Best

You are wonderful and I will recommend you to anyone looking for that perfect dress.

Worst

We went to Pearl's Place on a Saturday, so I was prepared for chaos. It's nearly impossible to find a dress in there. Luckily, I had 3 people helping me search for what I wanted. ...

Buyer Beware, horrible experience! 3/9/2007

My experience with Pearl's Place started out as a positive one but has ended on a very sour note. The bride of the wedding I was in ordered four Alfred Angelo dresses. ALL four dress were too small. When I received mine I quickly reordered the right size on a rush despite the no return policy. Later that week we all realized that ALL the dresses were drastically too small. Upon calling, Pearl's Place worked with Alfred Angelo and agreed to accept back the dresses and replace them for ones of correct size on a rush, charging shipping and a $30 restocking fee. Great, well because I'd already placed my ordered Pearl's Place (worked with Courtney Schulman who claimed to be the owner) REFUSED to accept my dress back and credit my account to let me in on the offer. She claimed it was Alfred Angelo. I called Alfred Angelo and they said its the dress shop's policy. Calling Ms. Schulman again she refused to help me basically claiming red tape that she was unwilling to bend. To sum, buyer BEWARE!!! The dresses are a good price for a reason, you get what you pay for. They price gouge individuals like myself and point their finger elsewhere just to make a quick buck. In my opinion this looks poorly on Pearl's Place AND Alfred Angelo. I will choose not to do buisness with either enity and recommend the same. Pros: good prices Cons: lack of willingness to work with customers in extenuating circumstances more

Best Selection, Best prices, one on one service 3/6/2007

I'm really surprised to here bad reviews about Pearl's Place. I'm getting married in Sept., and I have 3 sisters and 2 best friends that have used Pearls. They have the most selection, by far; and they really work with you on the price. I got $400 off of my dress and $40 off my girls dresses plus Free Alterations! No other price quotes could compare. My consultant really helped me. She picked dresses out and put them on me. She talked to me about my needs and worked with me for 2 hrs on 2 separate occasions and the store was packed. The only problem that any of the people I know had was one bridesmaid in my wedding party, but honestly I think it was her fault. She can be rude and she didn't follow any of the guidlines that I gave her. In my opinion, people that have problems with Pearls Place probably go on a Sat or a day that is extremely busy and expect the world as soon as they walk in the door. It's a big, busy place. You have to be smart about it and follow the guidlines that they give you on there handout. If you do that, I guarantee you'll find something amazing for a really good price! DON'T GO ON A SATURDAY!!! Good luck girls! more

bad bad bad bad!! 2/26/2007

please take the advice, i didn't and seriously regret it. although there is a good selection, the service and staff are absolutely horrible. more

Don't waste your time or your money!!! HORRIBLE!! 2/13/2007

First off, I called the store to see if they had a certain dress in stock and the lady sounded like she just woke up and was extremely rude to me. She kept saying ""Yea I think we have that dress"" she wouldn't even check the computer to confirm if they had it or not. I waited a couple of days before I called again to see if I got someone else on the phone. This time a guy answered. He wasn't quite as rude, but at least he confirmed to me that they had the dress that I was looking for in two different fabrics. I was excited so I made the hour and a half trip over there only to be treated like dog sh$t by these people. No one greeted me at the door and no one asked if I needed any help. I basically had to figure out by myself that I had to sign in to be waited on. I WAITED FOR TWO HOURS TO BE HELPED!!!!! The only reason why I stayed so long was because they confirmed on two different occasions that they had the dress that I was looking for and they had two of them in stock. After finally getting a bridal consultant, she tells me that they don't have my dress there. She kept making up stupid excuses like ""oh well it must be a computer glitch"" or ""it must be misplaced in the store because a customer must have put it in the wrong place"" Which is so not true because they don't allow the customers to even pull dresses from the wracks because they do that. They could have cared less if I drove 20 hours to get there, and I was dying of cancer. They just want your money, and they aren't going to even try to be nice to you to get your service. 7 other girls left the store because they were rude and took to long to wait on people. Save your time and energy, don't go to this hell hole. I have worked in the bridal business, and this just isn't the way to conduct a business properly. Too bad for them because they just lost out on about 5 grand from me. more

The best store we have in New Orleans for bridal. 1/26/2007

I feel that Pearl?s Place is the most professional, and competent bridal store in our entire city and state. I did my wedding, my sister?s wedding and assisted in friend?s weddings and we were pleased with the professionalism, service and the delivery times of Pearl?s Place. In every instance the dresses arrived early, way earlier than anticipated. I have had experience with a number of other bridal stores and in all of those cases gowns arrived late, very late. Pearl?s Place is the best bridal store we have and I cannot agree with any of the negative postings. Just that on some days they are very crowded, that I will agree with, but you cannot fault the store for that. The crowds say something positive in my opinion. Pros: Selection, service, prices Cons: Just that the store is busy at times and that cannot be their fault more

HORRIBLE SERVICE...WORST IN THE WORLD! 1/15/2007

I am standing in my friend's wedding and ordered my bridesmaid dress over the phone in September. I live out of state and had to pay for shipping to have the dress sent to me. All the dresses came in in December, and I waited for mine to come in the mail. After waiting for weeks (it is now mid-Jan), I called to see where my dress was. I spoke with the owner's son, Jordan Schulman, who rudely told me that I never said I wanted it shipped and I didn't pay for it. I got upset and told him I DID INDEED PAY FOR IT and I needed the dress sent to me now so I could get the alterations done. He told me it would be shipped on that day (Monday). Two days later, I noticed a charge on my bank account where he ran my card without notifying me for ANOTHER SHIPPING CHARGE! I called and told him he didn't have permission to run my card. He got very rude with me and told me GOOD LUCK GETTING YOUR MONEY BACK. Then he called me names and kept hanging up on me every time I'd call back. Pros: RUDE RUDE RUDE, PUT CHARGES ON MY BANK ACCOUNT WITHOUT PERMISSION Cons: DAVID'S BRIDAL LOOKS GOOD COMPARED TO THEM more

RUDE AND DISORGANIZED 10/10/2006

This was the worst retail environment that I have ever been in. You will find no southern hospitality or class at this place. I visited Pearl's Place with all of my bridesmaids and my flower girl in tow to pick out dresses and to order them for all of my attendants (all of us were from out of town). I had already purchased my wedding dress (not from Pearl's Place b/c I found it about $400 cheaper elsewhere). The first question that I was asked at Pearl's was whether or not I had purchased my dress with them. When I answered ""no,"" they basically refused to help us the rest of the morning. I had planned to order six attendant dresses from them, and they would not give us any information as to fabric choices, color swatches. They acted as if we were the least important people in the store. The dresses that I have chosen for my attendants are worth more than my wedding dress was, and Pearl's Place has now lost my business for both. I will forever warn brides and bridesmaid against Pearl's. They may be well established in New Orleans, but that can only be because they have little competition. I hope that someone finally wisens up and opens a real bridal shop to put them out of business!!!!!! more

PLEASE CONSIDER THIS A WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 9/6/2006

I would not recommend Pearl's Place to my worst enemy. The owner, Elaine, is very rude. As long as everything goes smooth she will be very nice to you but the minute the smallest error occurs she will let her true colors show. I have dealt with Pearls Place on 3 seperate events. The first was for my wedding in 2002. I tried to warn my sister's friend but she did not listen and boy did she regret it. The third time was for my brother's wedding. I again tried to warn his fiance and again my warnings went ignored. She regrets it to this very day as well. I would have thought that given the situation with Katrina and all that Ms. Elaine would be a little more understanding. NOT!!!!!!!!!! I really think that she needs to go to a customer service workshop. The prices and selections are alright but when the customer service is below average all alse does not not matter. I will never deal with Pearl's Place again on any level and if I am asked to be in a wedding and the dresses are coming from Pearl's Place I will politely decline the offer. Pros: selection, and prices Cons: customer service given by the owner more

Never Again-Ever! 6/8/2006

I had tried on this dress in the store to make sure that it fit right and then placed my order with Pearl's Place because they had better prices. The dress came and it was NO WHERE NEAR THE RIGHT SIZE! I called my fellow bridesmaids and found out from one of them that her dress, also from Pearl's Place, was 4"" too small all over! I called and was told to send the dress back for investigation. A few days later, I received a call and they asked for my measurements. When I gave them to the woman, she said that she couldn't help me and that it was my fault for ordering the wrong size. I explained that I tried it on and that it fit and she repeatedly stated that I was wrong and that what I was saying was impossible. I reiterated that this was in fact what happened and she claimed that they always ask for measurements. I explained that this is not what happened when I placed my order and she flat out refused to help me. I asked what my options were and she said I could buy ANOTHER dress or pay $30/yard for more material and then she hung up on me. more

NEVER SHOP HERE!! BUYERS BEWARE 5/11/2006

my 5 bridesmaids went to pearl's to get there dresses and ALL of them were measured to small and when it came time to do alterations they wanted $50/yard for extra fabric to add to their dresses. i spoke to the owner she was nothing but rude well i would love to see how a woman could gain exactly 2 inches in each measurement. when i told her her girl pulled the tape too tight she told me her girls dont make mistakes. so now instead of $200 dresses they now cost $400 They have lost all of my bridesmaids as clients and everyone that i've told. a friend of the family was told to stop calling there they would call her when the dress is in. they told her this the monday before her wedding on Saturday! Cons: crowded , rude, measurments more

good place to go to 4/2/2006

I purchased my dress here. Mrs. Pearl herself picked the attendant who would help me and the lady that helped me happened to be my body shape. it turned out that all the dresses i picked out weren't the ones, and the very first dress she picked out for me (which was an EXTRA plus because she made me feel very comftorable) was perfect!! i told her my budget and she worked with me on what i was looking for. she was extremely knowledgable. I tried one dress on and then one after it and made me choose between the two. She then asked me to tell her what i liked and didn't like in the last dress that i tried on (which was very smart because she really knew what i wanted). I only tried on 5 before finding the right one. I was very pleased. Plus, free alterations! Pros: knowledgeable staff, slightly inexpensive, easy to be done with Cons: crowded, other clientele, the wait (4 hours!) more

User review by bogiek 3/3/2006

I have nothing but good things to say about this shop. When I first visited the shop to look for a bridal gown the woman who assisted me was very helpful. The dress I selected was perfect, exactly what I was looking for. On my second visit everyone was again very helpful. My wedding date was in October, so like most of the city my fiance and I had evacuated. We decided to go ahead and have our wedding in the Midwest, where we had evacuated to. Pearl's Place was kind enough to ship my dress to me. This went above and beyond what was required of them, during a time that they were taking stock of their own situation they took the time to rush my dress to me. Thanks in part to them I had a beautiful evacuee wedding! Pros: Staff, Selection more

Great price on my wedding gown 11/28/2005

After finding the gown I wanted, I needed to find the price I could afford. I found out about Pearl's Place. I placed an over the phone order, got a price that was hundreds less, and received my dress quickly. Thanks for a great wedding experience. more

Worst Possible Experience. BEWARE!! 10/14/2005

I know a lot of brides, myself included, you have had their wonderful wedding planning experience marred by the atrocious service at this salon. They are notorious for adding extra ""rush"" charges throughout the sales process. They frequently lose dresses, order the wrong colors and sizes and then refuse to exchange or return. The entire staff, owners included and specifically, are terrible to brides and bridesmaids, calling names and engaging in shouting matches in the store. It's just not worth it to shop there. Cons: rude staff, no returns, disorganized more

RUDE staff 9/6/2004

I have heard nothing but horror stories of this place since high school! Now I'm in a friends wedding who chose to get all the dresses here. Whenever I call, the line is always busy and staff is sooo rude. They have messed up my dress order about 4 times now and i still have yet to recieve it!! Please consider other stores before coming here!! more
