STAY AWAY!!!!\r Like most of the other reviews say, this is the #1 WORST bridal store in NY. Thank goodness I did not order my brides gown there! My bridesmaids were all fitted in April for a September 08 wedding. The sales girls informed me that the dresses would be in at the end of June. Well it is now 2 weeks before my big day and the bridesmaids dresses have finally arrived. That is not even the worst of it. During this entire ordeal like previous reviewers had said the ladies were rude, uncaring and showed not one ounce of compassion. Numerous people, including myself had to constantly call to find out what was going on and what the problem was. Two of my other bridesmaids are from out of town and ordered the dresses a month after my NY girls and had there dresses by the end of June! So it is the day the dresses arrive and things seemed to have gotten better. My father-in-law went to Lestans to pick up all my bridesmaids dresses because at this point nobody wanted to get there fitting there anymore. I spoke to a woman on the phone and she said it was not a problem he could pick them all up. WELL..... when he got there and tried to pay for them they told him they did not accept credit card for walk outs!!!! All of my girls work and live far from the bridal boutique, why the hell would we want to put ourselves through another nightmare for all the alterations. So p.s. he could not pick up the gowns because he needed to have cash and all the girls now have to go on their own 2 weeks before my wedding, pick up the dress and find somewhere else to get alterations!!! As a bride I am very thankful I did not get my own dress there, if you want a pleasant experience try RK Bridal in NYC they know how to treat people the RIGHT WAY!!!! I only wish I would have looked at the reviews before I went there. But at least I can hopefully help others before they have a heartattack 2 weeks before their wedding!!!! Cons: everything more

This is my first review but I really enjoyed my experience at Lestans. I'd been to several other bridal boutiques (David's Bridal included, ugh!) and at Lestan's I didnt get that corralled cattle feeling. Everyone got individual attention (Collete & Josephine are the BEST!!) and after searching everywhere they were the only store to carry the gown I wanted. They were patient and encouraging and very detailed in the explanations of costs, style, fit, accessories and alterations. My gown arrived and was altered on time and I never felt like I had to wait for anything, the service was very prompt. I was so happy that my dress was exactly what I had hoped for that I danced around the showroom during my final fitting! (It proved that I could salsa in it at my reception, which I did!) Thanks to all the ladies of Lestans, you truly made me the happiest bride on the planet for my special day!!! Pros: No long lines or wait times for service. Cons: Parking is tight on weekends, there's a busy diner next door. Needs new carpeting. more

i wanted to write a review about my experience in lestans. It was the second bridal shop i went to, the first was davids bridal which was a horrible experience so i was very wary. Anyway my sales person was collete, she was very patient very professional . She helped with trying on the gowns and when i finally picked a gown she let me now how much the alterations would be if they were even necessary. She also told me my measurements and gave me a detailed invoice. It was a very nice experience. The only problem that bothered me was that you could not touch the gowns which seemed really absurd and you couldn't take pictures so if you decide to go there please bring someone with you. My Wedding is August 23,2008. Lestans was the only place that I went to get all my dresses. I have over 21 dresses that I ordered from them. The salespeople were so helpful especially Valerie, Eva, Collette(just to name a few.) The salesassociates were really great with their ideas, help and even extending themselves to get me samples of the dresses that I wanted that they did not have in the store. They even went the extra step and got me a sample of my wedding gown, I am a big girl and usually big girls don't get samples in their sizes to try on but because of their consideration and foresight, they ordered the sample in my size. All my girls dresses came in and they were from Three different designers and they all got fitted with no problems. The seamstress there are so knowledgeable about how to cut a dress and not all of my girls needed alterations but the ones that did had no problems and all were very happy with there alterations. My dress also needed minor alterations and just to name one particular seamstress, who was so incredible and does remarkable work, Josephine, who I would so highly recommend. She made me feel like a princess in my dress and her ideas and suggestions were on point. She knows her business.\r I have read other people remarks about Lestans and I feel like I don't know what they are talking about. My mother always told me to get respect you have to give it and in retail people tend to forget that salesassociates are people too. These ladies are so helpful and friendly and My Matrons and I end up Closing the store everytime that we are there, we have such a goodtime and are so comfortable there. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND LESTANS TO ANY BRIDE WHO HAS SENSE ABOUT HER AND UNDERSTANDS THAT IT IS NOT ONLY STRESSFUL ON OUR END BUT THEIRS. TO TERRI, VALERIE, EVA, JOYCE, JOSEPHINE, COLLETTE, AND ALL THE OTHERS THAT I DID NOT GET A CHANCE TO NAME, I JUST WANTED TO SAY FROM MY HEART THANKYOU FOR GIVING ME THAT EXTRA SMILE ON MY DAY. I have to say that I am disgusted with Lestan's. I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding that is on July 12th and I have to go back for my fourth aleration this Thursday. The bride made sure the bridal party ordered/deposited money for the dresses in December. The dresses arrived June 19th and they were ordered two sizes too big and too long. The brides' dress came in June 19th and was ordered in the wrong color. One of the bridesmaids' order a jacket with her dress and when she asked were the jacket was the reply was ""I'm too busy to look for it now"". All that was needed to be said was that the jacket didn't arrive ( the real answer should have been it wasn't ordered). And now that the jacket came in ( mind you the bridesmaid was the one that had to call to find out if the jacket ready) it's two sizes too small. What the hell was the measurements for if they're weren't going to use them. If your going to measure a person then the outfit should be true to size, not with this place. I think they ordered the dresses larger/smaller so they can charge you for alerations. It's a scam. When I went back for my 3rd fitting, all the measurements/alerations need on the 2nd fitting weren't even done. And I was in my bridesmaids dress for two hours waiting for the seamstress who was slow, just to see the mess that needed to be corrected. Nasty customer service with no regard for time of wedding. The shop was untidy, cold, dusty, dirty and smelled dated. I would never recommend this shop to ANYONE I KNOW. They show that they don't care about the customers or the items purchased on behalf of the customers. I'm not even picking up my dress, the bride will get it for me that's how disgusted I am with the shop. The dress will be trashed right after the wedding, the seaming of the dress looks like a beginner stitched the dress together. It's a week before the wedding and the bridesmaid dress is now into fitting number 6 - why because it was measured wrong to start with, the dress was not there when promised and the straps were sewed in a twist. A simple thing like sewing straps shouldn't be a problem but using hot pink thread on a lavender dress doesn't make it.\r \r There were 4 clients in the store - all with prroblems - some waiting upwards of 3 hours. Why go here? Because we didn't read the reviews before hand - find a place with better service,honesty and have the event you deserve!\r \r There are better bridal shops! I ordered my wedding dress in October 2007 for a May 2008 wedding. When I went to my first fitting in April 20 07, I found out that they ordered the wrong dress and color! My wedding was 4 weeks away and I had no dress. When I went to my second fitting 2 weeks later after it was re-ordered and rush delivered, the dress was the wrong size. I order a 16 and got a 20! The manager was very very rude and nasty about the whole situation when my mother, fiance, and myself confronted her about her sales associates mistakes. I asked for some type of compensation for their errors like free alterations and she refused! She wouldn't even admit that all the errors made were her fault/sales associate. I was so angry and upset that I walk out.\r \r Be advised that once they get your deposit/monies, they will treat you like garbage if you have issues. I would never go back there for ANYTHING and I advise you NOT to go there neither! more

I went to Lestan with my daughter for her bat mitzvah gown as well as a gown for myself. I read the reviews and I could not believe what people wrote because my experience was totally opposite. The help at lestan was great, they could not do enough for us. My daughter and I were unsure as to what we were looking for and the staff was so helpful in guiding us in the right path. My daughter found something and I was deciding back and forth between 2 gowns. The staff was very accomadating and patient with me considering my event was in 2 months and the ordering time was very close. Once I made my decision the store lived upto everything they said they would do. My daughters dress needed minor alterations (lifting the straps). Mine as well need little alterations, just a hem, they did not order it 2 sizes 2 big like the other reviewers claim. It came in fitting like a glove. I would definitely recommend Lestan to my friends and relatives. They certainly have the biggest selection around and I have been to many stores before going to Lestans. Lestans is the place to go for a dressy dress or gown if you like to have choices!!!!! Their selection is incredible! I have bought many dresses there over the last few years..from moderately priced to more expensive. They have anything and everything that you could possibly be looking for. I know that every time I go there, I will walk out happy that I have found the perfect dress! I have sent many friends there. All have been completely satisfied and have gone back. The sales people are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The prices are very competitive..(.usually better than what you see in other stores for the same dress). Lestan's is the WORST place to go for a wedding dress. First they made me order my dress 2 sizes too big. When the dress came in 3 people could have gotten into that dress at the same time. Then the alternations were a nightmare. The dress never fit like it should. Finally, I had to have another seamstress fix the dress. Do not go here unless you want terrible service and expensive dresses. Since there is no other bridal store nearby, Lestan charges high prices. Initially, we were not going to be offered any kind of discount for ordering 5 dresses at once. We ended up getting only 10% off after much negotiating. (We later found the exact same dresses for $100 less at the Macy's bridal store and at an outlet in New Jersey). Our dresses, that should not have been ordered until all bridesmaids had paid half of the total amount, were ordered without letting the bride know. When it was suggested that they notify the bride that dresses had been ordered, they said in 40 years they had never heard of such a suggestion. I unfortunately can not be in the wedding any more but they said since the dress had already been ordered, I could not get any of my $124 deposit back. With still 8 months until the wedding date, this was the store manager choosing to be of no help, citing reasons that were not communicated to the bride or bridesmaids. Having been a bride before and having been in several weddings, I have had lots of experience with bridal service people and businesses. Let me begin by saying I did not initially go here for my dress simply because of price. I was working on a budget and Lestans is not cheap, so I went to that chain of bridal stores...you all know the one. Anyway, after ordering a dress in that chain store, that was promised to me in time for my wedding, here I was 9 days before my wedding and no dress! So I went to Lestans. The salesperson Etty was wonderful. She has an eye for body type and what style of dress would look best. Well I found my dream dress, but it was a size too small. Because I had no time to order the correct size, they asked the head seamstress Josephine if she could work her magic, and that ladies she did! This woman is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! She literally took apart my dress and put it back together again, to find any extra material she could find to add to the dress so it would close. She was going on vacation in 3 days, so she asked if I could wait, and she would do most of the work that day within the hour. She stuck by her word, and after a ton of work by this fantasic woman, within the hour i was able to fit into my dress. My 2nd and final fitting was 2 days later, and all I have to do it pick it up tomorrow after its steamed. Needless to say I am VERY happy, and could not recommend them more. They truly went out of their way to accomodate on extremely short notice and literally saved me. I went into there in tears b/c I was fearful that it was too close to my day to find & fix a dress; and I left elated, and beaming with joy. I can't thank them enough! I was in a wedding on September 22nd, two days before the wedding the bride, another bridesmaid and I went to lesthan to pick up our dresses that we ordered, that's when disaster strikes. One bridesmaid ordered a size 14 and wanted to try it on to make sure it fit. She went into the fitting room and turned around and came right back out because they ordered a size 10. Instead of the associate at Lesthan apologizing for their mistake, the associate told the bride to have the bridesmaid try it on, eventhough it is the wrong size. Once the dress was on the Associate ""Eva"" had the seamstress come over and try to make adjustments to the dress so that it would fit for the wedding that is to happen in 2 days. At that point the bride asks ""Eva"" if the alterations were being covered by the company, and ""Eva's"" response was ""did I mention money!"" After the seamstress butchered the dress, we were told that the dress would be ready for pick-up at 2p.m. the next day. In the meantime, Eva was having the other dresses steamed and told us to pick them up in 20 minutes. When we returned 20 minutes later, ""Eva"" had another associate pack our dresses up and give them to us without say thank you or anything. It was as if she was trying to avoid any interaction with us, that's when I stepped in as a concerned bridesmaid to make sure that we would not have to pay for this dress that they ordered incorrectly and that they would have to butcher for the wedding in 2 days. ""Eva's"" response was no you have to pay off the balance of the dress or you will not have a dress for the wedding. At that point another associate jumped into the conversation and yelled at myself and the entire bridal party to leave the store if we didn't like the service we were given. That's exactly what we did and never went back. All I have to say is Thanks Lesthan for making a dream day turn into a Nightmare! I would not recommend this bridal shop to my worse enemy, that's how bad it is! more

Lestans is the Worse place to go to if you want a happy wedding experience. My experience with them has been a nigtmare. (More to come on that in the future). If you want to be stressed out beyond imagination while in the process of planning what should be the happiest ocassion of your life, then this is the place for you to go to get your wedding outfit. If you want to spend way too much for a dress, have it ordered 2 sizes bigger for you, pay extra to have it outfitted, have the seamstress be rude to you and treat you like you are a second class citizen, then this is the place for you. If you want to be lied to about the arrival of your outfit, then to be unhappy when it comes because as i said before, it's 2 sizes too big for you, then to have them try to fix it, then to be told that you shouldnt take it in because it wouldnt look right, all 1 week before the wedding, this is the place for you. If you want to have them order something for you which you did not order, then have to wait for them to send it back and get the right order, two weeks before the wedding, then this is the place for you. If you want horrible customer service, with employees who have no idea on how to measure you for an outfit, then this is the place for you. If you want to be scammed constantly, then this is the place for you. Each time I go there there's always an unhappy customer..and not just in my wedding party.\r \r I'm sorry to say that I do not trust them. They are liers and sceemers and it's all about the money for them. I would never recommend Lestans to anyone that I know. They are HORRIBLE. I'm sorry to say that my experience with them has been so bad, that I dont even like to look at the store when in the vacinity. My recommendation: Enter at your own risk. As a Christian woman I intend to give a fair and accurate assesment of Lestans. It is horrible. It is now 8 days before my wedding and I had my bridals party second fitting last night, they still have one more fitting to go 3 days before the wedding, this should not be the case. Now the reason this is so obsurd is because these dresses were ordered March 3rd, yes I said March. It is now August 18th and the biggest issue occured lastnight when we arrived for the 2nd fitting and after spending 2 weeks trying to find out where my Maid of Honors dress was to be presented with a dress other than the dress she ordered. Yes, they tried to convince us this was the dress but when you spend $500 on a dress you tend to remember what it looks like.The negative reviews are true, they are unethical and unprofessional, they order the dresses way too big then are unable to alter them sufficiently, my entire party is unhappy and I feel awful for putting them through this. My Maid of Honor ended up in tears. They refunded her the deposit which is strictly against their policy I take that as an indication of their guilt. This is suppose to be a wonderful experience but it has been a nightmare, I don't have enough space to express my unbelif dissapointment in this place. I say use wisdom because in my excitement and trust that they are professionals I didn't. I should have known when they ordered a size 20 dress foe a woman who is usually an 8 and a 24 for a woman who is a 16. Attention ladies:\r Aviod this place at all cost. These people are unprofessional, the place is dirty and they have no idea how to do alterations on a bridal dress. I ordered my dress in January and a week later when I called to confirm that the order was placed they told me no because I did not leave the minimum deposit for the dress which I was never told about and when I got there to leave more money the saleslady told me that the order was placed and then I was told that I would get call to let me know that the dress was in the store that never happened I had to call and then I was told that 6 weeks before my wedding I would get a postcard in the mail letting me know when to call for my first fitting that never happened either I had to stay on top of these people and I had to fight to get a saturday fitting . After reading all of these awful reviews about Lestan's on CitySearch, I really thought I should speak up. I visted Lestan's over this past weekend on a search for my wedding dress. This was my first visit to Lestan's, and the third bridal shop I had visited in the New York area.\r I had Etty as my personal consultant, and I was very pleased with her help and service. The other shops I had visited really had no idea what I was looking for, even after showing them pictures of the dress styles I liked. Etty, however, brought out gown after gown that matched my style PERFECTLY. She made suggestions throughout the process as to what I might like and how I might build upon my wedding dress ideas, and every time, she was *right on the money.* I finally felt like I was being listened to and understood! All through the trying-on process, Etty was there to help me into and out of gowns, and to supply various veils and numerous pieces of jewelry so I could get the real feel of what I might look like on my special day.\r In the end, I found a perfect dress at Lestan's that was not only beautiful, but WELL within my budget. I can't believe I found a such a gorgeous gown for such a bargain price! \r I also should note that the girls at Lestan's went beyond the ""call of duty"" and referred my mother, my bridesmaid and I to a local restaurant and give us the directions as well. Another horrible story. Lestan was supposed to order the bridesmaid dresses in January and didnt do so until March because of a 'mix up'. Then they tried to deny it and balmed the dresses for coming in late because they were held in customs for a month. Then the jackets came in a different color and material than the dress. So of course they would not express ship the new jackets and it took well over 2 weeks to receive them. The jackets came in about 5 days before the wedding date we gave them, which isnt a lot of time to do alterations. Like the other stories, my dress was also too large and too long. They told me i could come in for a fitting on a sunday. When i came in they told me there is never a seamstress in on sundays! Then they told me to come in on Thursday and said i would defiantly be able to get fitted. And when i called again they asked why i didnt make an appointment when they never told me i needed one. Now the lady i was talking to for a while that was the 'manager' tells me that the real manager is conveniently away on vacation this week. I will not receive any compensation or apology for the rude customer service and all the lies i heard. NEVER buy from Lestan!!!! Save yourself the hassle.
