Best

I've been a fan of Baby Blues for a long time. They have stupendous sweet tea, perfect pecan pie, bitchin' blackened catfish, and kickin' collard greens. Everything here rocks. I ...

Worst

The place is not the cleanest, our table was still greasy even after they wiped it with the dreaded wet towel, I sat there trying not to touch the table with any part of my body. ...

Best BBQ in LA! 6/27/2006

As a true blue Carolina girl in LA, this is the best BBQ joint by far! I recommend everything from the grilled shrimp to the Carolina-style pulled pork. The corn on the cob is the best I've ever had EVER, as is the Mac 'n Cheese! I love the ""hole in the wall"" atmosphere because that's what true BBQ is all about. BYOB and have a grand time! more

Best BBQ on the West Coast 6/20/2006

Flew to L.A. from NY and was told to go there. I cannot believe how that place is not on the top of every list out there. The St Louis ribs (called Memphis on the menu) were the best I've ever had. The Babybacks were great, but I was too enamored by the Memphis to think about anything else. The BBQ shrimp are absolutely mandatory. The sides are not what you'd expect. Kinda soul food meets haute cuisine. The service was great, albeit sassy. The place was fun. The neighborhood is not great, but eat and get off that damned street. Absolute A+. (And I've been to some of the best.) Pros: Everything on the menu Cons: The street that the restaurant is on. more

I FOUND A GEM ON THE WESTSIDE! 5/30/2006

My friend brought me to Baby Blues last night after raving about their amazing BBQ. Well, he was right! This place has the best freakin ribs around. In addition, thier mac and cheese...is out of this world. It's a small place, with a lot of charm and an amazing waitstaff. I also was surprised on the amount of qulaity food you get for the price. I left that place satisfied and happy knowing that I have the best BBQ right in my own back yard. What a nice surprise....thanks Baby Blues...you rock! Pros: inexpensive for BBQ, great atmosphere, quality food more

Great Time, Awesome Food 1/23/2006

We had a craving for really good BBQ, so we stopped by here to pick up some food. As we have ordered from here many times before, we knew we would get great, flavorful BBQ. At the last minute we decided to eat at the restaurant and ended up at the bar. I am so glad we stayed b/c the atmosphere and aroma was well worth it. We ordered the baby back rib platter and Texas beef rib platter and just about licked the plates clean -- certainly not because there wasn't enough food. We ended up talking to the chefs and found them very laid back and friendly. We ended up getting samples of shrimp, braised beef AND pulled pork. We has so much flavorful food we had to roll ourselves out of the restaurant. Pros: flavor, laid-back, staff Cons: BYOB, small more

What makes Baby Blues so special isn't just the fact that you realize the tremendous value you're getting when you see the generous portions or taste your first delicious bite ... it's the attention to detail in the wide variety of entrees, side dishes, and desserts on the menu. These guys are passionate about BBQ and have perfected every aspect of their operation ... from the down-home, friendly atmosphere to the exacting preparation of the rubs and sauces (which are all made from scratch). The multitude of flavors for their finger-lickin' dishes are unique and put a different twist on typical BBQ. If you're a fan of this type of fare, you owe it to yourself to check this place out ... it's LA's best-kept BBQ secret. They deliver, so enjoying Carolina-style ribs, pork, and brisket in the comfort of your own home is a quick phone call away. more

Great place for real bbq!! 10/7/2005

Went here last night and had a very enjoyable dinner. Unfortunately we were seated on the "south side" which is the sidewalk on Sunset where we sat for 20 minutes before anyone came to us. The waitress apologized. They were pretty busy. The food made up for everything!! Baby backs ...to die for!! Pulled pork...to kill for!! The sides were great with generous portions. We couldn't fit everything on our table. I think the prices were good, but the quality of food made the prices great. Fun decorations inside but a little sparce. All in all...Baby Blues is Da Bomb!!! Pros: prices, bbq, parking Cons: service more

The place for pulled pork!!!!! 9/5/2005

Wow! I was expecting a higher rating for this place! Baby Blue's is some of the best BBQ I've eaten. The pulled pork is a must (super melt in your mouth tender).......as is the pork 'n beans (bbq beans w/ that amazing pulled pork)! I absolutely love their creamed spinach! Whereas most places you get a lot of cream and little (most often frozen) spinach, Baby Blue's version has more FRESH spinach than cream! .....and like what one of the other critics said, the waitresses are hot (and really nice)! Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Service more

Try this place 8/26/2005

I just recently got into ribs, and wanted to try this place. The ribs were excellent, but the sides blew me away. Get the 1/2 rack with shrimp (party in your mouth) and for the two sides - mac-n-cheese and corn on the cob. My grandma makes home made mac, and I'm ashamed to say that I liked the mac at Baby Blues better. Another review said the banana pudding was amazing, but they were out. We had a peach-custard-cake dessert instead that was so good. The music is a little loud, and the decor isn't what you'd expect of a BBQ place, but who cares. I'm coming back for more. more
