I thought the price was way to high. How do you go from a $99 special to a total charge of $288.93? And they charge $49 just to come out and look?? They should adjust their prices...

Thank God 12/1/2011

All I can say is IThanksgiving Morning and guess what a Flood. Not a good way to start a Thankful day. OMG!!! I did wait (my choice) to have Rotor Rooter come out and help on Saturday afternoon. Because I am a single mother, I as a professional must trust those in their professon to be honest with me. The plumber from Roto Rooter explained everything that was happening with my drains, ""TREE ROOTS"" He went in the clean out drain and fixed my problem that should have been done by another company back in March of 2011 when the same thing happened. Thank you for your help and honesty. Very satisfied..... more

A huge Thank you to Roto-Rooter and their services, our drains have been backing up and flooding our basement. My husband saw a commerical ad on t.v. and called. Our apointment was comfirmed with a fast response, and an E.T.A of the expected associate. Hour and a half an associate had arrived, he was polite and not only did he answer all my questions but he also presented all options in which he may need to do to get our plumbing unclogged. He went over all prices, breaking them down so we knew where every penny went upon doing this job. So Thank You Roto-Rooter, the BEST Plumber Company in the Detroit area. more

Roto-Rooter Express Fix 11/25/2011

Thanksgiving day our gurgling kitchen drain stopped gurgling, stopped working and backed up. No problem: Early the next morning we called Roto-Rooter and they promptly returned our call and set up an appointment for that same morning. The technician, Shaun(sp?), #247(?), arrived and unclogged our drains within 30 minutes. He was courteous, prompt and advised us we have a 60-day warranty. He also left us some enzymes and advised us how to use this every 6 months to prevent future problems! Roto-Rooter to the rescue! Thanks, guys! You're the best! more

Roto-Rooter To The Rescue 11/21/2011

Our basement has been backing up for the past few years but we were optimistic that it was related to the rain run off or snow melting. Last night, when there wasn't a rain cloud in sight and our pipes were making their loud gurgling noise, we realized that our dreams were shattered and it was a problem with our pipes/sewer. I called Roto-Rooter early this afternoon and was informed that I would be contacted when someone was available to help me and that it would happen today. I was so excited because I had laundry and dishes to do and I was avoiding doing this since it was making the basement flood. Within the hour, I got a call back that Mr. Tom Stewart was on his way!! Happy Dance from me!! Mr. Stewart arrived quickly at my house. He quickly figured out what the problem was and was amazingly patient with my continuing questions. He told me exactly what he was going to do and what it would solve. Amazingly the whole process was incredibly quick and I have a load of laundry running and it's not going on to the basement floor. Thank you Mr. Stewart and Roto-Rooter. You are amazing!!!!! more

On Sunday, washing laundry I had a sewer backup. The woman on the phone was so apologetic that it was 4 pm and she had no one available. They were out at 8am on Monday and the backup was cleared by 12. Thank you more

Roto-Rooter Rocked Our Roots 11/9/2011

We purchased our first home and were greeted with a flooded basement on our 2nd day there. The company that our home warranty sent out to fix the problem couldn't do so and misdiagnosed our problem. I immediately called Roto-Rooter. Their technician Kyle was polite, friendly, reassuring to new homeowners and competent. Kyle worked for 8 hours to clear our drain. He acquired different equipment from 2 different Roto-Rooter offices to solve our problem. Our drain was completely cleared of years of tree root growth at a fraction of the cost we expected. We were pleased with the professionalism of the technician and the supervisor who came to assess our problem. Kyle also went the extra mile to clean the mess in our basement. Even though our repair lasted well past sundown, in the cold and dark outdoors, no corners were cut. We would not hesitate to call Roto-Rooter for future needs. more

We called a plumber from Rotor Rooter in Our Detroit area, The plumber was at our home right on time as he said, Thank you for that, He listened to us and Our problem that was going on with our home. -- He at that time started to do his Rooter Magic and with in a Hr- of the problem It was gone - And laundry I was doing again, Yea Me!!!!!!!!!! What $99 drain cleaning. 10/28/2011

My wife and I have been seeing the Roto-Rooter adds on TV for a week or two now. So, when my kitchen sink clogged up for the upteen-millionth time this year, my wife called Roto-Rooter to have them come out to snake the drain. She asked about the $99 deal and was told that they don't start that promotion until this coming Monday, it's Friday. She asked for a quote and they said that the guy who came out would take a look and give us an estimate. I drew the short straw and had to stay home to wait for the Roto-Rooter guy to show up. He showed up around 8:30 AM. So, far so good, but he quoted me $366.43. What? I had tried for 8 hours the previous day to unclog the drain and was tired of pouring money down the drain, so I agreed to have him snake the drain. How does a $99 drain cleaning get to $367? I have sent an email to Roto-Rooter Customer satisfaction and they have responded that they are looking into it. I'll let you know what happens but I don't think I'll use this company again. more

Roto Rooter Sucks!!! 10/26/2011

I called Roto Rooter 10/17/2011 First off the Dispatch Rep in the office didn't have a clue on how much it would cost to even have a drain snaked!! Yea I know that it's hard to quote prices over the phone if the tech doesn't know what is going on blah blah blah...All I wanted is how much it starts off from ""RED FLAG"". The tech that came out..OMG had the nerve to tell me that it was going to cost me $39.95 for him coming out after he to me that it would cost $238.00 just to snake my main drain (WHAT!!). Needless to say, I didn't pay the $39.95 service charge that I wasn't told about over the phone, and I didn't pay $238.00 to snake out my main drain. Called another company got the work done for $79.95..Screw Roto Rooter!! more

10/10/11-Called on 10/09/11 @ 10pm. left message. the y called me back @ 8:30 am on 10-10-11. Tom Stewart was here by noon. He worked his tail off. Took him 2 hours but he got my drain unclogged. He showed me the drain when he opened it. IT WAS CLOGGED. When he was done the water flowed thru like niagra falls. Thank you Tom. Your were very patient and very professional. I will definitely use roto-rooter (Westland)again if necessary!!!!!!!!!!!Thanks again Tom....Mrs. Connie Soban-Chmura more

I made an appointment with the Detroit office the night before... midnight, actually. By 11:30 the next morning, my plumbing issues were resolved and things were back to normal. more

Total rip off 9/30/2011

My family called Roto Rooter because we had a drain backing up into our house. They came out to our house and proceeded to check into it. After attempting to snake our drain under the kitchen sink, they informed us they were not able to get the snake down more than 10 feet. They then told us that someone would have to come out the next day and use a camera to see if it was just clogged or if the pipe was broken. We paid the fee for the snaking and agreed to let someone come out with a camera,. The next day we waited while he put the camera down the drain!. He was able to get it all the way through our main drain and told us that it was so clogged that we would have to have it professionally cleaned out with a high pressure water blaster. He then quoted us for $1200 just for the water blaster treatment but assured us what we had already paid for the snaking and the camera would go towards this additional service?. We were shocked to find out how much it would cost us out of pocket for something we thought just needed to be snaked. Several weeks passed with us saving up money and having to do the dishes in the bathroom sink, the only room that wasnt effected by this problem, and the laundry at the laundry mat:. We finally gave in and decided to get a second opinion because we just werent able to save up this much money in the time frame we needed to. We called a guy from Mr. Rooter and he came out and told us he would snake it for $100. We allowed him to try thinking he would give us the same diagnosis as Roto Rooter did. He was able to snake our drain completely with no problems what so ever. So in my opinion, Roto Rooter is only after your money and they dont really have the right people out on the job. The staff member that came to our house to snake the drain did not look like he knew what he was doing and was constantly messing things up. I am going with a different company from now on. more

VERY SATISFIED CUSTOMER 4/15/2011

Basement drain was backing up so we called Roto-Rooter this morning at 7:45am. Was told they could come out that afternoon and would call approximately 30 minutes before arriving. To my pleasant surprise, they called back at 8am and said they could be there within 30 minutes. Joe and Dennis arrived at 8:30am and they couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. They checked out the problem and explained what the charge would be prior to beginning work. They fixed the clog and completely cleaned up all within 1 hour. Pricing was fair and they honored a coupon I had printed online. Would not hesitate to call them again and/or recommend to friends...one of the most pleasant service calls we've ever had! more

3/24/2011 - #30299\r I had a root-bound sewer line that was draining slowly. I called a local company that had done the job for me in the past, but after they wasted my time for three days by giving me services window and consistently not showing up or even calling me I called Roto-Rooter to help me out.\r \r When I called an actual person answered the phone who assured me that the guys would give me a call 30 minutes before they were going to show up so that I could meet them. I got the call about 45 minutes before they showed up.\r \r The technician, Tony, was very professional, knowledgeable, and likeable. He seemed committed to resolving my problem.\r \r They did the basic sewer snaking which did not work so they went and picked up the hydro-jet truck. The hydro-jetting got it to a slow drain so they sent down a camera and found the problem was a broken sewer pipe under the road.\r \r They called out a master plumber to give me an estimate on the repair. Tony waited on-site the entire time. more

Emergency service ""Sorry we can't make it"" 4/2/2011

On March 23 at 5:34 p.m. I called with 4 inches of storm water in my basement and rising!! My sump pump was broken and drain was backed up. I paid Roto-Rooter almost $750 on Feb 18 to clean out my sewer drain which was backed up. Roto-rooter said there is a guarantee for their work. March 23 I called for help thinking what they fixed may be the cause of the problem. I called for help at 5:35 p.m. was told someone will get back to me tomorrow. I called at 8:45 a.m. the next morning to make sure I was on the list and about when do they see me being scheduled. I talked to Sheri, she said ?someone will call you when they are on their way?. I called at 2:15 p.m. to see if they knew any more, again, I talked to Sheri, she said the technician is on a call and you are next ? should be within the hour! Knowing it was getting close to the end of the day, I called again at 4:40 to say I was concerned it is getting late and I haven?t heard from anyone just wanted to make sure this was going to get handled, I now have 7 inches of water ? what should I do? Sheri said, ?the technician is still on the call he will get to you when he can? ? I said ?it is getting late, are you sure he will get to me today?? She said ?he will call you when he is on his way?. At 5:00 p.m. Debbie called and said ?we will not be able to make it today we will get you first thing in the morning? ? yes I was pissed!!! I had all this water and GROWING!!! It is too late for me to call someone else at this point. I felt I had no options!! more
