bad experience. won't be back. 4/26/2011

So bad. I used their website to make a reservation.. My plans changed slightly and I needed to adjust the time. Good thing I called as they had no record of my on-line reservation. Despite two automated emails confirming it. And another email today thanking me for dining there which I did not because I got such horrible service I left. I'm a local in the neighborhood. I hadn't eaten there in years (and when I did it was bad) but I've been watching the updates and improvements and understand they have a new chef/menu. When we arrived we were seated in a back bungalow. The host informed us that there was a screening going on but that it was wrapping up and we could close our curtains or move inside. We decided we wanted the bungalow and would wait out the end of the (extraordinarily loud) movie. We were given dinner and drink menus. About 5-10 mins later a waitress approached our table and took our drink order. She seemed odd in her demeanor at best. After 15 mins with no other person to our table or her return my boyfriend went to inquire. This waitress it seems had no recollection of taking our order then informed us that she wasn't serving tables outside. It was very bizarre. Then she told us we could order food at the bar if we wanted some. So by now it's 9:30. And my boyfriend's BIRTHDAY. Which I mentioned in my on-line reservation which apparently nobody saw. I let the manager/host know we were leaving. I've never left a restaurant before I've eaten before. Sure, I've been to birthday parties at the Bungalow Club but that is, at most, what it should be. A bar. Luckily the brand new establishment next door (Tirovino) was able to seat us so late. The Bungalow Club might want to be careful before they're overrun by superior restaurants. more

Not worth it--- Overrated 3/4/2011

My friends had raved about this place and I saw some good reviews and based on that I decided to have my parents 50th anniversary there. Not only was the staff unfriendly and very unprofessional , but they overcharged us on drinks and food tasted awful and meat was undercooked because of which my mom got sick and spend the weekend in bed. When I complained about the bad service and undercooked meat the manager simply said im sorry but others like it this way. Overall it was a waste of exoerience for us and will never go there again more

Great Food, Great Service, Great drinks 9/22/2009

Was at The Bungalow Club last Friday with my family for birthday party. It is perfect for groups, we had dinner and drinks. The service was great, beautiful atmosphere, great drinks, food, music. .. Will be coming back for another great experience shortly. We received numerous superb reviews from a very critical crowd. Thanks so much to the entire staff for a job well done.!!!!! Pros: best martini more

Terrible management,ruined my friends 40th bday 9/18/2009

Half an hour before the guests of a large birthday celebration, my friend was called by the bugalow club to tell her that her party would be held in the vip room instead because of another party. Minutes later they called her again to tell her that her party can no longer be held there because the other party now wanted the whole place to themselves. She booked this event long before this other party . Then they had the nerve to offer her a 10 dollar gift certificate to make up for it. Pros: none I know of. Cons: cancel reservation at the last moment. more

Great place! 7/30/2009

I have celebrated a few bdays here and have always gotten the best treatment. The food is great and staff is wonderful. I am in the works of having my wedding here and I can not think of a better place. Have wanted it here before I was even engaged!! Pros: Attentive staff, great food, great owner, beautiful Cons: I live far away. more

should be called the bunghole club 7/25/2009

This place definitely has atmosphere and lots of people, despite the total lack of anyone actually working there. Despite all the negative reviews - I decided to try it with a big party for my bday - huge mistake. We had to beg to be seated beg for some menus and then plead with someone to take our order. its too bad.. the atmosphere is cool, and all the appetizers were decent - but just completely clueless management ...um, maybe some pagers, a reservation list, and business school is in order here. We weren't alone either - other parties were bummed. I can tell the bottom line - if you have 4 or less, it's fine - over 4, big mistake to go there. Pros: decent food, good vibe Cons: everything else including anyone that works there more

Great place to catch up with friends 6/3/2009

My experience so far at the Bungalow Club is that I went here with a group of friends at around 9PM on a weeknight. There were 5 of us. We didn't need a reservation, nor did we have to wait for a table. We were seated immediately on two comfy couches out on the open air back patio. The cabanas were all full, but that worked out better anyway so we could all face each other and talk. The volume of the music was great. Loud enough so you're not hearing everyone else's conversations, but not so loud that it drowns out the people at your own table. It's semi-enclosed with some stained glass which seemed to do a great job of keeping the heat from the heat lamps in, even on a chilly night, without trapping the smoke from the smokers. We were a bunch of girls who were there to catch up on gossip, so for what we were looking for, that was perfect. People may complain about the service not being as fast as it could be, but honestly, we weren't there to be rushed in and out anyway. We'd all had dinner and were enjoying our beverages, so it was nice to have time for conversation. We had the big appetizer plate. Everything was really tasty. You can't go wrong with the Avocado Egg Rolls or the Mediterranean Cigars (think Greek taquitos with Phyllo Dough instead of a tortilla). The waitress was incredibly funny, joining in on the gossip and cracking jokes along with us. The bill came out to about $135 - gratuity included, which is certainly reasonable for 5 girls sharing a couple bottles of wine, some other cocktails, and a big appetizer platter. We had a blast. Unless we have something horrible happen, this will pretty much be our go-to place for girls' night. Pros: Funny waitress, atmosphere, food Cons: Didn't experience any more

Decor is just about the only good thing about this place! 5/26/2009

I can't believe this place is on any "best of..." list. The food is terrible. Went there one night about a year ago (maybe things have changed since?) started out with a sushi appetizer. I realize this is not a "sushi" restaurant, however; don't put it on the menu if it can't be at least decent. It was so gross I didn't even finish it- tasted like it had been sitting out, already made for hours and hours. Rice was dry and so wasnt the fish. For my dinner I got some kind of pasta dish. The sauce tasted like Ragu out of a jar and pasta was way overcooked. Again, didn't finish it. The reason it gets two stars is because of the ambiance. We sat in one of those private "bungalows" which is cool because you can close the curtains and have privacy. Fun atmosphere for sure but I wish the food was better! Pros: private seating Cons: food more

Highly Recommended!!! 1/29/2009

Yesterday evening I had the most amazing time with my boyfriend on his birthday. The Bungalow Club was perfect in every sense of the word. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable. the ambiance was chill, and the cute cabana where we sat for dinner was amazing. The finishing touch was the champagne that was perfection. We had the best time ever thank you. We will definitely be back to dine at the bungalow Club. Pros: Sushi and Martini more

Great Holiday Party!!! 1/29/2009

I would like to thank the bungalow club staff for helping to make our event so successful last night. Sarah and our other waitress (her name escapes me) were so sweet, attentive and accommodating. All of our guests had a great time and were impressed by the room, food and staff. I look forward to working with you and Bungalow Club again on future events. Thanks Again & Happy Holidays!! Eva and David Pros: Service, Food, Mojito more

TERRIBLE for organized parties 1/26/2009

I had my work holiday party here for my partners in a physician practice and it was honestly the most unprofessional event I have EVER attended in my life. Not only was there not enough food (to the point of embarrassment), but the staff was incredibly rude. I ended up hearing about from my coworkers for the next 2 weeks. I tried to speak with the owner about how the food was not only inadequate, but half of what was in the contract was never served. She was abrasive and confrontational. I couldnt help but think how devastated I would be if this were my wedding or something very special. Pros: none Cons: see comment more

EAT IN THE COURTYARD (RESERVE A BUNGALOW IF POSSIBLE) 12/30/2008

Get it--the food is solidly good, with moments of actual excellence, so don't worry about whether you'll enjoy the meal. The appetizers are varied, the entrees varied and delicious. I don't even remember whether it was "Mediterranean leaning" or not, because what I wanted was always on the menu, no matter what mood I was in! The back patio is definitely the spot to ask for, and if you can, reserve a bungalow, or you'll be looking at the empty bunglaows thinking "it'd be so cool to have been seated over there!" Even though the crowd is a little after or before clubbing, the atmosphere is very welcoming and accessible. It became one of my favorites after th second visit. Enjoy, no question a great choice on a whim, or on short notice. For TRULY upscale, try hitting The Little Door. Pros: Atmosphere & Good food in style Cons: Melrose parking! more
