Called because of a plumbing emergency on Thanksgiving day. My kitchen faucet broke . When the plumber arrived he said the faucet would have to be replaced and since stores were closed, he come the following day. A different plumber showed up with the wrong part and had to go out again looking for it. He didn't find the correct faucets which he said was no longer available. but since I did need a functional faucet I allowed him to install it even though it was chrome finished while all my other sink attachments are brushed nickel so it didn't match at all. I called my faucet's manufacturer and found out it had not been discontinued and in fact was under warranty which they sent to me. The job was overpriced and didn't in any way fit my needs. I will not use them again. more

Used Mike Council Plumbing for a shower problem. Shane (the technician) was excellent and very knowledgeable and went out of his way to diagnose the problem and explain the process to me. Would certainly recommend the business to others and I plan to use them again with any plumbing issues. Thanks MCP! more

I have used Mike Counsil on more than one occasion. The staff is very courteous and professional. They detail all the work to be done and provide costs and obtain approval before they start work. The workmanship is fantastic. I have used them on my properties for almost 10 years and I have never had to call them back on any work performed. more

The service is good, highly recommended. We do thing there should be a way to flag our account that we are a Diamond customer so the service timeframe we ask for is honored without us reminding the staff each time, including the tech.. The services are not inexpensive, but the plus is that it is done well the first time. The technicians are well trained and very informative to the customer when questions are asked. more

The service and quality of workmanship are first rate but for my repair I feel I was grossly overcharged. $1400 to repair a broken pipe in the laundry room! The invoice breakdown included $89 for initial trip/diagnosis, $166 to cut wall open, $533 to repair the pipe and (HERE IS THE EXCESSIVE CHARGE) $377 EACH FOR TWO BIBS! Up to the bib charges, I have no problem but I believe the rate charged was not for the hardware but for a complete repair including all the items previously on the invoice. I voiced my concerns with Sean Counsil and he did give a 10% refund but I can not honestly recommend Mike Counsil Plumbing if this is their pricing policy. Truthfully I believe they feel the got away with it because I was in a panic to get the repairs done and by the time the bibs were added to the cost we were well into the repair job. As stated, the service and workmanship is excellent but fairness is also a consideration. more

I hate calling the plumbers. They always seem to leave a mess behind. Not Mike Counsil. Their staff was courteous, professional. They answered all my questions (as dumb as they were). They cleaned up. I have no problem recommending them to family and friends. They worked quickly and got the job done. more

My water heater was leaking and I was so concerned it was going to dump 50 gallons of water into my box filled garage. I call Mike Counsil and had a technical appointment set just within 60 minutes. I was professionally greeted by Technicians Charlie and Aaron. Charlie confirmed the damage and suggested replacement heaters. The interaction was stress and pressure free. Once my product choice was made the technicians created a plan, apprised me of timetables and action items and I felt well connected to the process. Charlie and Aaron were a great team and were quick to engage me in conversation and answer questions about the work they were performing. The finished product is fantastic, my leak worries are over, and I'm very impressed with the ease of the whole process. Highly recommend and will refer with confidence. more

David Glover is the Electrician, for Mike Counsil Company. My uncle’s house burned down, insurance subcontracted the work to rebuild. After 5 years, he started experiencing electrical outages lasted 3 months, as having to reset the breakage from 1x to 3x daily. Also, my uncle is on dialysis 3x a week, has serious medical problems, and a VA patient. I put in an insurance claim, PGE/Solar complaint to resolve. Here we go…I contacted Mike Council Co. for a quoato and interview. Dave Glover actively listened to the problem at hand, troubled shoot both subpanel and main panel outside the house, to find panel switch hot, melting, and obviously another fire was starting. He educated me on the various problems, and the urgency. He started work on Sunday, and completed by Monday afternoon. He also, was extremely helpful in providing me support regards to reopen claim. Oh yes, reimbursement by insurance claim within 30 days turn around. I want to thank Victor and Van for coming to our rescue. We were having major plumbing problems late in the day and Victor and Van showed up. They stayed until it was dark outside trying to fix a MAJOR clog in our pipes. They were unable to clear the pipes before nightfall and we were going out of town that evening. They showed up the following day and kept in contact giving us updates throughout the day via their phone and iPad. We were VERY happy with their work and professionalism. When we returned the following day the area in our front yard that had to be dug up was clean and back to normal. I would highly recommend Mike Counsil Plumbing as well as Victor and Van. more

My parents had called Mike Counsil Plumbing out to their house because the plumbing was backing up into the shower and tub. This was on January 20, and my parents had no facilities to use. On January 21, James came out to see what the issue was and proceeded to tell them that they needed to repipe under the house, but he needed to get Glenn out to the home to get them an estimate. Glenn was able to come on January 22—two days after the initial call, my parents still had no working facilities. On January 22, Glenn and James came out and said the cost to repipe under the home was going to be $28,000 because of all the raw sewage that was leaking and the badly corroded pipes. Glenn manages to convince my blind father to sign a contract that he can't read and explains to my mother, who is a non-native English speaker, to agree to this repair. Mike Counsil Plumbing knew they were behaving questionably because they asked my mother if someone else should be involved with this decision because "we don't want them coming after us." At this point, my parents had cut the initial check for $10,000 to Mike Counsil to start the work. I called my parents and started talking to them about this when James walks in and tells my mom that the $28,000 he was trying to rob her of won't fix the problem—it's going to be additional money to repipe out to the city AND to they still won't have facilities. At this point, I tell my mom to tell them to get off the property. My husband contacts the owner who then says he will call him back. Glenn called my husband back and offers a discount to do the rest of the work but still managed to forget the fact that people need toilets—my husband had to remind Glenn. He also seemed to forget the fact that the original repair he quoted and clearly did not start wasn’t going to fix their issue. Glenn later texted my husband to say that the technician didn't go under the house because of all the raw sewage; therefore, they didn't start any work. My parents wrote their three-day, right-to-cancel letter and received their check back the following day. Needless to say, I called another company out who then cleared the line for my parents, who had not had working toilets for days. In less than 3 hours they took care of my parents’ needs first then they actually put a camera down the line—something Glenn failed to do. It turns out that there was no issue with the pipes. I have photos of underneath the house that show zero sewage leaking and cast iron pipes that are not corroded as James' invoice says. I have camera video showing that there is no issue with those pipes internally. Mike Counsil Plumbing intentionally tried to take advantage of a blind man that has trouble walking and could never look under the house himself and a woman who is a non-native English speaker. Mike Counsil’s business ethic is beyond questionable. more

The electrician did not show up at the originally scheduled appointment time. The appointment was rescheduled twice. The office told us the $89 fee (just for showing up) would be waved for first time customers. The guy who showed up knew nothing about the waved fee and then proceeded to says it will be waved only if they do the work, which was never divulged prior to the appointment. They charged $74 per outlet just to remove the wall outlet face plate. The electrician was here less than an hour for a total charge of $370, for absolutely nothing. He did not repair anything nor did he find where the problem exists. Mike Council Plumbing and Electric is no longer welcome inside this home. This is a "per hour" job, not a per item (as quoted by another electrician). Mike Council Plumbing and Electric took advantage of a desperate situation and elderly woman. more

In a nut shell - My garbage disposal needed replaced, not a new install on a new sink. He said $565 to replace the G/D. I thought, OK, suck it up grandma. Then told me the air gap, another $166. Then 45 minutes (and yes I watched the time) he said the new G/D didn’t line up with my existing pipes, it was an inch off. Another $166. There was no written estimate only an IPad with the smallest writing possible, I signed where he told me. I had to call the office the next morning and ask for the receipt. All the parts were under $300 at Home Depot, so that means $600 for 1hr 45min labor?? How can this be legal? I still can’t believe this happened to me. more

MCP is a local family owned business. Decided to give them a try after going on line and trying one of the "Put in your Zip Code" and we will get you multiple quotes. The quotes came in quite promptly. When I called MCP they immediately answered and set up a time within several hours for a plumber to come out and give me an estimate for replacing my water heater. There was a charge for this trip that would be deducted if I purchased. I hesitated and they immediately waved the charge. The technician/plumber...Mile Silvera offered me several options. I chose one and then after a little negotiating signed the work order. Mike removed the old water heater and made some piping adjustments. He then went off to pick up the new replacement unit and arrived back in about an hour. Installation went smoothly. Mike had set up rugs to keep the surrounding work space clean. He also wore those little hospital booties. Everything went like clock work. No issues. I suspect I could have saved a little $$ by shopping around for a few days or even going down to Lowes or Home Depot. MCP responded promptly, the job was completed timely, and professionally. I would use them again and recommend. more

Charles showed up on time and was very professional. He found the leak in the attic and made the repair. Another serviceman came mid-way through the repair and the job slowed down. The water main at the street was shut off while the repair was being made. When the second serviceman turned the water on he said the meter was still running and it probably was the shut off at the house. After some chatter back and forth they said i needed a new shut off valve. They proceeded to change out the valve and when complete the water meter still was running. Charles said "oh I no what it is it is the toilet valve", he cleared the valve of some debris and the leakage stopped. When it came time to pay the bill I noticed that they added another $450 to the bill for a valve that I didn't really need. There was no discount for the valve or the install. I paid the bill and said to myself never again and I would never recommend them to anyone. I think it was a bit of a scam... more
