What a breath of fresh air, away from the hipster restaurants and college bars downtown is Tir Na Nog. Despite its open atmosphere, the friendly staff and ambiance make it a cozy experience. I love sitting at the bar on a Friday night, the bartenders and waitresses know their stuff and always make great suggestions for soemthing new to drink. The guiness wings are out of the world, smoky, sweet, and a little spicy, which is just what you need to go with your pint. The sunday brunches are great, it's a great way to try traditional Irish-American food if you're a little gunshy. It's the first place I take any of my friends visiting Raleigh.
Pros: live music, great food, friendly
Cons: can be a little loud, don't expect intimate chats
