I don't say impressed about many things anymore, but we have been impressed with Southport Heating and Cooling! We contacted Southport for a service agreement last year! They took care of doing the checks on our A/C last year in the spring! After having a heat wave in March of this year, 2012 and setting record highs for about five days, then Mother Nature decided to send us back to winter! When the wife turned our twenty-five year old furnace on for some heat, she kept waiting for the heat! It never came! Our unit had finally bit the dust! We called Southport, they came right out, and their tech figured out what was going on! Our heat exchanger had a crack in it! He suggested the kind of money that it would take to fix the problem would be much better spent on a newer unit, with more efficiency, and up to date technology! Our old unit was a Carrier! Our old A/C unit was already ten years old and still using Freon, so we had decided before hand that if anything happened to either one of the units, we were going to change the whole system!
Southport sent their estimator/sales rep. out right away! He looked at the situation, did a bunch of measurments, and ran the numbers! He gave us three very good choices of units that would fit our needs! We went with the middle of the road unit, along with a couple of high end additions! We got lucky, and got in on a couple of good rebate programs at the right time, and managed to also get in on a great financing program! We sat up a date, and time for the installers to come out and remove the old units, and install the new ones! The three people showed up on time, were very courteous, got straight to work, and I didn't have to supervise them! The didn't tear up my house either, bumping into things and punching holes in the walls like a lot of these people that some of these companies sent out! I checked on them to see if they needed anything now and then, and after that, if they did, they came and got me, and told me what they needed! They really great, and worked like a well oiled machine! That is team work, and you rarely see that now days! The estimator/sale rep. also stopped by later in the day to check to make sure I was satisfied with what was happening, and I was! The guy that took care of most of the decisions on the installation, is the person that hand made the new duct work line up with the old duct work! Anyone else would have needed a CAD Computer program to build this piece to link the two together but, this guy did it in his head, and laid it out, formed it, and cut it, on the ramp of the work trailer they pulled with them! He brought it in, put it up there, hammered things where they were supposed to go, and made all the seams come together, and it fit perfectly! I was just super impressed with the work and quality! By 5:00 in the evening, the crew was finished with the whole job, cleaned my basement up, and left it exactly how it was when they got there! The two new units were installed and ready to go! Every person that we have come in contact with from Southport Heating and Cooling has been excellent, courteous, and very impressive! They treat you like you are a part of their family! We have been happier with them than any other company that we have worked with in the last twenty years, ever since we lost Arrow Heating and Cooling!
We really did fall in love with our new units right away! We now have a new thermostat, humidistat, and air filtering system that takes care of our inside environment for us! The thermostat, furnace and A/C all talk to each other now, so once you've set everything the way you want it, it takes care of itself!
If you need a new heating or cooling system, or both, or work done on your old, and you want to hook up with a really good company, we highly recommend that you call Southport Heating and Cooling! We think you will be glad you did! When a company does good work, and cares about their customers, they usually stay in business for a long time, and we are looking forward to Southport being around for a long time!
