Brunch is a Winner 9/3/2007

Recently returned to Tir Na Nog to try the Sunday brunch. A wonderful selection of dishes. The curried meatballs were excellent and a nice change from the normal run of the mill brunch selections. my wife loved the chicken salad and we both had a tough time dragging ourselves away from the desert table. Fresh breads and fruit made the entire experience a winner. Pros: Wonderful selection Cons: it ended at 2pm more

One trip and you are hooked...WONDERFUL 7/11/2007

If you have ever wondered what it would be like to visit a REAL Irish Pub then this is the place to go. The atmosphere, even on nights when it is very busy, is homey and friendly. The staff takes the time to answer any question you may have concerning the different entrees that they offer and make recommendations based on what you are in the mood for. There is an casual area set up on one side of the restaurant for people to sit and have a brew, talk or whatever. In the early part of the evening there are usually families there with children of all ages. The nice thing about that is that the kids seem to be having as much fun as the parents are simply because the atmosphere encourages it. It's great to have a place where people can go and have a good time with the children. The food is also another big deal here. With a menu that covers 4-5 pages the only problem is trying to decide what you want to eat. The Cottage Pie is always good and Scotch Egg is a great way to start the meal. Regardless of what you decide on it you won't be disappointed, just make sure you save room for their bread pudding. Or better yet, start with the bread pudding so you won't miss out on the great experience (kind of a reverse meal thing). Bottom line is: after eating there you will wonder why you don't eat there more often. Pros: great food, above average service Cons: I don't live closer so I could visit more often more

Tir Na Nog is the heart of Ireland in Raleigh 2/21/2007

What a wonderful weekend we had in Raleigh. All thanks to the great folk at Tir Na Nog . We did not get to see as much of the City as we had planned on our visit. On the Friday we arrived we were advised by the locals it was the place to be for good food and live music. Boy were they ever right on that score. Friday night Guinness toast was underway when we got there. And it was a riot. We returned again on Saturday for lunch and then discovered there was to be a fund raiser on Sunday. Pipe band. Irish dancers, and a big touch of Blarney filled the room. What a fun crowd. and fun staff. The place was very busy and they handled it all with a smile and a bit of a chat. We look forward to our next visit to the City of Raleigh and Tir Na Nog. Pros: Fun staff very attentive. Great live music and loads of Irish Blarney. Cons: Wish it was our local more

A lovely lunch 1/2/2007

We are new to Raleigh. After our first visit the City Market area we popped into Tir Na Nog for lunch it was lovely. A very big Irish pub. We were seated promptly. The waiter was very attentive and the food was amazing for such a low price. I had a Gaelic burger that was just excellent and served with fries. all the lunch prices were under $8 so I was very impressed with the quality for the price. We are planning to return for dinner later this month and to watch the Irish dancers. It was a lovely surprise to discover we had this wonderful pub right here in the City. Pros: A very affordable lunch more

Great night out 12/19/2006

Just got back in from a great night at Tir Na Nog. I don't think it gets much better than this bar. A big slice of Ireland right on our own doorstep. The Ghosts of Erin has got to be one of the best Irish bands in this OLE Triangle and that's a fact. Great beer lots of choices, but myself I never look beyond a good pint of Guinness and Colin pulls a great pint. Thanks lads and I'll be back for the big gig on new years Eve getting Paddy Gibney and a pipe band plus the Ghosts of Erin all on one night. NOW that is what I call the luck of the Irish. Pros: Great Pints fun lovin bar staff more

Christmas Party success 12/19/2006

We had our Christmas party at Tir Na Nog last week and it was a huge success. The cottage was set up so lovely complete with a Christmas tree and candles lit on each table. The food was fantastic everything we had ask for and more and it just kept on coming out of the kitchen. and the deserts were to die for. The wait staff and management were all fantastic very attentive and friendly. We could not have ask for more. We will reserve again for next year and return throughout the year for other events. Again many thanks for a truly wonderful Christmas party, everyone that attended were all very happy with our choice of venue. Pros: Great food: Great choice of deserts: Super friendly staff Cons: Make the cottage bigger for next years Xmas party!!! more

Thank You Tir Na Nog You made this old man very happy 12/19/2006

It was my birthday on Sunday 12/17 my wife and I attended church and onto Tir Na Nog for The Sunday brunch . The brunch was fantastic . The host informed us that a Celtic Christmas was planned for the afternoon and so we stayed. I just wanted to express our thanks to the owners and staff at Tir Na Nog. It was a great day with music which included a singer from Belfast. The new pipe and drum band of Wake County and some adorable Irish dancers. we had no idea that we had so much talent in the area. And after talking to the staff and other guests at the pub, it appears we can stop in on any given weekend for live Irish music and Irish dancers. So with the friendly helpful wait staff and great food plus live music. We will make it a point to return soon and often. Thank you for making my birthday very special, and for going beyond the call of duty and on hearing it was my birthday the manger brought my wife and I some chocolate cake complete with a candle. You made this old man very happy. We wish you all a very happy Christmas season. Pros: Friendly informative Staff . Live shows . Great Sunday Brunch. Cons: the brunch could go a little later more
