I love everything about this bar 1/15/2006

Tir Na Nog is now my all time favorite bar. The new owners and staff are doing a bang up job. It has a differnet feel to it now. The welcome is warm and friendly always news to share. and the menu just gets beter and better. I recently had the chciken pot pie and it was perfect, a warm hearty dish with chicken and veg topped with puff pastry. The wine list was extensive. the service was super. my server was helpfull An Irish band and dancers played throughout dinner with all that going on around me and the fire blazing in the background. It was so easy for me to sit back and reflect on some of my fathers own stories of the homeland. Lovely way to spend an evening. you must try it. I award Tir na Nog 100 stars. Pros: A Warm Welcome, easy parking in lot, live Irish music more

Tir Na Nogs warm welcome 1/13/2006

I was in Raleigh trying to decide IF I wanted to make this city my new home. I stayed at The Sheraton and they suggested I try Tir Na Nog. Well the warm welcome I got made me feel at home. They food was great. service excellent and so much information being handed out by the staff on where to shop, who to contact while looking for an apartment. They even offered to drive me to places if I was stuck. It was like bumping into old friends. They started greeting me like a family friend. It made me decide that YES I would make Raleigh my new home. and when I move there later this year. I will make Tir Na Nog my new local. So Hello from New York to All the great staff at Tir Na Nog. I'll be up there for St Patrick's day. Pros: GREAT STAFF, Parking lot nearby, Great Irish feeling. more

I Gotta Go Back! 12/16/2005

I loved this place. From the wonderful Irish band, to the delicious food, this casual Irish Pub is a great place to have a good meal and a few drinks with friends, and just let your hair down... I had the Chicken Pot Pie with a delicious puff pastry. The flavor was wonderful, and the serving just the right size... I had a piece of Irish Soda bread on the side, but didn't care too much for it...I have had much better.... For dessert I can highly recommend the Irish Bread Pudding...It couldn't have been better! I can't wait to go back and try the Beer And Cheese Soup and the Lamb Stew...MMMMMmmmmm Try it, you will definately enjoy yourself... Pros: delicious food, great atmosphere, reasonable prices Cons: street parking only, not smoke free more

Some things better, some not 9/26/2005

Since the new owners arrived, the overall food and ""Irishness"" have improved, but little else has. Some specials (pint nite and whiskey nite) are good ideas, but obscure sports on every TV and Irish radio on the house system? C'mon. The place is just too big to have a real pub feel and they keep trying to force it. They weakened the Sunday brunch by getting rid of the music guy and changing the buffet, and there's no original music anymore, just the same boring guy every Thursday and cover bands on weekends. This was one of my favorite places, but I think they're searching for an identity now and doing a so-so job of finding it. And just because the cook is Irish they're ""Now Irish owned?"" Who are you fooling? Hopefully, they'll settle everything soon. Oh, and somebody teach the 'tenders how to pour a Guinness correctly. Pros: drink specials, attitude, new owners Cons: new brunch, music selection, price more
