Champion AC

I had Champion come out to repair my 1 year old air conditioner. I had the company that installed it come out to look at the unit, and the repairman came out, installed a part that he said should have been installed originally. It took him 10 minutes and he sat in his truck for another hour. We were charged $225 for that visit. A month later it went out again, so I called Champion. Jon came out an found the problem within minutes. The main power wire was extremely loose and was causing the unit to short out, which was tripping the breaker. I was charged $89 and he checked the entire system to make sure that was the only problem. Great Service at a Great Price. more

Justin showed up as scheduled and was very professional and courteous. He listened to my summary of the problem and immediately located the problem - the insulation inside the duct fell on top of the coils preventing/restricting proper air flow and caused condensation to fill drip pan and discharge onto the patio. He also topped off the freon which was a tad low and did all of this in a timely manner. He took the time to explain everything he needed to do before doing it. I learned a lot by watching him work and now have a greater understanding of how the entire system works. Great Job! Need to Thank Jon Weixel for helping me out in a tough bind. My AC was not working and thought I was going to need a whole new system in place because I had gotten it serviced by another company and that is what they had told me. That there was no life left in the system and very frankly we were not prepared to spend that kind of money. So I called Champion AC and the next day Jon came over and explained that the outside unit still had life in it and that there were a couple things he could do to make it cool again. He explained what I would need to do to extend the life of the system and then explained that the size of the system was to low. I will be prepared in a couple years to change the system and I will not hesitate as to who I am calling to replace the system. I am calling Champion AC were honest hard working people give honest quotes and aren't really looking to make money of you. They treat you like family!!! more

I have called this company 3 times recently, and had 3 different people work on our A/C units. Shawn was the most recent one to work on our system, and have had both Rene and Brad out. Each one had been professional and efficient and explained the various problems and solved them. The office staff are also great, and do their best to schedule appointments ASAP, and notify you when the tech is en route. I would highly recommend this company. more

First I want to thank Gilbert for explaining everything and working with me. I wanted a 16 seer and that is what he showed me. I had 2 other companies come to my house and they disregarded what I wanted and tried to sell me their most expensive units. I went with the traine and I am very pleased . It is quiet and with all new unit in the attic and outside, house cools off quicker and feels less humid. I aso get a rebate from cps. I want to thank Jason and Chris, they worked their buts off all day, the temps were bad, I felt sorry for them, but they hung in there until the job was finished. I would highly recommend them and I am also a veteran and a spurs fan. more

we had our a/c unit go out on a Thursday and i called Champion on Friday to come check it out. the out side unit was dead, so they set us up with a new Lennox system to be installed on Saturday. Jason and Chris showed up and knocked it out of the park, they were very friendly and helpful though the process. they didn't even mind my dog running around while they worked. very very good service. thank you for all your help. more

He also ended up upgrading our units because they were out of the units we originally ordered because they were out of stock. I called these guys out and I was skeptical at first, I don't trust many people. Alex tiner came to my home and inspected my system and kept me up to date the whole time. It was top notch. Gave a few options, pros and cons of each and I was cooling in no time. Don't be fooled by the other guys like I was. Call the real deal. more

I am currently redoing a rental property and needed a whole new AC and duct system installed. During this process I have gone through various companies and most have been mediocre or just plain awful. So, I took my time and went through companies when getting quotes. Gilbert was very professional when he came for the quote. He was all business and took time really looking at the current system and problem areas. He wasn't your typical "hype" advisor that you usually see. I told him what I wanted, what I needed, and he didn't try to over sale. He took pictures of damaged areas that could use improvement and showed us while explaining how it would be beneficial. The pricing was almost right at what I wanted to spend and Champion was doing more than other companies that were quoting more. I decided to go with them and contacted Gilbert. I live out of town and called short noticed hoping that I could get the dates I wanted. Gilbert made it happen quick. The day that the work started, I was contacted by the leading technician...Javier. He confirmed all the times and asked if they could start onthe outside before schedule. Both Javier and Brad hard working. They presented themselves very respectful and were professional in manner and appearance. They job was completed at the time stated. What I was really impressed with was after all the work was completed, a supervisor came out and inspected their work. There were minor changes that needed to be adjusted but nothing major. I appreciated a company that is so concerned about the quality of their work that they send out a supervisor. Most companies are happy with collecting your money and could care less if their technicans are performing well. I highly recommend them. I will also use them again in the future. more

Wanted to charge us $2500 to replace the fan motor. When we told him that was ridiculous and over priced, he said they could do it for $800. We got another company out to do the same work for $250. This company is shady; stay away. more

We knew we needed a new a/c, but we waited too long! We called Champion and Chris showed up within an hour! He spent over 2 hours in no a/c explaining all my options and walking thru everything. He was so great in making the process as painless as possible. When you are spending thousands of dollars, you want to make the right decision. So glad he was able help us make the correct one. Alex andAlex Jr showed up the NEXT morning for install! I was so impressed how quickly they were able to set up the install! And Alex and Alex spent all day in temperatures over a 100 to get the system installed correctly, always answering any question I had. They left my house clean and put together with everything installed correctly. I can't say enough! The customer service was amazing and the customer service and technical skill was great! Had an issue with my ac unit after hours. Called the guys at Champion ac. Was told that a tech Shawn could come out and take a look at my unit. He showed up very quickly and was extremely polite and professional. Within a matter of minutes Shawn had the problem diagnosed and fixed. more

We recently had a new unit installed in our home with Champion AC in San Antonio, the unit was installed improperly which resulted in both pans filling up with water, over flowing into our attic, water dripping out of vents onto hardwood floor and bed, we called for repairs, they did promptly respond on unit repair but we had extensive water damage to walls, ceilings, attic in one side of home...we were told they would get someone to repair immediately, waited for days, week and after several contacts with office, nothing was done, no follow through, then we had mold in our home as a result of their delay to fix the water damage, 2 weeks later, not to mention the emotional climax we had with them to get this repaired, someone came to repair, they tore out only partial part of damage area to repair, left 12 bags of contaminated mold at our home, and then left for 3 days before returning with open attic, lights on in attic, it is June and we need air on, needless to say we could not have any air because of the open exposed attic left, we also had to pay someone to remove the contaminated bags of mold, two physician visits plus cost of meds for respiratory, and skin conditions due to the mold, a 2 yrs old medical attention for respiratory due to mold, and now they will only repair the actual area that the water FLOWED to and what was still wet TWO weeks later...This poor customer service has caused extensive damage to our home, lives, and other lives and health as well...and they think a partial fix of two infected rooms is good enough...Very dissatisfied with Champion AC...Please consider these things when considering using them...they can wreck your life, as well as your finances, they charged thousands of dollars for a unit that they installed wrong, and then have caused thousands more on the damage to our home...and will not fix the full issue as of date...and the small portion they are fixing is very small and we have had to fight for that...because of their partial fix of repairs where the installation in attic laid damp, there will be much more mold to come in a much larger area. ugly, ugly company! more

My wife and I returned to live in San Antonio after living in northern Virginia for 30 years. Four air conditioner/heating units needed attention, and to my great satisfaction, Champion AC sent HVAC technician Shawn Goerndt to my home. Shawn was on time, clean-cut, relentlessly professional and knowledgeable and even more personable. He diagnosed each of the issues I had identified with care, explaining each step and why it was necessary in an intelligible lay-language manner. He also was honest about what (very little!) he didn't know--a trait too infrequently encountered, even with those far less capable than he. His handling a nettlesome noise problem with one of the units was especially notable. At all times, he focused on what I needed, not what he could sell me, and explained options in detail. I asked about the company itself, and he said the owner, Ben Hubbert, treated the employees like true team members, not hired hands, which makes all the difference. In summary, I could not be happier with my service from Champion, and especially for the terrific, non-pariel service from technician Shawn Goerndt. more

Great customer service from start to finish! The technicians were polite and extremely meticulous. The AC is awesome and the followup calls and taking care of the energy rebate was a particularly nice touch. Rarely do i encounter this type of attention to detail. Thank you! more
