No Other Place I Would Rather Be 12/17/2008

Putting my feelings about this bar into words is almost impossible. I spent 4 great years in Raleigh attending North Carolina State University, and this was our pub of choice. I have visited Ireland, and no other Pub in the area makes you feel as if you stepped off of a Raleigh street and into Downtown Dublin. The food is FANTASTIC, and the beer selection is fit for a king. I moved from the area after graduation, but everytime I am in raleigh I make it a POINT to go to Tir Na Nog. The music, tha atmosphere and the AMAZING staff make this a must for any Irish American, or any one who wishes they were. So the next time you visit the best city on earth, stop in Tir Na Nog, raise a pint, and toast! ""May you reach heaven 1 min. before the Devil knows you're dead!"" Pros: Fantastic Food, Beer, Staff more

Fantastic Vegan Curry and Great Service 11/14/2008

We recently held ur son's wedding rehearsal dinner at Tir na nog Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed the restaurant. The food was awesome, especially the ""Cottage Pie"". The other food selections were nice complements to the main dish. We liked having a private room and access to a Video player and a big screen. The tables were nicely decorated and I think everyone had a great time. Working with Management and staff was a pleasure. We would gladly recommend this restaurant to anyone needing a party location. Thanks you to Tir Na nog for making our rehearsal dinner a great success and a night full of wonderful memories. more

Best Irish Pub and Celtic Atmosphere 9/12/2008

I guess I'm kind of bias becaue I go there enough to be called a regular, but I am honest also. TNN is by far the most awsome Irish pub in the area, Not only is it a pub, but it is also the heart of the celtic community in the Triangle. They consitantly bring in traditional caltic entertainers and provide a meeting place for celtic culture enthusiasts. more

They consitantly bring in traditional caltic entertainers and provide a meeting place for celtic culture enthusiasts. As far as food, I thought it was great before the new menu. The new menu is nothing short of AWESOME. The Sunday brunch is really something alo. I hadn't had eggs benedict in years, and there it was on the buffet. I ate so much I was hurting when I left. The staff at TNN is as good as it gets. Great service always with a smile and conversation if that's to your liking. I'm a people person so it's a good fit for me. Thursday nights get pretty loud because it is local band night but there is always tables outside with a view of Moore Square. (My personal favorite) TNN is also the favorite restaurant of both my children 9 & 13 more

The NEW menu is outstanding 8/21/2008

I am a regular at the pub. We where informed that there would be a new menu. I was looking forward ti it just for a change. BUT this is an outstanding change. Wonderful and I would expect to be paying top $$$ But the price is very reasonable . Keep on rocking Tir Na Nog. You just keep on getting better and better. Pros: Just keeps getting better. FOOD is top notch now. Cons: Would enjoy a good spicy curry dish. more

The best Guiness I've had in a while, food was very good too. 8/5/2008

If you like Guiness this is the place. OUTSTANDING. The food was excellent too, which was a pleasent suprise. I ordered the corned beef and cabbage (of course!). They served a dish that looked nothing like the tradtional cbac. It was out of this world though. Really good! more

Wonderful Irish food! 7/8/2008

I was highly impressed with the Irish food, but glad they had some more ""American"" dishes so I could go even w/ a picky eater! I haven't tried any of their beers yet, but they had a great selection, & there's always lots of entertainment. They even have a newsletter of ""Irish"" happenings in the Triangle. We arrived for an early supper, expecting the place to be empty, but there were a good number of patrons, which I found to be a good omen. Our waiter was quite curt, which is the only reason I refrained from rating Tir Na Nog a 5, but that could be only 1 person. A waitress serving a nearby table seemed quite competent & polite. Pros: great food, great selection, great entertainment Cons: we had a rude waiter :( more

A Great Place to get away 3/7/2008

What a breath of fresh air, away from the hipster restaurants and college bars downtown is Tir Na Nog. Despite its open atmosphere, the friendly staff and ambiance make it a cozy experience. I love sitting at the bar on a Friday night, the bartenders and waitresses know their stuff and always make great suggestions for soemthing new to drink. The guiness wings are out of the world, smoky, sweet, and a little spicy, which is just what you need to go with your pint. The sunday brunches are great, it's a great way to try traditional Irish-American food if you're a little gunshy. It's the first place I take any of my friends visiting Raleigh. Pros: live music, great food, friendly Cons: can be a little loud, don't expect intimate chats more

Great service but below average food paired with lack of knowledge from the GM makes for a disappointment. 2/26/2008

My wife and I visited Tir Na Nog a couple of weeks ago for a busy Friday night dinner. My waitress was wonderful and very welcoming. The food took FOREVER to come out and when it finally arrived our order wasn't quite right. I ordered a side salad with my beef wellington that never came out. My waitress did not bring out my food and I feel like she would have remembered the salad because she noticed I was without it as soon as she approached the table. The beef wellington was rather tough and served with a biscuit that looked like a top hat on my beef....rather odd looking. The meat tasted like a cheap grade and was rather tough. My wife ordered the chicken potpie which literally tasted like the meat had gone bad. She would never send food back even if the order was wrong, but there was no way she was eating this. We ended up sharing mine. There was also some dried up food stuck to the side of my plate which was obviously not from anything I was eating. I was amazed that I received food on a dirty plate! Later, the Irish woman who introduced herself as the general manager came to speak with us and couldn't even answer simple questions about the beer selection. She did not know if her restaurant had Killians of tap or not. (They do if anyone is interested). She referred me to the bar manager who was currently behind the bar. I ended up speaking with her for quite some time about the beer selection and she was quite knowledgeable. I was very impressed with both my waitress and bartenders microbrew suggestions based on what I liked to drink. I loved the Copper Ale and my wife really enjoyed the White Rascal. My overall impression left me not wanting to revisit this place again unless it was strictly for drinks. Pros: Great service at my table and at the bar. Cons: Bad food and lack of knowledge from the woman running the restaurant. more

Great Brunch 1/28/2008

We stopped into Tir Na Nog after church this past Sunday. I had been in a few months back.. I left full but not overly impressed. This visit changed my entire view. I am delighted to say all was changed and for for the better. A wonderful and very varied selection of hot savory dishes, Plus a suberb selection on the sweet tray. My waistline somewhat thicker on leaving I vowed to return and soon. more

Stay away from the shepperd's pie 1/12/2008

Went there and had the shepperd's pie. I was very disappointed. There was a hug pile of mashed potatoes (1.5 inches thick) on an extremely thin layer of meat (if it could even be considered a layer). The potatoes weren't even hot all the way through and neither was the meat. Neither of which tasted like anything special. Very bland. Not sure about the other dishes on the menu, but an irish place should know how to make shepperd's pie. Good beer selection though if all you want to do is drink. more
