i had a similar ""experience"" with Mr Bell. He's a crook and a ""small little"" bully. When my husband and I bought a kitchen set from Lauers.......I specifically asked that I not get the floor model that was in the store and that's exactly what I got!!! The floor model had some imperfections in it and I wanted a brand new one. I paid almost 1500. for it and this is many yrs ago.\r In the course of my and my husband trying to get the store to honor our wishes.......Mr Bell called my husband at work and threatened to have him killed if he didn't stop complaining. I called the police as well as turning him in to BBB. The BBB said they get constant complaints about this idiot!!! Don't buy ANYTHING from this man. He's NOT an honest guy. more

This nightmare started May 17, we\r Bought a sofa and love seat. We were told we would have it in three weeks on the fith week we still didn't have it ,after trying to call the so called manager several times we were told we would have the furniture on falling Saturday between 12 & 4 We waited till 6pm. Having to go out we left my adult gr. Son to wait. Never got a phone call from the store. When we arrived home we were told it arrived at 8pm. When I went to look at it I was so up set I cried, it was not my furniture. Not only that it was damaged.after several weeks they came to pick up the sofa with a replacement and guess what the leather was torn and they tried to cover it with marker ! Needless to say no one will answer my calls and it's been another 3 weeks. They have a big surprise coming! If you don't want to get screwed stay away from that place they call a furniture store total wait so far is 3months. Someone from the store called few days ago wanting to set up appointment to repair thr furniture ! Right it coast me 4000.00 and I bought damaged furniture? I gong think so. I'm going to do everything I can to put them out of business! more

I stopped by York Furniture today to check out some their selection. They had a huge show room and some really nice set up areas for me to look through. The staff was nice enough. I would return. Their selection of recliners was pretty amazing as well. more

18 months after buying a couch from another company, it broke in half. We went shopping for a new couch along west henrietta road, and we had no idea what we wanted, but we knew we wanted it to last longer than 18 months, and didn't want to spend thousands of dollars. We saw a few nice couches at other stores, but nothing we really felt great about, We ended up at York, and our sales man was fantastic. He wasn't just out for a quick buck, he actually took the time to explain the warranty to us. Apparently, our couch comes with a 10 year warranty, and we got it for around $700. It is made and assembled in America, which is hard to find anywhere, especially for that price! The moment we sat on the couch, we could see and feel a significant difference between our ""old"" couch and the new one. It was night and day!! I'm glad we found York, and I would recommend them to ANYONE who wants a higher quality couch that won't break the bank. more

Horrible experience with the owner of York Furniture, Lawrence Bell. He threatened to call the police because we went in to personally (and reasonably) talk to him about our dissatisfaction with our purchase, which had been misrepresented in the catalog. He was threatening us with a raised voice, and really didn't care about our complaint because (and I quote Mr. Bell here), ""I have millions"". Very disappointing, as we were repeat customers and had never had a problem before. We sure won't be going back! more

NEVER EVER SHOP AT THIS STORE! My mother who had just lost her husband went in to purchase a new bedroom set. They did not have any in stock, so she ordered one from the catalog. After over a month of run around about how it was ""on the way"" and that they would ""put a rush on it,"" she was told that it was no longer available. Now they refuse to give her her money back, insisting that she must pick out something else because THEY DO NOT EVER GIVE ANY REFUNDS EVEN THOUGH THEY CANNOT DELIVER THE FURNITURE SHE PICKED OUT AND PAID FOR AND SHE DOES NOT WANT ANYTHING ELSE. She also does not want to wait another who-knows-how-long (they cannot even tell her how long she may have to wait for any other merchandise) to be delivered. ABSOLUTE SCAMMING CROOKS! The sales associate NEVER TOLD HER THAT ALL SALES WERE FINAL. The ""manager"" claims to have no power to return her money; he's the ""good guy."" Apparently the ""comptroller"" is the only one with the power to release the contract, and he says, ""Absolutely not."" HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE WAY TO DO BUSINESS SCAMMING AN 82-year old senior citizen who had just lost her husband. THEY NEED TO HAVE THEIR DOORS CLOSED FOR GOOD. CANNOT GIVE IT A LOW ENOUGH NEGATIVE RATING. She made the purchase in early October and still no merchandise or money returned at the end of December. Now the manager claims to have found something ""in the warehouse"" that she may like. She wants absolutely NOTHING from this useless business EXCEPT HER MONEY! STAY FAR, FAR AWAY, and BE THANKFUL YOU DID NOT SHOP HERE! more

DON""T GO THERE!! DON'T SIGN ANYTHING. THEY GET A ZERO RATING FROM ME.I went into York Furniture beginning of the year,ordered a couch and love seat, told the salesperson I needed to make sure it would fit in my house. When I called back and hour later I was told all sales are final.\r I talked to two employees the following 2 days and was then told I could come in anytime and spend my 200$ deposit they that it was none refundable. When I went in to see what I wanted to buy, I was told by Larry (manager) that the contract is still valid and I have to purchase something at the value of 1800.00 or be taking to court. Larry didn't care that there were other customers or employees standing around and he berated me.\r There are no refunds and no cancels on any orders. I'm a signal mom and can't afford to have this credit bill. Now I have to purchase something I don't need or can't afford.Reading the back of the contract does state the store can cancel the purchase, but they won't and they are very rude when you try to talk to them. \r I have work retail for years and have never treated anyone or have ever been treated they way they did. I do not recommend this store to anyone and will tell everyone I know. The power on the internet will also help me get the word out. I have read other reviews that people had the same problem and me and I think it poor business, can't see them staying open with such poor ethics. more

BUYERS BEWARE!!! All sales are FINAL! Something that was never addressed or explained to us until after our purchase was made. Even if you call within 4 business hours to inform them that the piece you just bought wont' fit- their position is: to bad; so sad.\r \r We emailed them and left a VM message shortly after closing the same day we made a purchase- stating that we had a problem, and that we had to cancel our order. Our purchase was made on a Sat., 6//07/2014; the very next day we went to the store to confirm the cancellation; asked for our check back, which they still had; informed them not to process our Credit Application. We were told, ""NO"" on the check and that, ""All sales are FINAL."" However, they were ""willing to work with us on purchasing something else."" We really didn't want anything else and if the furniture would have fit, we wouldn't have cancelled the order.\r \r I don't blame any establishment for wanting the sale; however, their position on an unfortunate situation became unreasonable and even hostile. The overall experience in the end was not pleasant. After informing them both verbally and in writing that we would STOP PAYMENT on our check, they still tried cashing it. After we informed them NOT to process our Credit Application- they still processed it, which they placed a pending transaction for $3,000 on an item that was cancelled; will never be ordered; let alone delivered to our home. I had to call GE Capital to close the account; who, apologized and agreed it should have never been processed. They also informed me that should their retailer force the transaction- I would still have to go through the Dispute Process for verification, etc. As of Friday, 6/13/2014 the store hasn't forced the charge transaction. Based on their conduct to date- mot likely it will happen. Hello, NYS Attorney General's Office....... \r \r What fair and reasonable establishment would go to such lengths? These people, without any doubt, are modern day SCOUNDRELS. And for those of you have forgotten what a scoundrel is, perhaps these descriptive words will help: unprincipled, a dishonorable person; a villain; a crook; a liar; a thief; cheaters; scammers; vagabond. \r \r Now, this true story doesn't mean that they may not have a good deal for you, I'm sure they do- just remember this: BUYER BEWARE!! \r \r Overall Sales Rating: a negative five (-5) out of a possible 5 Star Rating. \r \r Ron Swanson\r Canandaigua, NY more

Buyers Beware 6/9/2014

Short Version: York Furniture uses hard sell tactics that ended up being a very BIG mistake and a BAD experience for us; so, BUYERS BEWARE; or, at the very least BE SURE on what you want and what you're getting. \r \r Long Version: on Sat. 6/7/2014 we were pleasantly met by Kathleen Vullo. We informed her that we were just looking today for a sofa-sectional and that we'd be making our decision tomorrow. She was clearly knowledgeable about the business and helpful; but, she completely ignored my wife’s concern that the unit wouldn’t fit. Being sure, I said it would (typ. male). We both liked the unit; but, also stated that we were going to continue to look. All of sudden a better price was given; but, we remained set on leaving.\r As we started to leave we turned around to look one more time. This is where the Mgr. Larry Bell comes into the sales process and gives yet a better offer; but, only good for today. We both like the product and it was a very good price. more

I purchased a couch and love seat from this place in April of this year, note that it is now only October. This past weekend I noticed 2 different places where the leather is actually rubbing off of the couch. The spots are right where the recliners hit the floor as they are pushed back into the sofa. Remember - this is LEATHER. It's supposed to be durable. The delivery guys had to actually take the sofa apart to get it into the house. Fast forward to me calling to talk to somebody about the warranty that we were told over and over again, by some pushy woman, was a 1 year full warranty. Anything rips, tears, breaks, falls apart - just call and they will take care of it. Well here I am - with a couch that has leather completely rubbed off and the woman at ""customer service"" (if you could call it that) told me to that ""obviously pet damage is never covered. i don't care where you shop."" Guess what?! This isn't pet damage - she just assumed so. Then she told me to take a picture and email it to her so they can determine how to proceed. They will know how to proceed when I go down there this weekend with a not so happy significant other. For paying over $2000 for these stupid pieces of furniture, they better make this right. \r \r Oh, and have I mentioned that I will NEVER, EVER, be purchasing furniture from this store again? more

DO NOT SHOP HERE - \r I ordered a power chair in January. The chair I ordered from the show room had a button on the side of the chair to control the footrest to go up and down. When the chair was delivered to my house it had NO power button, but instead it was a POWER CORD with a hand held wand to operate the chair. I told the drivers to take it back, doesn't matter if I special order the material or not - it is not what I ORDERED. I ordered a chair with a button on the side, that is what I saw and sat in on the show room floor. The drivers got the owner (Larry) on the phone, and he asked me to please keep the chair here because the movers had lots of stops, their truck was full. At first I said no, then I felt bad for the drivers and told Larry yes, and asked when it would be picked up - he said to call the office they will set it up for Thursday. The drivers left the chair, I called the office to schedule a time to pick up and was told WE DON'T PICK UP SPECIAL ORDER CHAIRS!!!!!!! 4 TIMES I call Larry, he would NOT CALL BACK. Finally he did call and said he would NOT take the chair back, it was a special order. Yes the material was, but the actual chair was not the correct chair. THE OWNER IS A LIAR, HE HAD NO INTENTIONS OF PICKING UP THE CHAIR AFTER ASKING ME TO KEEP IT FOR THE DAY. The customer service people are down right RUDE especially Amy. The Sales person, returned my call once and had NO excuse other then that is how the chair comes! THE ONE ON THE FLOOR HAD A SIDE BUTTON NOT A CORD WITH A WAND! \r \r I am now in the process of contacting a Lawyer. This owner and the employees all LIE and are all as RUDE as the owner ! more
