Editorial review from Citysearch 6/30/2013

\r I took my family for Sunday brunch and it was a terrible disappointment. The waitress barely came over to the table, the buffet had a very limited variety and a lot of what they had was too peppery to eat. The desert portion of the buffet ran out of most choices around 12:45pm even though the buffet was supposed to be open until 2pm. I asked to speak to the manager who told me there was nothing she could do. \r \r I would not recommend this restaurant and will not be returning more

Excellent venue for a wedding reception! 4/17/2012

I recently had my wedding reception at Tir na nOg Irish Pub and it was a dream come true. They did everything. The flowers/decor was extremely reasonable in price and set up incredibly beautifully. Annie Nice was the coordinator at Tir na nOg and she was extremely attentive to all of my wants. The mood was perfect. There were great Irish dancers and musicians already performing, so we didn't have to pay for the entertainment (did it on a Saturday). The cake was the most delicious cake I have ever had in my life and she set up all of the food (amazing too!) and even made sure everyone had plenty to drink. She even cut and distributed the cake at no extra cost! Seriously everything I could have dreamed of and more. Definitely consider Tir Na nOg for anything you may need! more

Best Pub on the East Coast! 3/19/2012

As someone who travels up and down the East coast quite frequently, I make it a point to locate the Irish pubs on my journeys as soon as I check into my hotel- always nice to end the evenings unwinding with a cold Guinness and great entertainment, aye? I have to tell you that NONE measure up to Tir Na nOg. NONE. I've been to Tir Na nOg for everything from breakfast buffets to lunch, dinner, and late night snacking- I have ALWAYS experienced nothing but the BEST service, QUALITY food, and CORDIAL waitstaff. Tip O' the hat to LEE who has become a favorite. No matter how hectic it gets (especially on Saturday nights!), the staff never seem to bat an eye and actually are quite adept at handling the rush. This is quite the opposite in many other pubs I've frequented in the past. No, folks- the entire staff at Tir Na nOg are a family in every sense of the word and function as a team. I'm sure it has something to do with the owner, Annie Nice. From my deallings with her, she is both a firecracker (she's Irish..duh!) and a sweetheart. She can be found roaming the pub personally checking on her guests and insuring a great experience for all. Gotta love that! In short, Tir Na nOg has that certain.. ""IT"" factor that very few pubs can deliver nowadays. In our cookie cutter, one size fits all, generic world of ""Irish Pubs"", Annie Nice and company deliver a genuine slice of home for us homesick Scots-Irish folk. God Bless you, Tir Na nOg! See you soon!! more

Reserving a Room 3/19/2012

I reserved the back room for 30 people at 2:00. The lady who took my reservation was very nice. I was assured we had that space. Four minutes before 2:00, a group of people were still there, and the staff did nothing. I panicked. The rest rooms didn't work. The waiter who gave us waters and took our orders was sweet and kind. At 2:15, the staff started taking all our chairs out of the room. Again, I panicked that late arrivers would have no seats. When I told a staff member to please keep a few seats, she was rude and told me to grab seats from outside if need be. That wasn't even the worst thing... one of my attendees couldn't come because a family member had a stroke. Not having my phone number, she called the restaurant. Do you think they told me? I found out the next day in an email. more

Favorite in Raleigh!!! 12/8/2011

My wife and I have been coming here for years. It is unfortunate that I am only now getting around to writing an online review. Out of all the restaurants in downtown Raleigh, Tir Na Nog is by far our favorite. The music on the weekend is always great, especially the traditional Irish bands on Friday nights! The food is always excellent. I recommend the Cottage Pie if you're hungry. There is nothing else like it! And for desert, especially during the cold months, the Irsih Coffee can't be beat. Great food, music, and atmosphere. We will continue enjoying this place. more

Poor Experience At This Restraunt 11/30/2011

Went for the Sunday Brunch and arrived at 1:45. Brunch was advertised as serving till 3:00 PM. Manager greeted us and we informed her that we had an Attrctions Dinner coupon. She abruptly informed us that it was not good for bunch. We explained that we had used these coupons for brunch a number of times at her restraunt. She asked one of her staff if this was true and they confirmed that they did accept it. more

Best Wedding Ever! 9/28/2011

My grandaughter's wedding at Tir Na Nog was absolutely beautiful. Such a lovely, enchanting setting (the atmosphere was /perfect/ for the kids' Irish wedding). Staff were gracious, the buffet was delicious (wonderful Cottage Pie!), & the wedding cake(s) were so gorgeous...we were so, so pleased with the way it all came together, and with the whole happy, joyful, extremely ambience of this pub. It's a fantastic place. more

Superbly hosted and catered wedding 9/24/2011

My friend's daughter got married at Tir Na Nog today. I thought everything was great. It was the perfect atmosphere for such a happy occasion. The wait staff was polite, responsive but not in your face all the time. The star of the buffet was the shepherd's pie. The real amazing part was the wedding cake. It was beautiful and tasted awesome (not like traditional too bland cake) . I would definitely considered having events there. The owner was so super nice. more

Great for groups! Food is superb! 5/9/2011

We had a group of about 16 dining and hanging out at Tir Na Nog for my friend's ""26th"" birthday. Yeh right, Kristen. :) We reserved the cottage room, which has the PERFECT size! Our waitress was super attentive and all of the bills were correct! With such a large group, there are usually problems, but we had none. I was really impressed with her! I ordered some hummus and artichoke dip appetizers. The veggies with the hummus were very crisp and fresh! The hummus was a bit plain, but went well with the crisp veggies. The spinach artichoke dip was very fresh and creamy! I'm used to the frozen ones at restaurants where it's all ground to bits, but there were big chunks of artichoke and you could tell it was made fresh. I ordered the Turkey Ciabatta sandwich which came with fresh sliced avocado. It was wonderful! My husband had the fish and chips and ate every single morsel on his plate. My friends also said that their food was delicious. I recommend the Strongbow Cider. Perfect crisp drink! more

Brunch was great AND family friendly. 12/28/2010

I took my three children here for Sunday Brunch and we all had a really good meal, excellent omelets- and we even had a good time (which is not always easy with THREE children!!). The staff was very friendly. The food was YUMMY - with some off beat bunch items, for variety- and some excellent old standbys like omelets and waffles. It was also VERY affordable. This is the only Pub I would take my kids to- and they always enjoy it. more

Great Place to Grab a Drink 12/16/2010

My husband and I were walking around downtown looking for a place to grab a drink. We are in our 30's and no longer like going to clubs. We heard about Tir Na Nog's so we decided to try it out. I am glad we did. We had a couple of beers and had a great time. Bartenders were nice and the environment was excellent. Large selection of beers on tap. I will be back. more

Best Bet for FUN night out 11/2/2010

For people looking for authentic Irish food and entertainment , you would think it would be hard to find in the triangle . Not so, After trying every Irish restaurant in Chapel Hill/Durham/Carrboro area and a couple in Raleigh, this is where I go to get my fix when I'm feeling nostalgic for home. Tir Na nOg hands down winner for great food, entertainment and service. more
