Best local pub for Irish music 9/2/2006

We just got back from a trip to Ireland. And we miss it. Tir Na Nog is doing a great job at filling in the gap until our next trip back. Best spot in the Triangle for live Irish music. every weekend. and extra kudos on a great pint. Pros: Great Irish music. Great pints of Guinness & Smithwicks Cons: more music on Thursday and Sunday would be a plus more

Cool idea! 8/29/2006

I heard about Tir na nOg on 100.7 the River talking about Local Beer Local Band Pint Night on Tuesdays and figured that I would give it a shot. First of all, that is a really cool idea! Each week they get a local band to play and feature a beer from North Carolina on draught for $2.50. If you are one of the first hundred in the door, after 7 I think, you get to keep the glass!! The inside of the pub has that old Ireland feel to it with an actual cottage built inside the building - which was pretty neat! I found the staff to be pretty attentive and the food to be pretty good! For all of you looking for a Tuesday destination, I would recommend this one. Pros: Friendly staff, food, music Cons: They only had Strongbow Cider and not Bulmers - not a major complaint more

Never Again 8/26/2006

I've eaten at Tir Na Nog twice. The first time, the service was slow and the food was average, but I liked the atmosphere and the music. So when my friends and I were planning to attend an IMAX movie across the street one night, we showed up to Tir Na Nog two hours before movietime so we would have plenty of time to kick back and relax with some Irish brew before heading over to the movie. Two hours later, we had only gotten our drinks, and had to rush out the door and literally run to the theatre to make it to the movie in time. Our food never came, and the waiter wasn't apologetic - just very matter of fact about the kitchen being so slow and our food still not showing up. I think a good manager would have comped our drinks in an effort to apologize for the gross inconvenience of getting NO DINNER and to convince us to give them another shot in the future, but instead we got no visit from any manager of any kind. I don't think I would ever return to Tir Na Nog just on principle. Pros: Music, Cool Atmosphere Cons: Never Got Our Food! more

Wow 7/10/2006

I have been to many Irish Pubs in my life but few like this one. I visited Tir Na Nog this past Saturday and handleing the maddness with the downtown live concert looked to be a tough task. The tremendous croud brought a huge amount of people in but the bartenders and servers did an execellent job and were some of the most polite people I have ever met in a pub. Service and food was execellent, can't wait to come back next weekend. Pros: Service from bartenders and waiters Cons: Gets a little hot due to the large amount of people there more

Tuesday Nights are the Best 7/9/2006

Tuesday night - local band local brew --- best deal in town! Don't forget to ASK for your free glass because if you don't you probably won't be offered it. That's my biggest complaint about this place... service, or lackthereof. It seems like every time I have been there the server acts like it is a huge inconvenience to actually wait on you... and they aren't THAT busy on Tuesday nights. It's a great location and nice place. Hopefully the service will improve. Pros: Local Band, Local Brew, Cheap Beer on Tuesdays Cons: Crappy Service more

A GREAT PUB: 5/11/2006

It is always a good time in Tir na Nog. The music gets better and the crowd are loving that, so the whole overall upbeat trend is making the MOOD in Tir na Nog infectious. I find myself going back time and time again. Food/Service and music all get a 10 out of 10 from me. Pros: Great size, Street well Lit, Infectious Mood more

Best Brunch in Raleigh 5/8/2006

I am writing to defend my favorite Irish pub. Tir na nog. The best brunch in the City without a doubt. I do not know where that last reviewer ate, but I highly doubt he was in Tir na nog. for a start the brunch starts serving at 10.30 am until 2pm. I make a point of eating brunch there at least 3 times a month, and never once have I been disapointed nor been left to wait on refills. The service has always been excellent, the food piping hot . Waffles are made to order and on the spot. The Irish bangers are a must have, all in all a great variety and lots of it. And a great make your own bloody Mary bar. Great spot to take Mom for Mothers day. They do stop serving brunch at 2pm sharp. Great Value! I highly recommend it. Pros: parking lot close by, music selection, Brunch more

Not for Sunday Brunch 4/29/2006

Tir Na Nog advertises brunch from 12noon - 2pm. We arrived and were seated promptly at 1pm. However, none of food was refiilled at the same time. There were at least 2-3 empty tray at any given time. The fruit was never refilled and the bacon only once. Our table had to share food because there wasn't enough on the buffet. At 2pm, my niece wanted dessert - only to find that it was gone and no refills were to be had. I asked the host about this and he apologized. I told himthat lunch was big disappointment, he said the servers were complaining too. The brunch was $10.95 per person and not worth the money. more

My first Vist to Tir Na Nog: = BRILLANT 1/19/2006

I had my first Tir Na Nog experience tonight. Due to the battle of the bands. And what a venue. I had a great dinner Irish stew. a few pints of the black stuff. and the service was spot on. the bar it self is very cool. I could have spent all night just looking around. it was a cool venue for the River to have choosen for this event. I will go back for more good food. more cool music. And I'll look forward to spending my first St Paddy's day in NC in a real Irish pub. yeah I'm impressed enough to log on and write this. check the web on this place. Pros: big stage, space more
