Best

the title says it all... the brisket sandwich is a steal (the bread doesnt sandwich the meat so much as serve as a platform for it), and the cornbread is awesome. don't worry yo...

Worst

If you can get past the ambience of a garage sale. You have some of the best BBQ in the area. Go for the Take-Out and dont forget the Red Beans and Rice, worth the trip alone.

What a Major Disappointment 12/13/2007

WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY! Upon arrival the staff seemed preoccupied with their telephone social life then helping us. We ordered ribs and were promptly told ""We're out"". How can you be out of ribs at 4:30 on a Friday? Tried the brisket and pork instead. The pork had more fat than meat and was extremely greasy. The brisket tasted like it had sat around for several days over done and dry. I've hadshoe leather that was more tender than this ""meat"". Went up to complain and again was rebuffed by the help if you can call it that. Asked for water to wash down this huge mistake called barbeque. The water had a taste of chlorine in it. Never will venture here again what a huge mistake Pros: absolutely nothing but the hype Cons: Lazy service, really bad food and over priced more

I agree with the other reviewers - horrible! 10/20/2007

We have tried them three times. It always smells so good driving past, but the food is horrible. It's like the regulars on the westside don't have a clue what good BBQ should be. Three out of three times the food was dry, burnt, or just plain inedible. The person who said it was like jerky was lucky. Ours was so crispy that you couldn't bite into it. It looked good because they drowned it in bbq sauce. The ambience was horrible, the food has never been good, and the people working there look straight out of a halfway house. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else, like Tennessee Reds, if you want BBQ. Pros: Smells good on the street Cons: Always burnt, bad customer service, VERY expensive for what you get. more

Smell is great but it goes down hill after that... 9/12/2007

Like many I have gone past Reo's for years and the smell of the smoke on TV Hwy made you think that there was some good BBQ. But this is not the case. \r \r About three years ago I tried it for the 1st time. I was bad, and over priced. I did not return. Thinking that any place can have a off day I gave them a chance again not to long ago and somehow it's not even half of what it was before and that's real bad. \r \r Small sizes not much meat on the bones and bad sides. \r \r Save your time and your money. Go someplace else. Pros: The smell from TV Hwy Cons: Everthing more

Beef ribs like jerky, very poor quality side dishes. 7/17/2007

My meal was about 2 months ago, but I'm new to city search. My beef ribs were way over cooked. I went with my cousin who has eaten at Reo's many times, and even he won't go back now. He says he never did like any of the sides. For $8 to $9 I could forgive the occasional bad meal, but Reo's is too expensive for that. I expect what I pay for. Pros: Plenty of parking. I hear thier ribs are really good ""sometimes."" Cons: Expensive, terrible quality food. more

Reo asked how it was but we lied... 6/3/2007

My husband and i had never been to Reo's, though we'd driven past a thousand times. We'd heard it was pricey but good so we gave it a go (had a coupon, after all). Unfortunately the pork was way too fatty, the sauce, the only one they offer, was kind of boring and the sides were awful. Way too expensive for what we got. Won't be going back. Pros: got to meet Reo Cons: everything else more

Feeling the Vibe 6/1/2007

The smell from the street is great. The Atmosphere is enjoyable with memorabilia around. The Meat wasn't spectacular but good for the price, Will go back again. more

Won't go back ever... Worst Quality I've seen anywhere in Portland area 5/19/2007

I used to love Reos Ribs about 3 yrs ago, but have moved away from Beaverton/Aloha since then. I recently went back to get a taste of what I missed about the south. I was absolutely disappointed. I ordered the Super Chopped pork sandwich and brought it back to work to eat. Well the Bread was moldy, My Sweet Iced Tea was sour(Too Old), The Meat on the Super Sized sandwich was minimal. I can't believe that the once great quality of Reo's Ribs has come to this! I will not be going back anymore(Esspecially since I now smoke my own pork and brisket). Hope Snoop Dogg doesn't eat this stuff if he ever comes to visit. Pros: Smoke from the smokers smell great. Cons: Horrible customer service, even worse food. more

Grubb BBQ & The Best Soul Food Around!!! 5/16/2007

Reo's is real southern cooking! Nothing better around! Don't believe me? Just drive by with your window down... if that doesn't grab you nothing will! more

Aloha's worst 5/15/2007

Ane that's saying something! Greasy fatty drowned in bad sauce, and theat's just the ""ribs"". Sides I've tried were also inedible. Hey thanks, Reo's, for the noxious smoke - I'll send you the bill from my oncologist. Seriously, this place should be slapped with a BIG fine for polluting. Pros: Can't think of any Cons: let me count the ways...... more

Terrible, overpriced...Seriously disappointing 3/17/2007

My wife and I went in after recently moving to the area since I am a serious Q-aholic. I got ribs and she had the brisket. It took a while to get the food, maybe 30 minutes, and once we did we had wished we would have gone to McDonalds for a McRib. Our sides were stone cold, ribs were cooked beyond all recognition and the brisket was undercooked by about 2 hours. One thing about a good BBQ joint is that they dont put any sauce on the meat you do, or if they do its called ""Wet"". This stuff was drowning in super sweet sauce. Do yourself a favor, make it yourself at home I guarantee it will turn out better than REO's Pros: Cant think of any Cons: The food more

Horrible food, bad ` 3/13/2007

When I walked in I thought that the place was authentic. It was rundown, it was a little dirty, and it had Snoop Dogg memorabilia decorating the walls. But, most importantly, it was crowded. I figured that this place had to make it's reputation on its food and that's why everyone chose to come to this cold, dingy shack on a Saturday. Well, after spending $16 on some ribs and waiting a good 45 minutes, I was thoroughly disappointed. The meat was tough, chewy and simply painful to stomach. It tasted like I was gnawing on a strip of leather. It was awful. It was overpriced. I don't know how they get customers. \r To me, it is simply a novelty. Snoop Dogg's uncle makes ribs in Beaverton in a giant smoker. File this place under the ""let's not and say we did"" category and save yourself $20 and a couple hours of frustration. They make bad food, their kitchen is a foodtruck behind the restaurant. Sure there meat is smoked, but it's probably low grade meat smoked for maybe an hour. Trust me. Pros: Funny to say that you ate ribs by Snoop's uncle Cons: The food and actual experience of eating food by Snoop's uncle more

Worst BBQ, anywhere! 2/11/2007

I have not reviewed an establishment for Citysearch before but after eating at Reo's Ribs I felt compelled to warn others from this place. The place is a dive (ok if the food is good) but the meat quality was so poor that my wife and I could barely eat any of it. Ribs were greasy, tough and so full of fat that it looked and tasted like something rejected from a rendering plant. The sides we tried (greens) were horrible. The hushpuppies were ok. Please, do not make the mistake of going to this establishment and expecting edible food -- perhaps we just went on an off night but this was the worst experiance dining out we have ever had. Yuck! more

Not that Great. 1/3/2007

I wasn't very impressed. I live close by and it smells so good. I don't like the Atmosphere. I think the Meat was Ok. The Prices are a bit High for the Quality. Thanks but No THanks. more

Bad Ribs Over priced p 12/21/2006

Paid way too much for my ribs witch were over sauced and seemed to have been cooked all day!\r setting is very poor for such a high price! Cons: over sauced over cooked high prices more

Dissapointed 11/6/2006

Well after I read all the other reviews, I stopped by REO's, and well I'm sorry to say, although some of the dishes were OK. the ribs, pork, brisket and chicken need some adjustments made. and the sauce well it just want do. Granted there are large smokers out front which I may remind folks don't smoke all the time, so that tells me after the meat is cooked it sets somewhere and is possibly reheated before it is served. Yes I am from the South, born and raised until I moved to Hillsboro 4 years ago. I have tried to convince myself and not put my man down but the bbq is average if not below and way to over priced. \r I am used to pit bbq, slowed smoked and fallen apart, where no sauce is needed to enhance the flavor except as a condiment if you like. So my expectations are high and so I guess thats why I so diisapinted. My general rule is if you can't smell it before you get to it, chances are it's not good. Same rule apllies to REO's, granted the northwest in general is not the the place I would expect to find the best BBQ but if you are going to serve it then by all means make it worth the visit. \r \r Cons: to pricey, bad bbq more

All Hail The Dirty South! 10/22/2006

I am from Jackson, Mississippi and Reo, the owner, is from Magnolia, MS. He is the uncle of Snoop Dogg and is one damn fine BBQin' man. This is hands down the first place I have found for true southern food. The hushpuppies are the way I remember them as a child, the catfish is nicely breaded with corn meal and flakey on the inside, the pulled pork and brisket are tender, the greens are spicy and cooked with ham hock and the tea is plentiful. Yeah, it's expensive, but so is MEAT people! I was full on a small sandwich plate for $7 and it came with beans AND cornbread. The sauce is classic Mississippi style, which means it extremely close to smokey, sweet, dark Memphis style. I thought Reo was personable and the place like Home Sweet Home. Most good BBQ shacks in MS aren't about atmosphere, they are about the FOOD. Plus...Mississippi is a poor state. We don't have time for atmosphere. Good food takes time so they suggest you call ahead if on a time table. Big Love to Reo and his kick a** Mississippi style southern cookin'. Pros: True Southern Cookin' Cons: True Southern Atmosphere more

""Tough"" to recommend 8/30/2006

I have been to Reo's twice and both times the meat (brisket and ribs) was tough. I am used to barbecue that is smoked so that it falls apart in your mouth instead of getting mainly stuck in your teeth. I am still on the search for killer ribs and brisket in the Portland area. So far my favorite barbecue is Russell Street (their beef ribs are really good). more

SOUTHERN Style BBQ! 7/24/2006

First...they don't claim to be Texas, Carolina, Tennessee or KC style...don't look to Reo for it. Instead, it is a Mississippi BBQ joint. Hole in the wall, friendly folk (customers and employees alike), good drink (try the sweet tea-but if you like beers with your BBQ, you'll have to take it home).\r \r \r Now for the food: We had a couple of brisket sandwich plates, a mini plate of pork spareribs and a mini plate of beef spareribs. I gotta say all of was great SOUTHERN style bbq. The meats were delicious, but I would like a bit more sauce on the brisket sandwiches or some on the side to add it myself as needed. The only downside was that the slaw came in the same to go container, and the sauce drained to the bottom. At first taste, I thought that the slaw was actually plain cabbage, but once I figured out that the sauce was on the bottom...problem solved. The cornbread was good, nothin' special but good. The beans were delicious...\r \r \r Give it a try if you are looking for SOUTHERN style bbq. Pros: Sweet Tea, Atmosphere Cons: IT's WAY out there! more

reo's is good but pricey 7/15/2006

My wife and I bought take out ribs and sides from Reo's for this first time last nite (715/06). We bought 1 slab of baby back ribs, two medium sides (1 baked beans and 1 potato salad) and 2 slices of cornbread. 1 slab of baby backs costs $30. Each medium side was $3 each for about about 1.5 cups quantity. Cornbread was $1 per square. At first I ordered a half slab wanting to be cautious. A half slab is $15 and about 6 ribs quantity. That wasn't enough for two so when we arrived we added another half slab. \r Our whole slab totaled 13 ribs, a fair quantity. Most all were very meaty, all were tender, smoky and perfectly cooked. A nice mild sauce covered them. I rate the ribs an ""A"" but I think $30 is the top of my price point. \r The side dishes are advertised as homemade and appeared to be so. The beans were mildly spiced perhaps a bit too much for me but they were cooked perfectly. The potato salad was a basic po-sal, velvety smooth and yummy. Again I think $3 per medium size side was at the top of the price point for me Cornbread was a large enough square and just fine, but again I could not go more than $1 per square.\r It seems most people order food to go. It is an unassuming place, down to earth, placing emphasis on the food. The service counter person was very friendly..\r We were stuffed and very happy with the meal at a total cost of $38. I think this price point for us is the top. \r When Tony Roma's was in town they gave a great deal on well cooked baby backs for a fair price. Some may laugh at this but Roma's did a good job on ribs. We have had ribs from Flint's in Oakland, CA (slow cooked hickory ribs and nationally regarded or used to be as a top rated rib joint) so we think we can give a fair evaluation. \r Reo's beats Buster's in Tigard so perhaps this justifies the higher price. We give Buster's a B.\r Overall we would say try Reo's, the ribs are great, sides are a B. We will go back and try other offerings. Pros: good quality overall Cons: a bit pricey more

Char-b-que Anyone? 6/25/2006

With so many great reviews and being avid carnivores, we just had to try this place. It COULD have been that we got yesterday's meat, but the ribs (beef and pork) were like tasteless jerky. Not only were they dry and chewy, but extrememly charred. The brisket was slightly better, but still very dry. We've had better sauce from the market and the beans tasted like they'd been marinated in old water -- we've had better coming from a can. The only positive was the sweet potato pie, which I don't know if was made directly by them. Our backyard BBQ has cooked up better results. more
