I can't believe this place is on any "best of..." list. The food is terrible. Went there one night about a year ago (maybe things have changed since?) started out with a sushi app...

Good for after work drinks. Dumb waitresses. 2/28/2007

I've been here on several occasions for after-work drinks. The mojitos are pretty good. Some appetizers are ok. Overall, the drinks are a bit expensive for just a lounge. The atmostphere is nice though, especially if you find a place to sit. Also, read your bill. Our waitress messed up our bill by mistakenly charging everything to one card. She then "refunded" and recharged to another card as we requested. Of course, a week later, the charges appeared on both cards, basically double-charging us. I spoke to the manager who said that he would resolve the issue, however nothing happened. So, had to file a dispute with the credit card company and get the money back that way. They could use better staff. Otherwise, good for casual driks and appetizers. Pros: Good drinks, nice atmosphere Cons: Permit parking all around; valet only more

Avoid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2/18/2007

Horrible Customer Services. Made reservations for a bungalow for celebration of birthday. Reservations were for 9:30 and at 10:30 we still were not seated. When we approached the "manager" she was extremely rude about it and told us to have a drink! As if! Also, as were waiting to be seated, we notice the valet taking a joy ride in our car!!!!! We go outside to talk to them and they claim there were giving someone a ride......even that! How do you just take my mercedes and give someone a ride!!! At 10:30 when we finally had it, asked to see the manager again and she was so rude to us that we ended up arguing with them and leaving! HORRIBLE PLACE!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND HAD NO RESPECT FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS!!!! Not recommended at all more

TERRIBLE FOOD 2/15/2007

The appetizers were too greasy, the hummus was tasteless, the halibut was dry and the couscous that went with it was burnt. The apple cobbler was boring and bland too - who would've thought dessert could be bland. Nothing tasted fresh either. Our waitress was nice enough, but her service was lacking. As we were trying to finish our appetizers, our waitress came over and said "your food is up, would you like me to have them hold it for you or are you ready for it?" Our food is up? I didn't realize we were eating at a diner. Perhaps that is why my halibut was dry, too much time under the heat lamps? Chef, it's called timing. If my date orders a steak, wait a bit before starting on my fish. If we order a sampler of appetizers for just 2 to share, wait a bit before firing our entrees. And to top it all off - our waitress seated a loud couple with their loud baby right in front of our bungalow. Oh, one more thing - why is there a huge tv screen over the bar playing a hockey game? Talk about romance. more

Planning a Party? This is the best place - Hands Down 2/15/2007

If your planning a party this is the BEST place to have it! I work for the Tyra Banks Show and I needed a party place that could handle a start studded event. I just had a huge birthday party at the Bungalow Club and it was FANTASTIC! I 'd eaten there several times prior to having my party and knew this year's party theme would have to be "Boogie at the Bunalow" The overall vibe of the Bungalow Club is inclusive for the exclusive. Sorry but only the cool kids eat, drink and party here! At my party they really made me feel like I was the belle of the ball. Only my guest and my own personal bouncer were allowed in. I had nearly a hundred guest and they kept the strong inexpensive drinks coming all night. I give the Bungalow Club two thumbs up and three snaps with a twist. Hands Down the best night ever. Pros: Great place to host an event, strong drinks, inexpensive valet Cons: None Really - can't wait to go back more

Discriminating with no velvet ropes 1/19/2007

Sooo I have been to this spot quite a bit with East Coast folks that visit and also a few Fridays after work. While I generally have a good experience and enjoy the food/drinks, I went a little later than usual about two Fridays ago. Around 10pm to be exact. My fiance and his friend were both wearing hats, but with typical LA club gear---not thuggy at all-- and a huge bouncer type by the door stopped us with a dress code speech. He said that hats weren't allowed (first time I heard this there) and he could hold them if we wanted. As we were going to give him the hats, I noticed about 5 men scattered about in the restaurant with hats on. Baseball hats and winter-knit caps. I mentioned this to the bouncer and pointed them out to him. He just shrugged his shoulders and waited for our hats. When I asked him why the other folks were allowed, he just smiled and shrugged again. I don't usually pull the race card, but I was at a loss so, yes I went there. I asked if this was because we were not white, because they were allowed. He just looked at them again and turned back and smiled at us. Ok--maybe not an admission of racism and there could have been another reason, but he didn't give us one so we got out of there quick. They just lost a regular with me... Pros: Good drink menu Cons: Discriminating front door more

The Truth 1/9/2007

In response to the last "review" - This is NOT the way this whole situation went down. We negotiated a month before the events date with the woman who wanted to rent the space, and were nice enough to give her the space for freet (rental fee is $900). But since the night was available, we allowed them to have their party without the rental. STRESSING the fact several times that the room holds only 85 people and all have to be up to our dress code. A day before the party, she surprised us with a guest list of 160. This was unprofessional and childish, to disrespect the establishment so badly. There could be no compromise with someone who who didn't care about the rules to begin with. Unappreciated and rude, with no respect for our restrictions or regulations...we really don't need you as a patron here. more

DRESS CODE 12/28/2006

This comment is in response to another message left regarding The Bungalow Club's dress code - I consider myself a regular here, and have been enjoying everything about it for over a year. Bottom line to their dress code is this: if you dress respectable and upscale casual, you'll never have a problem getting in. If you dress like you just fell out of bed, you have no reason to go out in the first place. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone for all types of occasions...just remember that this is a nice restaurant and you should look nice when wanting to dine here. more

Great place to meet people 12/19/2006

Large portions and very busy, its a great place to meet and hang out. The prices were reasonalbe and we had a good time. more

Great Service, Amazing food, HUGE portions 12/17/2006

My company just had their holiday party at The Bungalow Club this past weekend, and it couldn't have been better! With help creating a pre-set menu, there was no fussing or problems with the guests since the food just arrived continuously throughout the night. Platters of tasty appetizers circulated the room, and everyone loved the overflow of entrees. Our servers were plesant and incredibly accomodating - everything was thought of and i didn't have to worry about a thing! I recommend this place for large parties, or for some intimate one on one dining as well. I'll be back! Pros: enclosed heated patio, great service, good music, AMAZING FOOD Cons: none! more

Horrible service 12/16/2006

I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a truly stylish, classy place in Los Angeles. This place is run by gypsies! I had arranged for over a month on a preset menu for my closest friends at about $75 per person. Certain entrees were never brought out and when I brought it to mgt attention, their answer was "oh we must have run out of what you requested" Additionally when I first got to the restuarant, my guests and I had to wait while they continued to set up the area. The decorations and ambience are cheap looking. And not even the drinks are good . Don't go! Pros: The food is tasty, if you get all of it! Cons: You don't know exactly what you get more

Great Ambience 11/26/2006

The bungalow Club is a cool place to hang with friends, drink, talk, laugh. I love it, a very good time for all. Food is good, service is fast. It is definitely the EXCELLENT place to go to. more

great for groups 11/23/2006

Love the bungalows. Upstairs is kind of lame, and the bar is mediocre, but the ambiance outside is quite nice. Prices are decent and the food was all really good. Worth the trip. Best for groups - not intimate enough for dates. more

Not Impressed 11/17/2006

The decor is cheap looking and falling apart, the bartenders were slow and unskilled, the waitresses were sweet but totally untrained, the crowd was mostly self-conscious wannabes, and the food was definitely mediocre. I don't know why anyone goes here. more

Great food 11/16/2006

Great place to mingle and meet new people. The bar and the patio are really nice. Bartenders were really friendly and the food is incredible. All in all, I had a good time and would recommend this place. Pros: Food, Happy hour more

Great atmosphere and drinks 11/15/2006

valet park, just easier, but great afterwork crowd good drinks and friendly people great place to unwind after a long day more

not that great 11/15/2006

Ruined my birthday party! 11/14/2006

I had my birthday party here . I gave a months notice, promised we would have a nice area set up on the back patio. My party crowded at the bar for almost 2 hours because our tables weren't available. When we finally got our tables, it was shortly before the restaurant closed and we didn't even get a discount on our bill. They offered us ONE order of appetizers for the inconvenice. That's one 6 piece appetizer for over 20 people. And to top it off it took forever to get our food. Overall 100% lousy service. I will never patron this place again, with or without a large party. :( Pros: Nice restaurant, location Cons: Horrible service more

  • In Short
This dual bar and restaurant brings two floors of Moroccan flair to the Melrose strip. Dangling metallic stars, leafy tropical plants and two trickling waterfalls create dimly lit intimacy in multiple lounges, topped only by the patio's candlelit bungalows. Electronica beats provide background for friendly conversation, romantic dates and the weekend's busy, easygoing singles scene. The Mediterranean-leaning international menu includes hummus, egg rolls, sushi and specialty martinis like the mint chocolate.
