Best

I've been a fan of Baby Blues for a long time. They have stupendous sweet tea, perfect pecan pie, bitchin' blackened catfish, and kickin' collard greens. Everything here rocks. I ...

Worst

The place is not the cleanest, our table was still greasy even after they wiped it with the dreaded wet towel, I sat there trying not to touch the table with any part of my body. ...

I love this place. It's hilarious to see the bad reviews that mention other places in the review almost IMMEDIATELY. Two reviews are nearly identical. Look, you clowns, if you're gonna have your friends or lackeys write a review, see if you can keep them from copying off each other! On to Baby Blues. I LOVE BBQ and have been to all 50 states and I've eaten at Carson's in Chicago, Gates and Arthur Bryant's in KC, backwoods shacks in Louisiana and Mississippi, the best Texas has to offer and St. Louis just to name a few. Baby Blues ranks among my favorites nationwide and absolutely lays WASTE to the sorry joints in LA. The menu is ridiculous. You know how many sides they have? FIFTEEN. I'm gonna be honest and say that the chicken smoked rice left me cold, but 14 out of 15 ain't bad. The cornbread has always been moist and spicy. The greens rock and the mac and cheese is superb. I've been there a dozen times and I'm working my way through the menu. I will admit that on one visit, my ribs were looking pretty beat and I told the waitress. She took them away and soon after, one of the owners came over with a new 1/2 slab of baby backs that were spot on perfect. I can't remember his name, but he's the tall blond guy. Anyway, no one is perfect, but you can tell alot about a place by the way they handle the problems. These guys are for real. The staff is courteous and they genuinely seem to like each other and what they're doing. It feels like home. I was surprised by the depth of the menu. I love steak, but was unsure if theirs would be any good. WOW. I've had steak all over the world and although it can't compete with the steak I had in Argentina or the Kobe I had in Japan, it wallops the best steakhouses in LA. The beast is TWELVE ounces and exquisite. It's covered in chipoltle butter and damn near fork tender. I have eaten at nearly all the BBQ joints in LA. No need to mention them by name or write scathing reviews. I have found the place I want to eat at. Period. Pros: Food, staff and music. Cons: Parking, almost always packed. more

WEIRD FLAVOR IN THE MEAT 8/1/2006

Heard about this place recently & checked it out yesterday. The ribs & chicken had a foul natural gas like odor that permeated the meat. It made the meal unedible. The sides were decent but not stellar. The only redeeming value was the fact that it wasn't busy so the service was good. Not worth the hype they've received recently. Pros: not very busy so service was decent Cons: foul gas odor in the meat, very expensive for what is served more

Sadly disappointed in our visit 7/30/2006

We've heard a lot about Baby Blues & finally dropped this past weekend. It is a very small restaurant with tables pretty much on top of each other. Not enough room between them for a private conversation. We found the menu over priced & the food for the most part underwhelming. Except for the grilled corn everything else was at best mediocore. Either they have a great PR firm working 24/7 or they have brainwashed patrons who don't know a good dinner from a TV dinner. This place is a marketers dream but they forgot about the quality of the food promoted. Sorry & sadly stated but true. Pros: grilled corn Cons: All of the meats left us underwhelmed. more

best ribs EVER! 7/27/2006

No really. I had dinner at Baby Blues the other night and the Baby Back ribs were the best I've ever had. Mac & Cheese, Baked Beans, and Corn Bread were equally as good. It did take a little longer than I expected to get my food, but well worth the wait. I'll go back for sure. A+ more

WOW........ Try this BBQ Joint! 7/26/2006

This is the best BBQ on the west side. Great ribs, sides and banana pudding :) I don't know what they use for rubbing the ribs but it sure tastes good. Some of the reviews I read say the pulled pork sandwich is the best but I didn't try the pork. Next time for sure. Pros: Great tasting food, not to expensive for BBQ. Cons: Small and busy. more

Couldn't pay me to go back... 7/25/2006

I've never been to a restaurant, casual or formal, that allows servers to talk on their cell phones while working with patrons or ignore customers. The food was ok-- the shrimp was good as were the mashed sweet potatoes. But the mac n cheese... my dog could have made better! The corn bread tasted more like greasy rubber. Both my boyfriend and I got sick from the food. Overall, the AWFUL service combined with the disgusting food makes this place a D- in my book... and I'm being generous. Pros: Good shrimp and rich, fatty deserts Cons: Terrible service, bad side dishes more

Great Food Served in a Dump 7/25/2006

LOVE their bar-b-que. The place is a dump, so best to get take-out. Small, hot, wobbly tables and chairs and slow service. But the bar-b-que is wonderful. more

The worst bbq I have ever had. I read the reviews before going, and I don't understand who could have given it a 9.0. The mac and cheese was horrible. The only side I liked were the beans. And they were just decent. The chicken was burnt...not bbq'd. The ribs were not seasoned. I wondered if they taste the food before they service it. the previous reviewers were either friends or the owner. Stay away. Pros: the bbq sauce was good. Cons: the food wasn't tasty..I didn't care for it at all. more
