Best

The food is amazing – they have new executive chef and the drinks I had my office party in The Bungalow Club. the service was excellent, and the food was even better. To make th...

Worst

I can't believe this place is on any "best of..." list. The food is terrible. Went there one night about a year ago (maybe things have changed since?) started out with a sushi app...

Oooh... 3/23/2004

I was taken to the Bungalow Club on a date, and I was very impressed. The atmosphere is beautiful, and even a trip to the ladies room is enlivened by the art hanging on the walls. The hummus is the best I've ever had. The prices are quite fair, and the servings are generous. I would recommend it to anyone visiting the L.A. area! Pros: great food, beautiful, value more

Bar & Resto Both Recommended 3/14/2004

I've been here for Sunday brunch and a Friday night & will review both as concisely as possible. Resto: reasonably priced, cheap mimosas, nice ambience, easy parking on the streets, yummy (free) sambosaks, fresh ingredients, skip the apple crumble, $45 for 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, 1 cappuccino, 1 juice, 1 mimosa. Bar: cheap yet potent drinks, $42 for 2 black russians, 2 martinis, 1 vodka/red bull, the best beer!, no parking (only valet), great service (caring hostess), chill music/brazilian/ambient, not noisy. Pros: Great Value, Good Service, Relaxed Atmosphere more

What a unique place 3/10/2004

If you've never tried these bungalows, try it once and then you decide. The food is fresh, do get suhi rolls. the service was excellent and It has everythinng that you want :):):) Pros: service, food, romantic more

A Perfect Night 2/22/2004

I had the best Valentine's Day ever at the Bungalow Club. My boyfriend reserved us one of the bungalows in the back and it was just perfect. The food was great and the service was just right. The owner even came over to our table to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. I recommend this restaurant to anyone that is looking for a nice romantic evening. However make sure you call and reserve the bungalows way in advance. Pros: Inexpensive, Good Service, Great ambiance more

I can't say enough good things! 1/31/2004

This place is my favorite in all of LA. Get a bungalow out on the back patio. I have always had fabulous service, a great time, amazing food, and it's really affordable. I had to wait 45 minutes one Friday night, but other than that, they've been great about seating us. They remember us when we return. The peanut butter infused hummus is to die for. Their wine selection is limited and not fabulous, but always do-able. I take every out of town visitor here, and come for dinner whenever I can. Pros: Inexpensive, Great atmosphere, Fabulous Food more

Cute Place but Average Food 12/31/2003

The Bungalow Club is a good place to eat with a large group of friends/family or for a romantic dinner. Try to reserve the Moroccan Room for a large group or a bungalow for a romantic dinner. Go for the atmospher, but don't expect four star restaurant quality food. The prices are reasonable but the food is just average. Pros: Inexpensive, Nice Atmosphere Cons: Average food more

ok, try this as long as... 12/20/2003

.... you can get a bungalow booth. there are only a handful so make sure to reserve a week in advance. food: prices were decent. the food itself was mediocre. i had the lamb chops (only $14) and my date had the salmon. portions were pretty small. it just seems like they're trying to go all eclectic/fusion with their food before even mastering one style. service: great, friendly. vibe: nice and "pretty" would i go there again?? in all honesty, it was a mediocre restaurant. i would go again only if you can get a bungalow. what's funny is that i was there the same time zanntana was there. hahaah. oh yeah, valet parking is a whopping $5. and u can't park on the street past 8.00 Pros: vibe, service, price Cons: mediocre food, parking, limited bungalows more

WONDERRRFULLL 12/14/2003

It was my friend Lisa's 21st b-day on Saturday 12-14-03... The whole staff made my group of girlfriends feel special and completly comfortable. The srevice was the best I have seen in a long time. Our server was fast and efficient. The owner Anette was attentive and caring. The food was to die for. We had sooooooo much fun at this place. I plan on having my birthday here too. I loved it. We all loved it!!!!! Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere Cons: needs more toilets more

amazing!! highly recommended 11/2/2003

This is an amazing restaurant. I highly recommend it. Ive been there for both dinner and brunch. Reservations are recommended for dinner if you want to sit in the bungalows on the patio . The food and atmosphere are great and the prices even better. Its a great place for a romantic evening or a night out with friends. Their brunch is excellent, but it isnt the typical Dennys or Ihop breakfast. I wouldnt recommend bringing children to dinner, but brunch would be great for older children. Pros: food, service, atmosphere more

Great Patio 10/22/2003

I went to a birthday party there a couple weeks ago and had a great time. The food was great very reasonable :) more

JUST AWESOME... 10/15/2003

The BC is an awesome place to go. The ambience, the service, the food....was too good to be true. The Bangkok Hummus is something to be reckoned with. The Bungalows are cozy, the service is prompt, personal, and outgoing. Would definetly go again, and again, and again... more

Great for Dates 10/3/2003

Met a friend for Happy Hour ($2 for a pint of stout!) and hada great time hanging in the bar area. Poked my head into the dining area (outside) and fell in love...I'll be back with a date. This place appears to have multiple personalities: Stop in for a drink, dinner, or pick a night when the upstairs dance floor will be hoppin'. Service was phenomenal. Pros: Ambiance, Service, Comfortable Cons: music was loud... more

a very funny night 9/30/2003

Last week I caught the Wednesday night comedy show at the Bungalow Club and I could not believe just how great it was. Comics from Comedy Central, BET, Leno, Lettermam, Conan and Killborne. Headliners from around the country. A really fun show, plus IT WAS FREE. No cover and nobody walking around forcing you to order drinks. Easily one of the best comdey shows in LA. more

A+ Spot 9/29/2003

We spent a wonderful night live Jazz, The food is great and the ambience. we all recommended :):):) Pros: good service, good Food, great Jazz more

One of a kind 9/5/2003

This is the most romantic restaurant I have been to in Los Angeles. Come on a Monday when live jazz is playing on the patio and don't forget to reserve one of the ever unique BUNGALOWS. This place has a good thing going for them. Pros: wonderful food, friendly staff, great ambiance Cons: absolutely nothing!!! more

This is a good one! 9/4/2003

My friends and I have visited the Bungalow Club on numerous occasions, and have never been less than fully satisfied. Especially recommended are Monday nights, when you can listen to superb live jazz (at no extra charge) on the patio in one of the best outdoor settings in L.A. Add to that the really good, inexpensive food, and you've got an experience to savor. Pros: great jazz, inexpensive, good food more

They are not bungalows! 8/28/2003

Look at the picture! It's not bungalows, they are canopies! There is nothing special about this place. Ok, the ambience is not bad...but the food....hmmm.....it's not so good. more

Nice Place! 8/25/2003

The owner, Anat, was wonderful and took great care of us. The food was superb and the prices unbelievable! The mac & cheese was seriously the best we've ever had. Only regret I had was that we didn't go in the evening, it was still light out. More quiet that way because we returned later that evening and the place was buzzing. However, the lighting outside was nice in the dark. I suggest reserving the private bungalows. They have happy hour even on Sat. with 21 beers on tap for only $2-very cool! Romantic too. Pros: Inexpensive, Happy Hour, Great Food & Service Cons: Carpet in Bar Dirty, Bathrooms Upstairs more

dont get caught on TV 8/6/2003

when you call to make a reservation ask if there are any TV shows taping there that night - I got caught sitting next to the table where one of those rediculous dating shows was being taped. The lights and cameras and crew people just ruined the ambiance. Ive been told by other friends that the same had happened to them, so it's a common occurance at this place because it's beautiful and inexpensive (keeps production costs low). Ive also been there for a comedy show - great space for it, but not enough seating. Pros: has comedy nights, inexpensive good menu, frienly service Cons: dating show hot spot more

Excellent Food! 7/4/2003

My husband Bill and I eat at Bungalow Club at least 3 times a month and had our dear friend Bonnie's going away party there. We love the food and the service and the atmosphere. To sit out on the patio with our sunday brunch, is so relaxing. My Mother went with us a couple of weeks ago and now is a new regular. We recommend it to anyone! Pros: nice atmosphere, great food, great service more

Editorial
  • In Short
This dual bar and restaurant brings two floors of Moroccan flair to the Melrose strip. Dangling metallic stars, leafy tropical plants and two trickling waterfalls create dimly lit intimacy in multiple lounges, topped only by the patio's candlelit bungalows. Electronica beats provide background for friendly conversation, romantic dates and the weekend's busy, easygoing singles scene. The Mediterranean-leaning international menu includes hummus, egg rolls, sushi and specialty martinis like the mint chocolate.
