I've been a fan of Baby Blues for a long time. They have stupendous sweet tea, perfect pecan pie, bitchin' blackened catfish, and kickin' collard greens. Everything here rocks. I ...

The place is not the cleanest, our table was still greasy even after they wiped it with the dreaded wet towel, I sat there trying not to touch the table with any part of my body. ...

Fishy reviews here. 9/18/2007

It seems to me that some of these bad reviews are written by the same people. How many people use the word tepid? This place is great. Don't listen to the people who like to go against the grain just to be the ones who stand out. I've taken about 15 people to this place and they all ranged from ""yeah that's some good s**t"" to ""wow that's my new favorite place."" One of the owners names is Danny, I spoke to him a few times. The dude knows what's up. Super nice guy, no reason not to support the place. The food is awesome and there's a good family vibe going on in there. LOL to the last guy about the ""blowhards."" Well put. People who leave bad comments on places that are obviously not bad are indeed blowhards. Give this place a try, it rocks. Pros: awesome food and one waitress looks like a hot rachel ray Cons: my stomach is too small to fit one of everything more

Come on guys.... 9/17/2007

It's quite sad to me when people come online and give 1 or 2 star ratings for stupid reasons. I have no idea what most of you negative people are yapping about. Being ""overhyped"" is not a reason to dislike anything. Thats an indication that you give more credibility to what others say than to your own opinion. ---- Pros: The whole package. Make sure you try the babybacks, corn on the cob and mac n cheese. Cons: A little pricey but you get what you pay for. Don't be a cheap-o. Good food costs money. more

Being "overhyped" is not a reason to dislike anything. Thats an indication that you give more credibility to what others say than to your own opinion. ---- Here's the real deal about Baby Blue's from a guy who stumbled upon it. No bias, no BS. I've had A LOT of BBQ in my day. I've been here about 10 times now, and only after 10 times would I dare leave a comment. Who forms an opinion after one dinner? Are you nuts? Every place has an off day, don't be a punk and slam a place for that. The mac n cheese is great, especially when they leave lots of "burnt" pieces in it. Seems to have some blue or gorgonzola in it. For that one moron who said it had green and blue bits of mold.. oh come on. The corn on the cob (with cotija cheese?) isn't a new idea but they do it well and it's excellent. Beans are fantastic, might do without the kidney beans though. Okra is usually very well cooked and tasty. Babybacks are fall-off-the-bone good with a good shot of seasoning. The beef rib is a Fred-Flintstone sized single bone with a hunk of tender, crispy (burnt on occasion) beef. Again, very good. In fact, I've had just about everything they make here and truthfully, it's in my top 3 So-Cal BBQ spots. Its not the biggest or fanciest place, but then again, if it were, it would lose its flavor. The place is dumpy and that's exactly how it should be. The cooks really care about their food, the waitresses care about their jobs (and they're cute too!). Bottom line is that this place is WAY above average and they're on point about 85 - 90% of the time. If you like $9 meals and coupons for God's sake, just stay home. It's not cheap but really, it's not expensive. If you don't like this place then you're either being an elitist blow-hard or you really don't know good BBQ. Baby Blue's is excellent. Pros: The whole package. Make sure you try the babybacks, corn on the cob and mac n cheese. Cons: A little pricey but you get what you pay for. Don't be a cheap-o. Good food costs money. more

Un F'inbelievable 9/13/2007

I've eaten the que from philly to bama to memphis to texas. This holds Top 3 (I can't believe I'm even gonna say it, but may be #1) for me anywhere. The Memphis ribs were second to none. The babies are a close running with Pig Bob's in Alabama. The pulled pork beats anywhere I've had in the Carolinas and the sides are all worthy of high praise. One note, they don't have home made lemonade. They say they do it in the summer, but didn't this summer because it was too crazy. But I just moved out here to the west coast and am gonna hold them to it (seeing how I'll be there once a week if not more). If you don't like this place, you're looking to not like it. One last note, they have the hottest waitress on the planet (but I won't say which one lest she reads this and figures out who I am). A freakin' plus! Pros: Absolutely everything Cons: no home made lemonade more

Not as good as the hype. 9/5/2007

OVER-RATED to say the least. Finally stopped off at this place after dropping a friend off at LAX. It's tiny, a little dirty and very over priced. I'm talking about bringing your Black AMEX. The ribs were served tepid, the sausage was bland and the vaunted corn corn was not good at all. I will say that our server was friendly and seemed to like working here. TV restaurant critic Elmer Dills always said that if you if you can't smell the smoke down the street keep on driving. That's what we should have done. Take a pass on this place. Pros: server was nice Cons: Too expensive, tough ribs, tepid more

The green and blue ""specs"" mind you, are actually pieces of blue cheese. We use blue cheese in the mac n' cheese and mashed potatoes. I'm sorry you had that scare, but fear not, my friend - the food is made fresh daily. more

Tasty food, questionable standards 8/24/2007

I know everyone loves loves loves this place... and we were enjoying a big meal of ribs and brisket and several sides. And then we discovered specs of blue and green in our mac and cheese. We were shocked and really dissappointed to find what appeared to us to be mold. Very sad. Would not go back because of this reason alone, although everything else was really tasty. more

Absolutely the best barbecue in Los Angeles if not all of California... 8/14/2007

If you are the only person who loves barbecue who hasn't seen this restaurant featured on the Food Network (hint: you can watch the clip on their website), it really is beyond compare. Moist, tender, flavorful ribs (take your pick of beef, babyback or Memphis-style) have been smoked to perfection and then lovingly grilled to order. The pulled pork is crafted from a secret family recipe and the barbecue sauces are delectably spicy and full of flavor and all made from scratch. You won't find more succulent, meat-falling-off-the-bone barbecued chicken and the corn on the cob comes smoky covered with butter and cotija cheese crumbles...ingenious! My favorites, however, are the grilled shrimp (which are juicy, plump and deliciously accompanies by a spicy aoli sauce) and the seriously flash fried okra (which keeps them from getting gummy)...mouthwatering!! Also not to miss is the sinfully rich mac and cheese, jalapeno cornbread and of course, creamy banana pudding or homemade pie for dessert. Though the lines can get long on the weekends, I can definitely see why people choose to wait like they do for the amazing food. The service is cheerful and friendly and the decor is casual but fun and festive. Go early and bring your appetite...you'll want to eat your way through the entire menu to find your own favorites!! more
