The food is amazing – they have new executive chef and the drinks I had my office party in The Bungalow Club. the service was excellent, and the food was even better. To make th...

Worst

I can't believe this place is on any "best of..." list. The food is terrible. Went there one night about a year ago (maybe things have changed since?) started out with a sushi app...

Yikes! Try somewhere else if you want good food on Melrose 7/30/2007

I had a terrible experience at this restaurant and after reading through the other reviews I'm not so suprised. I should have probably read CitySearch before going! The food was not very good and the service was horrible. I was actually surprised waiters and management could be so rude.A friend of mine told me she had a private party there and was treated poorly, too. I thought the whole point of paying to go out was to get GOOD service. I would stear clear from this place if I were you. Head down the street for some good food or try Hollywood or Sunset Blvd for a better night life scene. Pros: Are there? more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS 7/29/2007

I recommend that if you want to hear good music, eat well and enjoy some cocktails, you'd do better buying a 40oz, picking up Taco Bell and listen to your car stereo on the parking lot. I went to the BC for a party. I was overcharged. Management wouldn't listen. The staff and service was poor. Other of my friends at the party received worse treatment. more

Do not go... 7/29/2007

I went there for a private birthday party... Very poor service and unprofessional waitstaff. I do not recommend going there. more

AVOID 7/29/2007

I heard this place would be fun and trendy. I was wrong. The staff is very rude and the food and service is terrible. They screwed up our order, screwed up our reservation and were not apologetic with us at all. We asked to speak to the management to voice our concerns and problems and the waitors said that there wasn't any management on-site. Then as punishment for asking, they didn't bring or dessert out for 30 minutes. I would not go back there again. It just wasn't worth it for a cheezy restaurant/club on Melrose. I still can't understand why they were so terrible to us. more

Cheesy and what a mean management team 7/29/2007

I went there for a private party and the wait staff was decent but the management there is so unprofessional. One of the managers brought all of us his friends to the private party and most of them were rude and bad dancers! Ha! We asked one of the other managers if they could handle this. After all, we paid for a private party. They told us that they owned it and could do what they want. The drinks were not very good and the rest of the crowd was undesirable to say the least. It's a pretty lame bar. I would avoid it if I were you. more

I wouldn't EVER go here again... 7/29/2007

unless I have the urge for poor service, expensive drinks with little to no alcohol involved, and cheap tasteless food that's basically slapped down on the table in front of you by a busboy who doesn't even have the time to offer you utensils. Without question this is the worst restaurant I have ever been to. We complained to the quote/unquote "manager" on duty and were given even worse treatment by him than we had gotten from his staff - no need to question who is training everyone! If you haven't gotten the picture yet from this description then you are EXACTLY the type of clientele who should frequent this establishment....you'll love it there. For those of us who have a life and want to spend our money on just about anything else we will all see you next door at whatever other restaurant is open. Pros: There is always a table open Cons: that is because the service is jaw droppingly horrible. more

Obnoxious West Side at its best 7/20/2007

I went to the Bungalow Club at the end of June for my close gf's birthday dinner. We arrived after the group had ordered some appetizers, and by request of my guest and I they had ordered our entrees for us. We were cramped (6 of us) in a small banquette. The waitress was smiley and somewhat attentive, at first. My friend had ordered her drink twice before the server remembered and came back and asked what it was again. 45 minutes later (literally!) she received her drink, after we were told it was, 'backed up at the bar'. By the way, it was a ginger ale. I ordered the filet. It came cold, overcooked, dry and drowning in this salty reduction sauce that made the steak worse than ever. (It wasn't listed w a sauce). Everyone seemed satisfied with their meal, minus my guest who agreed that the steak was mediocre at best. We requested dessert twice, only to be told they were out of dessert.... on a thursday night nonetheless. Not a damn scoop of vanilla to sing happy birthday. NOTHING. Well, the server was kind enough to bring us a rice cake. Literally white rice shaped as a small cake w a candle. It tasted awful (tried it just to see what it would be like) My friend left immediately after to meet up w other friends at another location as we were waiting to pay the check. We received the bill after asking for it 20 minutes prior. We gave the server instructions on how to split. (I know this is a pain but, its manageable, I work as a server for an up-scale steakhouse, you get over it) The bill came 20 minutes after that, and we took a look. Unfortunately, it was done incorrectly. She left to fix it only to charge my guest the entire remainder of the bill that was supposed to be split in the first place!! It really wasn't that confusing. We finally left an hour or so after originally requesting the check. I am an easy going person, and patient to an extent, this however would have tried the patience of the late Mother Theresa. Pros: Appetizer salad w goat cheese, DJ (decent) Cons: Snobby crowd, Overpriced for the crappy food, Ridiculous wait time for everything in general more

Viva la Bungalow Club 7/11/2007

I had a birthday party here a week ago with about 40+ guests and had a fabulous time. Everything served that I pre-ordered. All my guests (kids and adults) were very pleased. I would definitely come back! Had a fnatastic experience here on a number of occations. Pros: service, food, price more

Great ambiance! 7/10/2007

I visited The Bungalow Club this past Saturday for the first time and had and excellent time! It was much more spacious than I had expected. The indoor bar had a great vibe perfect for socializing and the outdoor patio was hip yet romantic as well especially if you reserve a private bungalow. The food was great and service was just right. I would recommend this place for drinks with friends or a romantic date. more

Great servise and Happy hour 7/6/2007

I love the bungalow club. there is happy hour every day. Our hostess and server were very helpful and freindly. Everytime we come back to this place we had an amazing time. Also, I recommend to book this place for big parties if you want a guaranteed great time. Pros: Service, food and ambience more

Best happy hour, food, and drinks 6/22/2007

The Bungalow Club is not only my favorite place to go for happy hour, but i's great on the weekends too. The mojitos and martinis are to die for, and the candlelit pation and bungalows are perfect for a girls' night out or a romantic date. I highly recommend this place if you want to get great food and have a fun night out in Hollywood. Pros: Valet Parking, Great Happy Hour, really nice atmosphere more

This place is great!!! 6/18/2007

I dont know what the people below are talking about - this is the most romantic restaurant in hollywood! the food is great, the drinks are amazing and the service was just superb!!! candle lit dinners with awesome music to listen to...the bungalow club is everything and more that you would want in a night out. keep up the great work! Pros: everything Cons: nothing more

Loser Bar 6/11/2007

Worst night ever , this place was so boring and so wannabe ..will never go back..but good for 21 years old Cons: bar more

Yummy food in the romantic environment 6/11/2007

Good food. Everything is good there. Worth to go for second time. Nice place. Since there is not a lot of "Bungalow" , you better reserve earlier! more

Great food! 6/1/2007

This place is very nice. I must say the photos here on citysearch were a little misleading. It was nice and candle lit and all but not as nice as I had thought it would be, still good though. Food was WONDERFUL! We tried a little of everything and it had our tastebuds thanking us the whole night. The rainbow roll and salmon were delish and for desert the banana something (forgot the name) was amazing!! Nice ambience, very romantic once it gets dark (in the bungalow that is) but staff not too friendly. Speedy service though. Pretty slow for a saturday night. Prices were reasonable as well. Give it a try. Pros: great food, fast service, nice ambience Cons: not too much parking (street parking is with permit only....we got a ticket...8( ) more

Wonderful Hummus, Awful Service 5/30/2007

The Bungalow Club can be really fun, but make sure you go with people who are up for a "scene". When you walk in, you are lead directly into a very LOUD, crowded bar. I was fine with this, but it put my friends on edge right away, and threw our evening off. So make sure you are with fun people! We sat in a bungalow in the back, which was very cool and different, but reeked of cigarette smoke. It was really dark and I wasn't sure how clean or sanitary anything actually was. I tried not to imagine how things would look if the lights were on. The worst thing about The Bungalow Club is the service. My waitress flat out refused to bring me a virgin cocktail of any kind. She told me they weren't available at all, which I found hard to believe. Then, the menu advertises a special promotion for Designated Drivers but when I asked about it she said "um, yeah, it just means I can't serve you alcohol". Then bring me a virgin cocktail!!! The waitress did other bizarre things when she bothered to actually show up at our table, and made enough weird comments that we were pretty sure she was bombed out of her mind. But at least we had a good time laughing at her. And saved money on the tip. The Hummus is truly awesome, but I'm not sure it's worth coming back for. Pros: Good food if someone shows up to take your order. Cons: Refuse to make non alcholic drinks. more

Best Martinis 5/16/2007

Food & Service outstanding. Best Martini. we had a GREAT TIME. I would highly recommend this spot and will definitely be back there again. more

Private Party Venue: GREAT Otherwise: whatever 4/26/2007

I've been here for 3 private parties and it was great. Dancefloor upstairs, great large patio to hang out in, and indoor bar. Plenty of seating space. Also, their appetizers are great! On a regular night, this place is not too happening. I also went once for brunch...not recommended. Their breakfast potatoes were so obviously frozen potatoes. There are many better places for brunch--it's just the outdoor seating in the back that's appealing. Pros: Layout, Outdoor Area Cons: Not happening more

Romantic, Nice Atmosphere 4/13/2007

I love the bungalows. Drinks are strong, and thus worth the money. Price was a little expensive. However, we did order the "Big Mix" appetizer, a few Filet Mignon entrees, and about 6 or so drinks. Considering all of this, the price was reasonable. If you watch what you order you could pay about $40-50 for two. I recommend you check out their website before hand if you are on a budget to determine what you will order. I can say that my server was very friendly. The music is great and the servers are not snooty. We were seated promptly. The food portions were reasonable (I did take food home). It is a nice place for drinks. Not a complete Moroccan expeirence if that is what you are after (though I did like the hummus). I recommend you try it for yourself. Pros: Strong Drinks, Good music, Private bungalows Cons: Finding the Valet Parking more

Best place to have a party! 3/18/2007

I had my birthday dinner at the bungalow club this past weekend, and while i was nervous because there were so many people dining, it really couldn't have gone any smoother. Our waitresses, Ana and Sarah were the best!!! they were so helpful, and any little thing i needed, they were right on top of it. the food was AMAZING, and we did the family style party option, and there was so much of it, we got to take a bunch home! I will definitly come back here for parties and for some one on one romanti action. thanks so much!!! more
