I've been a fan of Baby Blues for a long time. They have stupendous sweet tea, perfect pecan pie, bitchin' blackened catfish, and kickin' collard greens. Everything here rocks. I ...

The place is not the cleanest, our table was still greasy even after they wiped it with the dreaded wet towel, I sat there trying not to touch the table with any part of my body. ...

Sad experience, very disappointed 8/2/2007

We read all of the hype and stopped in to see what the deal was. This is a tiny place, fairly clean and has a plain yet pleasant look. This place ain't cheap. Probably one of the most expensive barbeque places in L.A. As far as the food, we were sadly disappointed in the portions and the quality. The baby back ribs were tepid and flavorless, the so called hot link was nothing more than a hot dog and the sauces were uninspiring. Bland & Blase would sum it up. The cornbread was also a big disappointment, served cold and hard. More of a local place and definately not a destination restaurant. If you're in the neighborhood you may take a chance and not worth driving to. Hopefully it will get better soon. Pros: pleasant coffee shop type atmosphere Cons: Bland & blase ribs, hot links and cornbread more

Great food, not enough tables 7/3/2007

Went to Baby Blues Bar-B-Q around 6:30pm on a Tuesday night. They were out of pork and beef which is interesting for a BBQ place. We were disappointed that we couldn't get our first choices of beef brisket and a pulled pork sandwich, but went with the recommendations of our server and got ribs and BBQ shrimp instead. Pros: Food, price Cons: seating, ambience, parking more

The food was wonderful, ribs were juicy and perfectly cooked. BBQ shrimp was unique and I would highly recommend everyone try it, even if it's just on the side. Go with the mac and cheese for a side dish - it's to die for.
It was crowded and a there was only 1 server as far as we could see. She was great, but it took a while to order and to get our food. Plan a night where you are not in a hurry and go out for great food - take your time and enjoy great BBQ on the west coast. more

Unfreakin' real! 5/17/2007

great in every way. you can bring your own beers and the beef ribs and brisket are insane! especially the ribs, last time I was there they had one huge rib instead of the 3-4 regular beef ribs and it may have been the best meal of my life! Pros: Phenomenal food Cons: No alcohol (byob) more

WHOA! 5/8/2007

I live less than 5 miles away and about a month ago a neighbor told me it was a must-go. Well I went Sunday night and HOLY COW! The moment my beau and I stepped in the door, the waitress came right up to us and said, ""Hi, Darlings"" and I knew I was home (which, by the way, is Birmingham, Alabama, so I know a few things about bbq). O.K. Here we go. The shrimp are phenomenal. I could eat those every day. The baby back ribs were (Lord, please don't strike me down) a dead-even tie for the best I've ever had (tied with my grand daddy's - who was a pit master). The mac n' cheese was second only to the collard greens which were amazing. Skip the mashed potatoes and get the sweet mash instead. They're much better. To be honest, let the waitress order for you. She's a fireball and knows the menu probably better than the cooks. AND GET THE BANANA PUDDING! more

I was nervous to write this review because I don't want this place to get too packed, but I guess that's too late because we waited almost an hour for a table - the only down side to the place. (I recommend waiting at the counter and watching the magic on the grill. The grill master (Edi???) is fun to watch. Fair warning - don't stand in the doorway - you'll get an earfull. more

Baby Blues does it right 4/8/2007

We have been looking for good BBQ in LA for years. We have found it at Baby Blues! Everything from the ribs, to the shrimp, to the collard greens were great. The mac and cheese was so good that we ordered 2 extra servings, and the link sausage had the perfect smoke to it. We had heard that the corn was good, but good is not the right word to describe the combo of cotija cheese and the grill. The word is fantastic! The staff was fun, and the atmosphere was alive. I would recommend anyone who wants some good Q to go to Baby Blues Pros: Great food more

i thought this place ought to be great... it was crowded (granted it is a very small place) and it took 1/2 hour to get us seated on a wednesday night and there was a stream of people picking up their take out orders. so i was excited.... my friend's pulled pork was just ok. my baby back ribs was also.... just ok. the mac and cheese was also, just ok. my friend's okra, was also just ok. not bad, but nothing spectacular. more

great west side bbq 3/11/2007

Ok, so I'm no bbq expert, but I do enjoy it. I used to live in San Diego and down there was a place called Real Texas BBQ on Miramar road that has the best pulled pork I've ever had. So when I moved to LA I heard about Baby Blues and decided to give it a try. Of course the first thing I got was the pulled pork, with sides of beans and coleslaw. I've got to say I was not impressed by the pork. It seemed to lack flavor, and when I read about Baby Blues using a gas grill rather than wood, things seemed to come together. The Real Texas BBQ place used wood, and it gave the meat a much tastier flavor. The brisket is decent, but I wouldn't rave about it. Pros: great ribs, shrimp, mac & cheese, coleslaw, and corn on the cob Cons: brisket and pulled pork are merely average, cramped inside more

In fact, I was wondering what all the hype was about this place until tonight. After reading some more of the reviews, tonight I tried the baby back ribs, the memphis ribs, and the shrimp, with corn on the cob & mac and cheese as sides. All of it was incredible. The meat fell right off the bones and was tasty, the shrimp are the best shrimp of any kind that I've ever had. The reviews about the spices were right on the money. The corn was delicious and the parmesan cheese was a unique touch. I'll definitely be sticking to the shrimp and the ribs from now on! Pros: great ribs, shrimp, mac & cheese, coleslaw, and corn on the cob Cons: brisket and pulled pork are merely average, cramped inside more

Great BBQ, Great Service 3/9/2007

My boyfriend and I went here for the first time to celebrate his birthday, and we loved this place! The service was a little slow, but only because the server was friendly and talked with everyone (it felt like being in a restaurant in the south). She was sweet and at the end of our meal, she had everyone in the restaurant say Happy Birthday. The food was great. The meat was so tender that my boyfriend could take it right off the bone with his fork. Both the chicken and brisket were tender and juicy as well. The sweet mashed potatoes were heavenly, and the corn on the cob was unique and tasty. We recommend this place to anyone who likes BBQ. Pros: Friendly Service; Great Ambience Cons: Parking is very hard to find more
