Christmas Party success 12/18/2006

We had our Christmas party at Tir Na Nog last week and it was a huge success. The cottage was set up so lovely complete with a Christmas tree and candles lit on each table. The food was fantastic everything we had ask for and more and it just kept on coming out of the kitchen. and the deserts were to die for. The wait staff and management were all fantastic very attentive and friendly. We could not have ask for more. We will reserve again for next year and return throughout the year for other events. Again many thanks for a truly wonderful Christmas party, everyone that attended were all very happy with our choice of venue. Happy Holidays to all Marg Pros: Great food: Great choice of deserts: Super friendly staff Cons: Make the cottage bigger for next years Xmas party!!! more

Thank You Tir Na Nog You made this old man very happy 12/18/2006

It was my birthday on Sunday 12/17 my wife and I attended church and onto Tir Na Nog for The Sunday brunch . The brunch was fantastic . The host informed us that a Celtic Christmas was planned for the afternoon and so we stayed. I just wanted to express our thanks to the owners and staff at Tir Na Nog. It was a great day with music which included a singer from Belfast. The new pipe and drum band of Wake County and some adorable Irish dancers. we had no idea that we had so much talent in the area. And after talking to the staff and other guests at the pub, it appears we can stop in on any given weekend for live Irish music and Irish dancers. So with the friendly helpful wait staff and great food plus live music. We will make it a point to return soon and often. Thank you for making my birthday very special, and for going beyond the call of duty and on hearing it was my birthday the manger brought my wife and I some chocolate cake complete with a candle. You made this old man very happy. We wish you all a very happy Christmas season. Pros: Friendly informative Staff . Live shows . Great Sunday Brunch. Cons: the brunch could go a little later more

I will never go back 12/17/2006

We went to this place over the weekend, we thought we'd try it 1 more time, the last time we went the service was very slow and the food wasn't great. This time it was the same thing, the service was extremely slow,we saw our waitress 2 times, once to take the order and once to bring the order,My husband's beef and beer pie was really bad, it had watery gravy with 2 pieces of fatty tough meat in it, and I couldn't find the waitress to tell her-he ended up sharing mine, also we couldn't find anyone to refill our drinks. When I complained about it, I was basically ignored. We will never go again. more

Best US Pub outside the British Isles! 11/15/2006

My wife introduced me to Tir Na Nog a few years ago. Since then, we have been regular patrons. We have taken several guests from the UK and Ireland here, and they have nothing but praise for it. With the includung of more Scottish themed bands and programs, Tir Na Nog has become one of the premier Pubs in the US. The owners are doing a FANTASTIC job of promoting Scots-Irish Culture here in the Triangle. The food is Excellent and reasonably priced for the quality and the bevrages are true Pub brands. Enough cannot be said about this Pub. A truly world renownd place! Pros: As close as you can get to a real Irish Pub. Cons: Slow service once in a while, but NO place is perfect! more

Best live music venue plus great Irish Nights 10/29/2006

Went to the Kilt Night at Tir Na Nog last Thursday what a riot. A supercharged night very high energy all round. The staff including the owner all wore Kilts . Live music by Martin Furey and then the Scottish band Albannach just blew me away. the crowd was mad for them. After Albannach finished some pipers from Wake County pipes and drums showed up and a highland dancer who just happened to be in town took to the floor to do some Higland dancing. What an amazing experience the whole night was. The tell me that they plan a kilt night once a month. So I have decided I will purchase one { They have them made} And I for one will be there Kilt and all. And extra Kudo's to The Nog for getting involved with the Gaelic Halloween festival, and having Seven Nations back, I have been a huge fan for years. It was a weekend I'll not forget for a long time. Pros: Guinness on tap: Extra Friendly Irish staff: Great Live Music Cons: wished I lived downtown more

Don't eat here! 10/15/2006

Fun bar, but I would NOT suggest eating here. $11+ for an entree that had 4 pieces of meat, 6 carrots and about 10 cubes of potato! Took forever to get food and drinks, waiter never came back to check on us or bring our check (never even walked past for 1/2 hour!) Eat elsewhere then come for the beer and music. more

Great Shows!!!! 10/6/2006

Wow!!!!! Came in on a Saturday nite just wandering downtown area. Ian McLagan of Small Faces was playing. What a treat....I've been few and far between impressed by such a entertainment lineup in the triangle. Happened to come in on a tuesday nite a few weeks ago and found the show playing this past weekend. Think Rod Stewart, minus the ticket price!!! Tuesday nite wasn't bad either.....great local band was playing I'd never seen before (American Aquarium), and I'm an avid viewer of the up and coming. I'm addicted to the CD I bought after the show. Local music in NC is the up and coming for the music industry. Watching that band just made me excited for the music industry in general. Good grief I'm gushing........ok I'll give it a rest, but I must say Tir Na NOg is a must see!!! Pros: Lighting, Tradition/Comtemporary Food, Live music Cons: Can't go out more nites a week more
