008

Rapid Realty uses very shady business practicses. They will say anything to make you believe youre getting a good deal, or that you're even getting a deal you originally agreed to. They are rude, unhelpful, and undereducated. They clearly have no clue how to run a good business. And the only reason they survive is because there are so many people in NYC.. once they scam a 100 people, sadly 100 more unsuspecting fools walk through Rapid's doors. \r \r Please safe yourself time, MONEY, and a lot of aggravation and go somewhere else. Pros: Nothing. Cons: Liars, Sneaky, Unprofessional, CON-artists more

upfront about the whole shebang 10/22/2008

i guess since this company is growing quickly (i used them to find a place with my ex 3 years ago, the operation's gotten much bigger since then), there might be more room for mistakes (might account for some of the bad reviews... sometimes one person can give a place a bad name). overall, though, i really enjoyed working with these guys. it's hard to find a four bedroom in brooklyn for a reasonable price (yep, living the bachelor life again), but they found us one. the ad for the place said no fee, and we didn't pay a fee. the paperwork process was a little tedious, but they have to be thorough (especially with 4 dudes under 30), i understand. everything else was quick, easy, and seemed really solid. this is the second time i've used these guys, and i'll use them again. more

Either they're malicious, or dumb 10/15/2008

But I'm guessing it's the former. They tried to charge us a fee for a no-fee apartment. I argued, they didn't charge, but then acted personally insulted that I was conducting a business transaction wherein I looked out for my own best interests. (I believe it was mentioned that I had a bad attitude. I tend to, when people want to charge me thousands of dollars more than the agreed upon price.)\r It's the same old bait-and-switch routine other people have mentioned. They'll talk out of both sides of their mouths, play good cop-bad cop, lie, harass you on the phone until they decide to ignore you, and then tell you they did you a favor.\r From what I could tell at the lease signing, the landlord had a similar story.\r I've lived in NYC for a long long time, and I thought this sort of behavior was going away. But I guess it's not. Thanks, Rapid, for keeping the tradition alive! more

The old ""Bait and Switch""...with attitude 10/8/2008

I, along with 4 other people answered an ad for a secretarial position with Rapid Realty. The ad clearly stated they were looking for secretaries/receptionists, and nothing about ""agents."" We were all called into a small glass room at the same time to listen to a speech about the ever growing company, and how much money can be made by showing apartments. Annoying loud music was coming over the speaker at the same time; I suppose as a distraction. One of us asked about the position advertised, and he said NO ONE can be a receptionist or anything else there until they take the courses that they give upstairs and get a real estate license. He added that they pay for the course. When asked over and over again, about the position advertised, he (David) caught an attitude and said he knew nothing about the ad. I asked if he thought it was ethical to misrepresent, in print, what they are looking for, in an effort to get people to work as agents. I mentioned the old ""Bait and Switch"" and he was getting angry. We mentioned that it isn't fair to get people to come to their office, people who are in need of real jobs and try to pitch them a different position. At one point he said,' There's the stairs...down and out."" He wanted us to go. more

They are recruiting agents for apartment rentals and nothing more. When one girl asked why she would need a real estate license to answer phones, he actually said...""Because the receptionist closes the deals."" WHAT? I know that their hiring practices are unethical, so I would certainly wonder about their real estate practices. When showing you are not really interested, they catch serious attitude and try to throw you out. Nasty place, cut throat people...Stay away. more

Rapidly alienating customers... make sure you have a plan B with these guys 9/14/2008

I was interested in one of the online positings listed for this firm (it was even one with a fee!) and I contacted the representative the ad said had the listing. I was interested in this listing because a couple of months ago, the condo that was listed was for sale and my boyfriend LOVED it. We were not however, in love with the price. It would seem neither are other buyers as it has remained unsold up to this incident. When I saw it on Rapid Realty's website priced in a range I could afford, I jumped right on it. I called and had three separate conversations with D'Anthony whose cell phone came up Trevor on my caller ID. He confirmed the information. I agreed to see the condo with him. When I arrived at the condo PICTURED in the ad, I was told to go over two buildings. I was not happy. The ad I responded to was written for a ""penthouse, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a washer/dryer, a patio and an elevator "". The fee was one month's rent. When I arrive I was surprised to find that my broker thought I was imbecilic enough to believe the second floor walkup with Washer/dryer hookup, one bathroom and no patio was the same unit. His answer? Well someone must have just copied and pasted another listing over by accident. So I said, Fine, where's the number for the broker that listed the one you copied? He called the office and said that it was an error. How do you mistakenly copy a listing that isn't yours and put it on your website? He didn't even offer to apologize which pretty much sealed the deal for me on the fact that he had every intention of trying to pawn me off on a completely different apartment. Pros: Couldn't say Cons: Inadequate job performance, blatant attempt to defraud more

For those of you that put up with that cr@p, shame on you! You make it harder for everyone -- to everyone else, try em if you want but leave yourself time to turn around and walk away.
