Best

Big and perfect steaks. That says it all. And the other items on the menu are great also.

Worst

Dumping a ton of butter on a steak, does not make it good. :( nor does the burning sensation as the grease/butter pops onto you when they serve it at the table.

I still think it is the best steak in town 2/4/2006

I agree that the atmosphere of the restaurant was horrible.....it's noisy and crowded.......and the service was not very well either.......however, I have to admit that they have the best steak in town. I am looking forword for the Pasadena location and hopefully the atmosphere there will be better than the one in BH. Pros: great steak, great dessert Cons: expensive, parking, noisy more

Dependable excellence 11/24/2005

You can't say anything bad about this old stand-by, which always delivers succulent steaks and a solid, low-key atmosphere. It's not as overwhelming as Lawry's, but I think it's a decent option -- particularly given the variety in selection of steaks. Advice to live (or die) by: Put butter on everything, and the flavor will jump up several levels. more

I guess it doesn't take much to make people happy 10/25/2005

A very overrated restaurant. I went 1 time - that was enough after all the hype The only thing right about the steak - it was medium rare. Other than that only fair flavor, excessive fat and a little tough. The spinich - not that good. The potatoe was ok The wine - excessively over priced, it was marked up 5 fimes from retail. Not an experience I will repeat. more

Go only for the food. 10/15/2005

I had high expectations when taking my husband for his birthday to Ruth Chris - food was excellent, service was terribel. You can never reserve online on their website for this location; Did not get a very warm welcome when arriving; This location is VERY SMALL, in a shape of a rectangle - and a short and narrow one. Booths are along one side of the wall, and the other wall consists of the bar and past that 4 tables for 2. You can only walk in a straight line and back; YOU HAVE TO ASK FOR A BOOTH; SERVICE is where they lacked. Our waitress was friendly to us initially when we were seated, but after that, she failed to stop by to finish getting our order. SHE WAS HOWEVER VERY FRIENDLY TO EVERYONE ELSE AROUND US EXCEPT FOR US. I sensed that she was not very 'minority' friendly. Pros: Excellent food Cons: Service is lacking more

Birthday wasted 9/30/2005

In a word, disappointing. I had high hopes from all the reviews and chose Ruth's Chris in Beverly Hills to celebrate my birthday. The receptionist made fun of my last name in front of me. They seated the four of us in a small table for two where we didn't have enough room for all the food we ordered. The appetisers (seared tuna and oysters rockerfeller) were warm like it had been prepared long time ago, but took a long time to arrive. $78 porterhouse for two was great, but the $40 T-bone was over cooked and tasted like Sizzler steak. They forgot to bring our salad but charged us for it anyways. Without drinks, tip, or dessert the bill for 4 people was over $200. Not what I hoped for, but what I expected to pay. Not a good value. Pros: Good Porterhouse Cons: Bad Service, Overcooked Meat, Lukewarm appetisers more

Exceptional Food...Even Better Ambiance 9/20/2005

I have been to several Ruth Chris' before, but I would have to say the Beverly Hills one is the best. The steaks are perfect, as would be expected from a Ruth Chris', however, the ambiance is unforgettable. If the prefect date night is what you are looking for, this would be a recommendation. The low lighting sets a very intimate atmosphere, and the phenomenal cuts of meat with tasty side dishes such as creamed spinach just round out a great experience. more

A finely tuned machine...every time 8/15/2005

I pulled up to the best Valet in Beverly Hills. Ron and his boys will take care of you. I was seated right away by my girl Tammie, and Rainy was a delight as always. I had two managers checking up on me...the steak was out of this world...and it's always this good. Do yourself a favor, do it right. New Orleans knows what the're doing, and the Beverly Hills RC brings it to us. Thanks. Pros: Valet, Service, Food more

The first time was the best 7/18/2005

I have eaten there two times. My first time was my favorite. One of my friends is a manager there & we got to talk to him. I had a salad & steak. It was a little over done but still it was wonderful. It is romantic and the 2nd time I went - it was with another couple. They liked it too! Pros: Nice staff Cons: Expensive more

Best Place In And Out Of Town! 6/26/2005

I've dined at Ruth's Chris from Maui to Palm Springs. It doesn't matter where you dine in this chain of wonderful restaurants...everything is superb! You can't find a place to top it. I highly recommend people of taste and style to eat in any one of their restaurants. I'll always go back when I'm traveling or just in Beverly Hills. Thanks for a wonderful dining pleasure. Pros: Table Cloths, ambiance, wait staff more

Greatest Steaks Ever...even better SIDES. 6/5/2005

A little pricy, but the best place for that SPECIAL night out....Super service...greatest food...I will return. more

Where's the Beef? 5/15/2005

I have never actually tasted the filet at Ruth Chris because the cover the meat with so much butter it is disgusting but some people love it. more

Very good 3/11/2005

I like steakhouses. Often calm, quite, sombre, reliable, with good staff and dependable menus offering well known items that will not dissapoint. This is it. Nice. Well done. Run of the mill up-scale steakhouse that doesn't surprise or dissapoint. Not the cheapest place but gets you what you want. Not your first choice but give it a try. Ask to be seated in one of the booth's - really nice there. Pros: Nice booths more

Just Beautiful!!!! 2/20/2005

My husband and I went here on Friday to celebrate Valentines Day. There was a waiting list and people were waiting, but of course we had reservations so we were quickly seated. Our hostess Tammy was cute and bubbly, and our waitress Amy was wonderful. We ordered 4 appetizers- crabtini,(which was my least favorite,)barbecued shrimp, stuffed mushrooms, and crab cakes which were all are to die for!!! I ordered the cowboy ribeye and he ordered the porterhouse for two. Both steaks were buttery and delicious, perfect and SUPER TENDER.WE had enough leftovers for the whole weekend. After adding drinks & salads the bill was $266,but you get what you pay for. I cant wait to go back!!! Pros: dim lights, great steaks, very romantic Cons: so-so side orders, expensive more

OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2/15/2005

You well never ever have a steak like this. I have been to plenty steak houses and this one beats them all by far. Steaks so tender you do NOT need a knife. It literally melts in your mouth. The service is great and best a romantic evening with a love one. more

Now that's a steak... 6/27/2004

Whoa! I would have never thought that one steak could distinguish itself from the rest by such a wide margin. Its impossible to describe, other than fantastic. To put it in perspective of how tender the beef was....my business partner and I cut our steaks for fun with the dull side of the knife. Service is what you'd expect from such a pricy restaurant so I won't complement too much in that department (for $140+...you'd better get great service). Only downer was the the sides were ""ok""...but by no means lowered the quality of the dining experience Pros: great food, service Cons: , snobbish clientle more

Not even Lawry's compares! 6/13/2004

By far the stakes we had at Ruth's over the weekend were the best. I've had steaks from San Diego to the Bay and nothing compares. Not to mention what great service! I will definitely go again! Pros: Steak, Steak, Steak more

Best Damn Restaurant 5/27/2004

Ruth's Chris is by far my favorite Steakhouse in Los Angeles. Service is always outstanding, very attentive and friendly. There are some restaurants that would qualify for the having great steakhouses but their atmosphere gives a more formal vibe. I especially love that I can be in other major city and find the consistency in quality and service. Ruth's Chris by far is the best! Pros: Excellent Food, Great Service, Great wine options more

Amazingly delicious!! 4/9/2004

I reccomend Porterhouse for Two to share with your date. Not only is it huge, every bite you take literally melts in your mouth. Before you end your night, get their sour cream cheesecake for dessert. It's lovely. Our server was awsome, he was very helpful and attentive about our needs. Highly recommend!! If you want superb food and quality service, the price you pay is totally worth it. Pros: food, service more

Steak at Its Best 4/3/2004

Go for the steaks and the deserts. Yes, one dish may set you back half C. Once the meat is brought to you, that is when you know every penny was well spent. Service is great; the managers really know how to treat their customers. Only if they can train the waiting staff better. I have a thing about swinging pony tails around my food. Also, please relocate the AC duct that breath down directly on the steak and the back of customer's neck. Pros: steak, desert Cons: , under trained staff more

Tacky 3/23/2004

Ruth's Chris Steak Houses are usually fine places to eat. Previously I enjoyed dining at one in Texas(Dallas near Love Field) that was excellent. However, dining at the one in Beverly Hills provided a disageeably memorable experience and quite a contrast. The steaks were fine but the side dishes were overdone, ordinary, and comparable to mediocre fast food. Service was barely passable and the ambiance consisted of noise, intrusive servers-well...you get the picture! Pros: Good steaks Cons: , Expensive, Noisey more
