I, along with 4 other people answered an ad for a secretarial position with Rapid Realty. The ad clearly stated they were looking for secretaries/receptionists, and nothing about ""agents."" We were all called into a small glass room at the same time to listen to a speech about the ever growing company, and how much money can be made by showing apartments. Annoying loud music was coming over the speaker at the same time; I suppose as a distraction. One of us asked about the position advertised, and he said NO ONE can be a receptionist or anything else there until they take the courses that they give upstairs and get a real estate license. He added that they pay for the course. When asked over and over again, about the position advertised, he (David) caught an attitude and said he knew nothing about the ad. I asked if he thought it was ethical to misrepresent, in print, what they are looking for, in an effort to get people to work as agents. I mentioned the old ""Bait and Switch"" and he was getting angry. We mentioned that it isn't fair to get people to come to their office, people who are in need of real jobs and try to pitch them a different position. At one point he said,' There's the stairs...down and out."" He wanted us to go. \r
Rapid Realty is falsely advertising for positions they do not have. They are recruiting agents for apartment rentals and nothing more. When one girl asked why she would need a real estate license to answer phones, he actually said...""Because the receptionist closes the deals."" WHAT? I know that their hiring practices are unethical, so I would certainly wonder about their real estate practices. When showing you are not really interested, they catch serious attitude and try to throw you out. Nasty place, cut throat people...Stay away.
