Best

Big and perfect steaks. That says it all. And the other items on the menu are great also.

Worst

Dumping a ton of butter on a steak, does not make it good. :( nor does the burning sensation as the grease/butter pops onto you when they serve it at the table.

Best chain steakhouse in America 1/25/2011

Don't let the chain name throw you, this is a quality place for a steak and this location is no different. more

A high priced sports bar 8/14/2010

Sorry. You’ll have to decide if it’s what you want.\r We thought that it was a fine dinning of some sort by the prices and description. We so wanted to feel relaxed and comfortable in that type of setting. Having read that a dress code existed, we dress accordingly, it did not seem to be put in operation on the night we went.\r No way indeed ! A sports bar with flat screen televisions and the right cliental to match with loud voices. \r Some people there looked like they had come directly from a building site with out changing. Some never heard of an Iron. We felt out of place. \r Food good, service fine and valets polite. I personally can watch TV at home.\r more

GREAT FOOD HORRIBLE CLIENTELE 2/15/2010

I would like to start this office by stating I am not the type of person to throw out all the negatives and forget about the positives. Last night my wife and I had dinner at Ruth Chris’s Steakhouse in Beverly Hills, CA. The food was great, the service was excellent but the atmosphere was horrible! When we showed up there were a large group of African Americans dressed like rap stars smoking cigarettes and using extremely foul language in front of restaurant. Inside was worse! I don’t know what RCS did but I remember when this restaurant opened, and it was a very classy place. Now with the amount of trashy clientele that habitats the restaurant WE will not be coming back. I can understand lowering prices to meet what the economy will bare, but to lower your standards of the clientele and dress code would make even Ruth Chris roll in her grave. I was embarrassed to bring my girlfriend and felt I should have bucked up and spent the extra $50.00 and had the same meal (but without the rap show) at Maestro’s, Grille on the Alley or even Woflgang’s. At least they hold to a standard that Ruth Chris’s lost when the economy fell. Pros: GREAT FOOD EXCELLENT SERVICE Cons: POOR CLIENTELE OFFENSIVE DRESS CODE more

Very good fillet and excellent, unparalleled service, even when we complain about one of the entrees 2/11/2009

I went to Ruth's Chris last night for a birthday dinner and was pleasantly surprised. First of all, I would like to have our waiter from Ruth's Chris, ""Rafael,"" at every dinner I have for the rest of the my life! His service was not only personal, but patient and welcoming, too. Our martinis were perfect and LARGE, not the stingy, small, demi-martinis that you get in wimpy cocktail lounges. And the caesar salad was very good while the fillet was excellent. The fillet was not the most perfect fillet that I've ever had in my life, but it was far above average in taste and texture. The side dishes were good, but not outstandingly flavorful. But because the service was so over the top, it didn't matter. The one major issue was the fresh-frozen lobster tail. Unfortunately, the first one was chewy. The kitchen remade the order with a new tail and brought a nice one out that was unfortunately, also a bit chewy. The kitchen manager came out and talked to us about our reaction to the lobster, and he was completely understanding about our opinion. Although the dinner wasn't 100% perfect, the exemplary service offered by Raphael and the rest of the crew handily won us over. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ruth's Chris of Beverly Hills, and I look forward to going back. Pros: Some of the best table service I've ever had, excellent timing, no rush, very enjoyable Cons: Really can't think of any worth mentioning, except that the lobster was not exceptional more

Not what we expected 8/30/2008

My husband and I made a rerservation for dinner at Ruth's Chris. We were called this morning to confirm, we said we would be there. When we arrived for our 7:15 p.m. seating we were told that they had no record of our name but they could seat us. The hostess first offered the 1st booth closest to the front door, I asked if they had anything else. She said they had one small table in the private dining area. We sat back there and might as well have been seated on the tarmac at L.A.X. Thank goodness our waiter was good. My ears are still ringing from the sound decible level in that horrible room.\r On the way out I stopped by the front desk and told them that ""Kathy"" was the person who phoned us today to confirm, the hostess said they do have a Kathy and proceeded to look our name up again, she said ""oh it says you cancelled"". The manager was standing there and just said ""oh....sorry"", very unapologetic.\r We will stick with Lawreys for future steak dinners out. We should have known better. Pros: Good waiter, attentive bus boy Cons: Front desk staff and manager more

Excellent food 7/26/2008

I have been there once and the food was absolutely amazing. It had a great ambiance, nice wine list and excellent service. I definitely plan to go there again. more

The best Steak I have ever had in my life!!!!! 5/28/2008

I went to Beverly Hills Ruth's Chris on my birthday and had the time of my life. Ruth's Chris is the best steak I have ever had!!! And Im a serious steak lover so thats a major compliment coming from me. The whole experience was amazing. The server was so sweet and attentive. The drinks are great and you only need one to feel it!!! And my filet was cooked to perfection. Ruth's Chris has the best steak in LA, hands down!!! more

Great---Seafood 5/4/2008

This place is known for the steak...but I must say the Salmon was the bomb. The sides are terrific and I enjoyed my self at this restaurant. The service is great and the staff was friendly. Oh the drinks are to die for. A little costly but well worth it. more

Disappointed with the steak 3/15/2008

I went to Ruth's in Santa Barbara and the service, atmosphere and side orders were excellent and the steak I ordered was a big letdown. The mediium rare porterhouse steak I ordered looked tough from the outside and was even tougher to chew on. Even one of the people who was sitting at my table said, ""That steak looks tough."" I can get a steak just as good for about 1/3 of the price. I hope I just got the wrong impresson of Ruth's. Porterhouse Bistro in Beverly Hills is so much better. Pros: Service, side orders and atmosphere Cons: Expensive. Steak was mediocre, I expected better more

Best Restaurant experience in a long time 6/7/2007

Went to the Pasadena location for my birthday in May 2007. From the time you enter, service is promt and everyone is polite. The restaurant is dim and romantic with great high back booths lining the walls and tables in the middle. Althought every table was full, it did not feel overcrowded or loud (Mastro's is extremly loud compared to this restaurant). Our waiter was wonderful and made some great recommendations, even bringing out wine samples to accompany our meal. I ordered the Kobe filet and it was amazing. Sides are generous and you can share them between 2-3 people. Martinis are delicious. For desert, my husband ordered their banana pie and i got creme brule. We both thought we had died and gone to heaven. Best steakhouse i've been to. Food is comparable to Mastro's, however, the atmosphere and experience is a thousand times better. Will go back again and again. Pros: Amazing steak, great service, ample street parking more

Just awesome! 4/9/2007

I have been to Ruth's Chris Steak House on a few of occasions, and loved it every single time. I just love how the steaks come out sizzling on a hot plate. The steaks are very juicy and makes my mouth water everytime I think about it. This is how steaks should be done. I think that the price is fair for the quality that you are getting. The atmosphere is just wonderful and service is phenomenal. I would definitely recommend this if you are a steak lover. It is also a great date spot and for special occasions. Just make reservations before you go, otherwise you can end up waiting for a while on very busy days. Pros: Great Steaks, good service, awesome atmosphere Cons: Little on the pricey side, but well worth it more

Still, the best steak in LA 12/24/2006

I've eaten at most of the LA steakhouses, from Petrelli's to Mastro's and Taylor's to Morton's. I still think Ruth's Chris makes the best steak. I always order the Fillet Mignon, wherever I go. I suppose you could argue that everything tastes better when served in sizzling butter, but it's still the best! They could use a broader selection of side dishes, as you only get a piece of meat on a (very hot) empty plate. The service is very good, and the steaks are all cooked exactly to your liking. This restaurant is very well run. Pros: LA's BEST steaks more

Great Food & Terrific Service 11/20/2006

My co-workers and I had dinner there yesterday night after work. We had I reservation at 7pm. We were promptly sitted and asked for our drink orders. For appetiziers we ordered the calamari, mushrooms stuffed with crabment and cesar salad, all were VERY excellent. For Dinner I had the petit filet with shrimp very small portions of entrees but large portions of the side dishes, so if you are dinig in a group I suggest that you all order separte dishes and share. Our waiter was nice but didnt seem genuine...maybe he's an actor...lol. All & all was great Pros: Great Valet, Good Food, good service Cons: A less pricey more

Definitely overrated. 7/31/2006

I'd heard so many people rant and rave about this place so my bf and I decided to check it out one night. Both of us were disappointed. The food was just okay, the service was okay and the ambience was nothing special. The restaurant felt super stuffy...to add to the narrowness of the seating area, the tables seemed so crowded together and the incredible noise level didn't seem to help either. I won't be going back. Pros: service? Cons: food, ambience more

Same as Sizzler's 7/24/2006

I was absolutely shocked at the poor quality of this renowned restaurant, since I've been to the one in Wash. D.C. My steak was dry, overcooked. The vegetable side dishes were very bland (asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes). The only thing that was good was the bread and the appetizer, stuffed mushrooms w/crabmeat. The service was friendly, but the quality of the food was unfortunately not worth the steakhouse prices. I would go elsewhere. Pros: Service, Quick seating Cons: Steak, Food, Price more

Good Experience 6/21/2006

I visited the one in Pasadena to celebrate a friend's birthday and was very pleased with the service. We were seated within minutes of our arrival and the waiter took the time to explain the menu and to make a my first visit unforgettable. The side dishes were very tasty and the steak was tender and juicy. I did not care for all the butter served with it, but the tenderness and flavor, made up for it. We ordered the Porterhouse for two, which is great to share with a significant other, and sides are served family style as well. It was a little pricey, but the atmosphere was warm, cozy, and romantic. I will be back! Pros: Great service, wonderful ambience Cons: A la carte sides, expensive more

Yum!! 6/4/2006

Went here last month and I can say with conviction this was the best steak I've ever had! I'm a big steak eater so this is saying a lot. I had the filet mignon, medium rare, and it was tender enough where i can almost cut through the meat with my fork! Highly recommended for steak lovers! Pros: steak, atmosphere, service Cons: price, potatoes more

A terrible experience 5/1/2006

My experience eating there was terrible! The server was nasty and rude. Not one of our steaks was cooked right and the place was really loud. There is not one reason I would ever go back there. Cons: Terrible Service, Food wasn't good, Expensive more

great food, but bad service 4/29/2006

I don't eat red meat, but my boyfriend loves steak so I took him here on his birthday. He said afterwards that it was the best filet he's ever had. My ahi tuna steak was great as well, as were our sides/apps (caesar salad, BBQ shrimp, mashed potatoes) and my delicious apple cucumber martini. My only complaint was that our server was incredibly slow and inattentive. For that kind of money, I expect to be treated better. Pros: food, drinks, comfy booths Cons: bad service, loud more
