The food is amazing – they have new executive chef and the drinks I had my office party in The Bungalow Club. the service was excellent, and the food was even better. To make th...

Worst

I can't believe this place is on any "best of..." list. The food is terrible. Went there one night about a year ago (maybe things have changed since?) started out with a sushi app...

Food is great! Service....not so much 11/2/2006

I've gone to this place a couple times for brunch and while the atmosphere is great and the food is awesome, the service is TERRIBLE!!! Sooooo slow!!! And not only are they slow but the days that I've gone there haven't really been many people there and the server is nowhere to be found. I would reccommend this place if you want good food, but you're not in a hurry and don't care about good service. Pros: great food, great atmosphere Cons: SUPER SLOW SERVICE more

Awful birthday party - NEVER EVEN GOING BACK TO THAT PLACE 10/24/2006

My birthday present from my friend was to take me to that place with about 20 people. we set down after 1 hour even that we reserved a place... after all that we waited tons for the food and got crazy charges!!! just because we were 20 people. I payed so much for almost nothing, next time i'm going to stay at home and make a huge party in that amount of money. NEVER GO PARTY THERE, ONLY IF YOU LIKE TO TROW YOUR MONEY AWAY! Cons: Service more

Great weekday getaway! 9/26/2006

This restaurant is terrific. I've always had great service, the food is wonderful and the ambiance is without equal. If you want to ensure a Bungalow in back (recommended) try to make a reservation on a weekday when they're less busy. Also - very few places have good brunch and the Pajama Brunch at Bungalow Club (wearing Pajamas gets you a free mimosa) is a little city secret. It goes late and the food is great. Pros: Bungalows, Food, Service Cons: Friday nights can be rough more

Great For Brunch! 9/19/2006

Whatta great place! Service was outstanding! I dined here for a Sunday brunch with three of my girlfriends in one of the bungalows. Boy, did we have a blast. Food was very good and service was fairly quick. I hear this place is even better at night. I can't wait to go back and see for myself. more

Cool Atmosphere 9/13/2006

Enjoyable atmosphere and cool ambience. Nice romantic spot for a evening rendezvous. Will probably come back. Food was average but ample. And a bit pricy, but so is every LA club. more

Yummy Spicy Tuna Rolls! 8/17/2006

I really enjoy carousing at the bungalow club. The waitstaff and bartenders are really polite. And for a non-asian bar/restaurant, the spicy tuna rolls are surprisingly great. And most importantly, the drinks are generous in size and strength. Great martinis! I've been there for mid-afternoon drinks, dinner, parties and what-have-you and the experience has always been pleasant and fun. Pros: drinks, spicy tuna rolls, service more

Better than most reviews 7/31/2006

I had heard about the place a time or two, then read some reviews on citysearch, and must admit I was kind of wary of the place, given some of the reviews. I was in tonight for a party, and I have to say I dealt with some of the coolest people in the service industry! I really enjoyed the bartenders and servers, everyone was working so so hard. I liked how people were so accomodating to things that weren't even on the menu! The drinks and service were amaxzing, but I wasn't impresed by the food. If you want a bar atmosphere, go here!! I see that people say the servers and bartenders are rude, but I never got a hint of that (it must depend on how you treat them first! As a former server, I always find that respect brings respect!) If you want to come here for drinks, I say DO IT! For food, you may want to start with an appetizer... I don't know how the rest of the menu is. Best to try it first, but I wasn';t impressed. Overall, it was great. Hope that I can attend another party there! Check it out! Pros: Good service, great drinks and happy hour Cons: parking stinks! and they don't take discover :( more

Drinks great- service so NOT! 7/29/2006

Definately check out the happy hour...always packed. Great ambience. They've got the best lemon drop martinis, mojitos, and yummy appetizers! The only downside of this place- The hostesses and waitresses are the biggest idiots ever! Am I the only one who's tired of going out to eat only to have rude, ditsy airheads serving me- seriously- you're a waitress- it's not rocket science!! Pros: Ambience Cons: Idiot servers more

Great for large parties! 7/4/2006

Went to the Bungalow Club this past weekend for my birthday dinner with 25 of my friends. Usually dining with this many people can be a nightmare, but with the restaurant fixed price menu, everyone enjoyed a little bit of everything on their menu for only $40 a person! Three courses were served and no one had to worry about ordering, as i had set it all up beforehand. Our waitresses Fatimah, Sarah and Beth were delightful and incredibly attentive with their suggestions and help. And just when I thought the evening was perfect, the owner Anat, came over to see if everything was going well, and then bought the entire table a round of shots! How kind of her! I've never been to a restaurant with a large group where nothing went wrong before - even the check was easy to pay as everyone owed the same amount! I would recommend this restaurant to small and large parties 10 times over - and i'll be back again for my next event! Pros: Attentive staff, wonderful food, incredibly helpful more

romantic atmosphere 7/3/2006

This is a great place to celebrate an anniversary, valentines day or a date with your boyfriend but definitely not the place for large groups or people that you hardly know. The ambience is very nice. There are lots candles, rocks that emit flames and nice calming music. You can either eat inside or outside which is nice. And the seating is very private so you can have plenty of moments alone. When i went here it was for a birthday with about 15-20 people in attendace not a very good idea! the food was below average. I paid 9 dollars for eggrolls which were 2 eggrolls cut up into 4 pieces to make it look like more food than it was. they were bland. Not enough food for the price, and the quality doesn't match either. On Mondays it's happy hour all night which means that you can get drinks for cheap. I ordered an apple martini and it was good, it was pretty strong. My best advice, go here with a small group of friends for drinks only, dont order any food. if you do... order a strawberry cheesecake (those are quite tasssty), it was the only decent thing i ate that night. The place is decorated nicely, it has a morrocan flair. In the daytime it has a carribean beachtown style to it. If you have a birthday party they wont let you serve your own cake, you have to pay them 25 dollars to cut ands serve the cake. The restaurant is pricey but youre paying for the decor not the food or service! Pros: pretty, calming, relaxing Cons: FOOD was horrible more

Totally Amazing Experience!!! 6/1/2006

This place is the perfect date spot! I went with my boyfriend after hearing great things about it before and returned for our one year anniversary - the food just keeps getting better! And the atmosphere! We reserved a bungalow and ended up seeing that they had added a bar, more tables, and a beautiful fire pit to their patio! SO exotic! The service was great, the drinks were potent, and we even stayed afterward to go upstairs and dance! I will definitly be back and recommend the bungalow club to all daters out there! Pros: Valet Parking, HUGE PORTIONS, Exotic Atmosphere more

I WOULDN'T GO IF I WERE YOU! 5/31/2006

I had my birthday dinner last Fri. We were having a great time until the waiter spilled red wine all over my shirt. Right when it happened, the waiter quickly said, "I'm sorry". Honestly, I can hardly remember him saying that. He never came back to our table to sincerely apologize. I went up to the Manager to explain what had happened. She didn't really apologize, but said she'll pay for the dry cleaning. I explained the situation that I was planning to wear the shirt that evening and how it totally ruined my birthday. The she goes, "What do you want me to do?" "Just wear the shirt, you can't even see it in the dark!" At that moment, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. The experience at the restaurant totally ruined my birthday. I would never go back there again! They didn't even comp us for anything! Cons: Horrible Service, Bad Attitude more

it was... nice... 4/9/2006

nothing too extravegant, but it was really nice. My gfriend and i had a bungalow for dinner out on the patio and it was nice. dimly lit and romantic. the food was good. had the coconut shrimp as an appetizer, crusted tuna and lobster tail entrees, two drinks and the banana cabana desert. i wasn't big on the desert but everything else was good. price came out to around $90 w/ tip. Overall a nice experience, wouldn't go back for dinner but maybe brunch and see what the brunch hype is all about. Pros: patio, cabanas more

i'll be back! 3/1/2006

this place is great - awesome food, great service, romantic atmosphere...everyone should try this place out, and they'll be coming back again and again, like me! Pros: Great Patio, Friendly Staff, Exotic Atmosphere more

All Ambience, Less food 2/14/2006

If you're looking to satiate your palate...this is NOT the place. Mediocre food, where your taste buds are only slightly enhanced by the wonderful atmostphere. Beautiful patio dining in private bungalows. Great drinks. My filet tasted burnt (cooked medium), the fish was a dry, "nothing special" appetizers. But worth a visit to sit in the bungalows. Seems more like a club/bar atmosphere than a romantic dinner. Dine later if you want to join the hip crowd at a hip place. Pros: ambience, bungalows, service Cons: food more

Most Romantic Dining Ever! 2/12/2006

Dined here on a Thursday, my date and I sat in a bungalow which was private and romantic -- a candlelit hideaway that we sat in having delicious food and potent drinks. Our waitress was kind and helpful, giving us suggestions and closing the curtains to our table to give us privacy only to open them for an amazing dessert. all in all, the entire experience was great and i will be going back again -- especially for Valentines day! Pros: romantic, romantic, romantic more

Bad Experience 2/10/2006

We arrived on time for our reservation and were told to wait at the bar, where we ordered drinks (after being ignored by the bartenders for a while even though the place was empty). Before all of us could order our drinks the hostess wanted to seat us and acted very impatient. We finally sat down and, it took forever for them to take our order and to turn on the space heater. The appetizers were very good - but then 3 of our 4 entrees came out, and the 4th simply never came until we complained to the hostess. The entrees tasted OK - definitely nothing special. Overall, the staff was simply disorganized and didn't do their job, even though they were friendly for the most part. The decor was extremely cheap looking to top it off. NOT recommended.... Pros: appetizers Cons: Service, Entrees Bland, cheap decor more

Awful 2/5/2006

You couldn't pay me to go into this place again. My wife and I just moved into the area, we were very nicely dressed and were looking to spend some cash at a local spot. The atmosphere was cheesy, the waitstaff moved my wife and I three times, the wine list was tragic and the clientele were oily and low class. The interior decorator tried way too hard. Pretnetious, cheap and unoriginal. I can't say enough on how we disliked this spot. Cons: Everything, Everything, Everything more

Delicious food and sexy staff 1/19/2006

Today was my first visit to the Bungalow Club. I was blown away by the menu choices. I went there after work - they have a fab happy hour. 3 dollar beers! Wow, what a deal. The food is excellent, particularly the Ahi Tuna salad and the Halibut...mmm so delish. I loved the atmosphere - the loungy music gave off a great vibe. They even filmed an episode of Punk'd there! Haha so fun! I highl recommend this spot... Pros: Excellent food, Great drinks, Amazing Happy Hour Cons: nada, zip, zero more

Fantastic Happy Hour 11/24/2005

You have to order from the regular menu to sit in one of the bungalows, but the main bar is cool enough to make up for it. $5 drinks and $5 appetizers make for a delightful Happy Hour. I recommend the orange mojito and the Moroccan Cigars--spiced beef rolled in filo. more

This dual bar and restaurant brings two floors of Moroccan flair to the Melrose strip. Electronica beats provide background for friendly conversation, romantic dates and the weekend's busy, easygoing singles scene. The Mediterranean-leaning international menu includes hummus, egg rolls, sushi and specialty martinis like the mint chocolate.
