Best

I've been a fan of Baby Blues for a long time. They have stupendous sweet tea, perfect pecan pie, bitchin' blackened catfish, and kickin' collard greens. Everything here rocks. I ...

Worst

The place is not the cleanest, our table was still greasy even after they wiped it with the dreaded wet towel, I sat there trying not to touch the table with any part of my body. ...

Great neighborhood place place for ribs 12/11/2008

Excellent food, great casual atmosphere and friendly staff. We've started going here on a weekly basis. The chef and owners have even been known to come around and chat with the guests. The chicken sandwich is delicious. It comes piled high with coleslaw and you can't go wrong with any of the sides. I think the corn is the best, with tons of sprinkled parmesan cheese. But i especailly liked the ribs. highly recommend to anyone more

Great BBQ in Venice, Restored My love for Ribs 11/26/2008

I heard about this place from the ""Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives"" show on the Food Network. I went there for lunch yesterday, no waiting for a table, two great waitresses, incredible ribs (I gave the nod to the baby backs over the Memphis style) and mashed sweet potatoes that were sweet enough to double as dessert!!! Pros: Ribs, Sweet Potatoes and Service Cons: It is a one hour drive from my home more

I went there for lunch yesterday, no waiting for a table, two great waitresses, incredible ribs (I gave the nod to the baby backs over the Memphis style) and mashed sweet potatoes that were sweet enough to double as dessert!!! Danny, the owner, even came out to my table to make sure everything was alright. He actually comped me some excellent collard greens and a delicious BBQ tiger shrimp to boot. It was well worth the one hour drive down the PCH to eat here, can't wait to return. Pros: Ribs, Sweet Potatoes and Service Cons: It is a one hour drive from my home more

Good food, fun experience 8/22/2008

Tried this place after seeing the lines and reading the amazing reviews. I don' t think I can say it's the best BBQ I've ever had, but it was good and it was nice to get a good variety in the menu, with lots of choices of different types of BBQ (Memphis, Kansas City, Texas-style, etc.) I liked the sides and overall the place had a fun atmosphere - very relaxed, but decently lit and classier than you would expect from looking at the outside. The service was excellent, and they even gave us a double portion of the famous banana cream pie dessert. Again, not the most unbelievable thing I've ever had, but good. We waited about 15-20 minutes for a table, not too bad considering the lines I usually see outside. Pros: Good food, good menu variety, good ambience Cons: Wait for a table more

One of the worst meals (on any genre) I have ever eaten in a restaurant. I actually considered refusing to pay. 8/17/2008

I do not understand why there is always such a long line for this place. I grew up down the street from it and so I by no means claim to know about authentic bbq of any kind. However, I do know if food is good or not and the food served at this place was BAD! The meat was fine but the side dishes were HORRIBLE. My biggest complaint about most bbq places is that they serve flavorless side dishes and this place was worst I have ever had. The mac n cheese was watery with clumps of cheese that had separated from the cream base. My mother and I were in disbelief that they would serve it. The beans were absolutely flavorless which I can never understand because baked beans are the easiest things in the world to make taste good. They would have been better off opening a can of Bush's. Pros: It's close to my home Cons: The side dishes are awful more

This place was so bad that I fully intended to go back and give it another try. I have to assume that my meal there had to be a fluke because nothing else explains why there is always a line to get in. Like I said, I fully intended to go back but I still can't seem to muster any enthusiasm for the challenge. I wish I knew what everyone in line knows. Best Bar-B-Q Ever! 6/12/2008

Best Bar-B-Q Ever! I read the review below about the person who was there on Memorial Day weekend and could not disagree more about the service. I thought it was great. Especially considering it was Memorial Day, and was busier than usual. I found the entire waitstaff polite, prompt and very friendly. I thought the place was exceptionally clean, especially for a Bar-B-Q restaurant. Pros: Awesome more

It is amazing that a Bar-B-Q place this awesome is located in Venice Beach of all places. If you haven't been, and want some good food - I highly recommend Baby Blues. A line out the door is usually a good sign of good food. If you don't like lines, there is always the to-go option. The food won't disappoint you, I guarantee. Also, they have some pretty cool t-shirts for sale. Pros: Awesome Cons: None more

Worth the Hoopla 6/9/2008

A week ago my wife and I were driving down Lincoln and smelled barbeque and noticed a large group of people standing on a corner. The next Friday we were looking at Bobby Flay on the food channel and he was in a barbeque place named Baby Blues here in LA. I googled Baby Blues and saw it was the same place we had passed. We went around 1:00. There were people lined up waiting for tables. We ordered the Memphis Queen, which is baby backs and Memphis ribs, to go. We also ordered the Mac and Cheese and corn on the cob sides. The service was quick and the food was to die for. I've always loved Woodys, but this place was the best I've ever tasted. My only disappointment was that they were out of the pulled pork and the brisket. Since it was early, that means that they don't have everything everyday. But the place was worth all the great things they're saying about it. Pros: Parking, Service, Ambience Cons: Did not have several menu items more

THEY NAILED IT! 5/3/2008

O.K., here's the deal: I went skeptically tonight because the last two reviews said it wasn't authentic and they didn't smoke their meats. But my work associate forced us into going. Holy cow, indeed (as one of the reviewers said). I cannot find one thing wrong with the place. Actually, that's not true. The wait is long. Now, for those who said they don't smoke their meat, you are mistaken. I told the owner (Rick, I believe) that the rumor was out that the meat was not smoked. He then gave me a tour of the kitchen, and yes, they have 4 smokers and use a combination of hickory and apple woods. I thought it was a nice touch that he did that. Then we ate. The ribs were stellar. The sides (we split 5) were all excellent. The cornbread was great. And they have PBR. This place needs beds so I can move in. If you're a review junkie, take my advise and go. Oh, and for the record, I am from , Abbeville, Alabama. Born and raised. So I know a thing or two (or three) about barbecue. Good show, fellas. - Rob from Bama. Pros: Everything Cons: They won't let me move in more
