Rude employees 7/31/2008

My sister-in-law chose her bridesmaids dresses here and when I went in for my fitting the employee I dealt with was incredibly rude to me and extremely impatient. She was just shouting directions at me and when i didn't understand she started physically ""placing"" me where she needed me to be. Just a bad experience all round. Pros: Lots of selection Cons: Rude and prices aren't that great more

Horrible and unorganized 7/11/2008

I ordered my bridesmaids dresses from there. The order was placed in March and the girls were told their dresses would be in by May. My wedding was planned for Aug 1st. Luckily my fiance and I pushed our wedding date back because when I called July 9th, 2008 to see if their dresses were in they said they couldn't find them and would have to look and call me back. They didn't call until the next day and said that they hadn't even ordered the dresses. Had my fiance and I not pushed our date back we would have been in a HUGE bind. The lady who called me didnt seem concerned and gave no explaination as to why the dresses were not ordered. more

Crowded store with awful staff 7/7/2008

I have gone to Pearl's Place twice for my brother's wedding. The first time it was crowded, but the people were generally friendly except that when one of us was in the dressing room and the rest of us had wandered off they removed all the dresses from the door and put them back so we had to go back and look for the dresses again. Also, they do not carry many sample sizes over a size 8 or so. Overall it was a decent visit though and we left mostly in a good mood with the dresses decided on and the bridal gown ordered. The second visit was the one that absolutely made me never want to go back there. When we got there, the bride hadn't arrived yet so they told us not to sign in, twenty minutes later someone came up to us and asked if we had signed in, when we said no, we were treated like misbehaving children for not following ""procedues"". Then after the bride arrived, she had to ask for her dress five times and then waited nearly forty-five minutes for them to pull her dress so she could try it on for everyone. When it finally came time for the bridesmaids to get fitted we got comments about how big we were and how plus sizes were going to cost us extra. My cousin tried on the sample dress and it was loose on her, they fitted her two sizes bigger than the sample. When my turn came they charged me over $200 extra for 2 yards extra fabric and alterations, even though alterations are supposedly free if you buy the whole party in the store. When I asked why, the woman proceded to berate me in front of the entire store telling me that they would have to completely remake the dress to fit me because my... and I quote ""a$$ will not fit in one of their dresses"" They reduced me to tears in front of my family and the store. Later I found out I was one inch over the size they measured me for (which was a 28) with my jeans and a sweatshirt on. I went to David's later and fit a size 20 of the same dress. This store WILL RIP YOU OFF any way they can. more

Rude and unorganized 7/1/2008

We went to Pearl's Place on a Saturday, so I was prepared for chaos. It's nearly impossible to find a dress in there. Luckily, I had 3 people helping me search for what I wanted. The dress I found was an incredible price and it fit nearly perfectly. The saleswoman, Miss Ruth, was gentle and kind and very nice and funny. We found bridesmaid dresses on the same day and everything seemed perfect. A week later they called to say that they ""couldn't remember"" what color I wanted for my bridal gown. Another week passed and they called say they ""couldn't remember"" what bridesmaid dress I ordered. I live 50 miles away and had to send my maid of honor there in a panic. When my dress came in I went to pick it up and no one seemed willing to help. They were rude and left me alone to try and tie up a corset all up the back! They yelled at me to turn this way and that and spoke to me as if I am a complete idiot. They snapped at me when I asked about alterations. I will NOT go there for the alterations as I have heard HORROR stories. I would rather pay for them elsewhere since I saved so much on the gown price. The only highlight was working with Miss Ruth on the first day. The rest of it was ridiculous. The girl who called to tell me the bridesmaid dresses were in was RUDE. And it should be their responsibility to call the BRIDESMAIDS to let them know. Why take their info otherwise? I have a million things going on. call them yourselves!!!! more

ugh 6/17/2008

i went into pearl's this weekend, and i was so disappointed. it was caos! after signing in and standing around for 45 minutes i decided to try and look at the dresses. as i came around to another tiny area of the store an older lady who worked here, looked atme with complete disquised and asked if i had been helped! i was so mad i couldnt see. we left and went to the place a block down and i was soooo much better! they were actually nice to me. and thats where i found my dress too. Cons: lots of people and rude workers more

pearl's place, not a good choice 5/26/2008

I've always heard Pearl's Place isnt the place to go if you want the day you get a wedding dress to be a happy 1,I shouldve listened. The seamstress is just awful & rude. She made me want to take my dress elsewhere bc I felt like I was a pain in her butt. She told off a coworker in front of a customer while I looked at garters & made snood remarks to the customer themself!Unprofessional & cocky. My girls dresses were uneven & she told me ""no one looks at them anyway!""In my pictures? The necklines were off!She even said she didn't have to fix my dress. The zipper was stuck halfway down my back!I'm sorry,I thought that was your job! There were 2 nice people there. The 1 who sold me my dress, even though she said ""lose ur a** before the wedding so the dress fits"" & the 1 at the desk. She smiled for 1!Admitted she was new when she asked a question so she didnt overcharge me & apologized for the seamstress, saying it was just a bad day, making excuses that sounded very rehearsed-""she really has a hard job."" 2 minutes later the seamstress threw that lady a cocky comment talking down to her & basically talking bad about a customer right in front of her face.I think it could've been said in private, not in front of a customer who looked awfully uncomfortable after. If your job is such a miserable imposition, quit! Pearl's Place has lovely gowns, but terrible employees, so to Ms. Pearl, you need to seriously evaluate your employees and ditch the rude ones who do lousy work anyway, and please remind your workers that no matter how many hours a bride spends in there, it isn't long enough to get so comfy as to begin taking shots at their body. We aren't friends, we make your paycheck. Wouldn't you like to hear something nice about your store? I'm not asking for caviar and champagne when I walk in the door but how about employees who don't have an attitude.BEWARE OF PEARL'S PLACE.....THEIR EMPLOYEES WILL TEAR YOU A NEW ONE IN YOUR FAT A** AND THE SEAMSTRESS COULDN'T FIX IT RIGHT IF SHE TRIED Pros: large, lovely selection Cons: terrible, rude, unprofessional employees more

Horrible experience!!! 4/20/2008

Pearl's place was my first stop on my agenda for my wedding dress shopping day. I was extremely excited. As soon as I walked into the store it was chaos, but I was expecting that on a Saturday. When I finally got assigned an associate, my horrible experience began. I was not impressed with the dresses I tryed on, I really didn't like any of them except one. Almost none of them even fit me to where I could zip them a little and come out of the room, and I'm a size 10....I thought that was ridiculous. The dress that was my favorite there, another girl shopping said that maybe I should try putting a sash around the waist to break up the material ( it was all lace) the associate made a face about the idea and even went on to say that I was receiving too many opinions, well anyway she went get the sash and put it on... if I were to get that dress I would get it only with the sash, it really made the dress. The lady was really just very rude. I will never shop there again! Pros: Plenty of cute bridesmaid selections Cons: poor service, too cluttered more

Take your dress elseware for alterations. 2/26/2008

I highly recommend using Pearl's to buy a dress for your wedding. However, plan on having someone else perform alterations. Not only are they incompetent, they may not even try. Pros: Best selection in Metairie - Go to Baton Rouge if you have time. Cons: They are incompetent with alterations. They make up excuses as to why their work is shabby. more

Helpful advice, excellent price, early delivery! 2/12/2008

I had a great experience buying my wedding gown from Pearl's Place. I live in New York, but after visiting several local dress shops - which I could not afford - I emailed a picture of my favorite dresses to Pearl's Place. They found very similar dress styles at much lower prices. To order, they sent me a size chart, so I got measured at a local tailor then I was able to order and pay over the phone. All very smooth so far - but the amazing thing is that my dress came in more than a month early! It was so reassuring to know I had plenty of time to get alterations finished. I'm very sorry to read of the negative experiences people have had, but I have to reiterate that I had a problem-free transaction! more

Awesome bridal consultant 2/4/2008

I went everywhere looking for a dress and absolutely hated the process. Many of the salesgirls made me feel uncofortable and really didn't understand what I was looking for. I had found a dress at another store that I loved and I went to Pearl's Place to make sure that was the dress for me. I tried on a couple of dresses and the consultant told me that she knew the dress I had already loved was the dress for me. She found the dress in a catalog and gave me a price that was hundreds of dollars less than the cost of the store I originally found it. She totally understood my personality and style after only being in the store for a couple of minutes. She recommended that I pay for cash and carry and have my alterations done somewhere closer to where I lived to save money!!! They are not out for money and really made what had been an awful experience for me GREAT. Pros: Great service and understanding staff. Cons: Rooms were a little cluttered. more

The worst service ever 1/8/2008

I was looking for 2 dresses that I had seen in a bridal mag. I called pearls place and asked if they had these 2 dresses and if they sold dresses off the rack.(to make sure they would be there because I was going the next day) They told me that they had the dresses and that they DID NOT! sell off the rack. After making the 3 hour trip I arrived there shorty after they opened. After waiting 45min my consultant was finally there. I showed her the pics of the 2 dresses and she brought me to the section of that designer. The dresses were not there! I was told that they were sold. I decided to stay anyway because she said she could show me similar dresses. Not a single dress was even close! Then to make things even better, my consultant decided to just walk away to go eat and would come back with a mouthful of food! more

Fun and Easy 12/26/2007

I thought that getting my dress was easy. I did it in one day. I only had to pay half. Everyone was nice and helpful. My mom and my fiance's mom got there dresses at Pearl's. She already did alterations. She had to wait for 30 minutes on the weekend but they were done good. My dress is real pretty. I love it. Everyone got a discount! Pros: found dress quickly, pretty dresses, discounts Cons: mom had to wait in alteration line more

Great Experience. 12/9/2007

I have been in 12 weddings and gotten dresses from everywhere from Houma to Baton Rouge, and I went to Pearl's Place to get my wedding gown. Everyone was was real nice to me. They are the only store that has any kind of selection, and I know for a fact that the same dresses at other stores are more expensive ( I paid $40 more for the same bridesmaids dress). Alterations are free. They steamed all of our dresses for free. The only downside is that they are busy and sometimes you have to wait a couple of minutes, but they are obviously busy for a reason. It makes me sad that people are writing that they had bad experiences. Mine and my girl's experiences were pretty straight and to the point. They had the lowest price on the dresses by far (and I priced everywhere), there was no mistakes, and we got altered without paying for it. I have to give them 5 stars. This is the least stressful part of my wedding for sure. more

Pearl's Place not so ""pearly"" 12/8/2007

My experiences with Pearl's Place have definitely been not only frustrating but disgusting. I had my bridal party order their dresses through them, and they are not organized. No one that works at the place knows what they are doing. Every time I would call, someone would tell me something different. Oh and the hours are horrible. I am sorry, if you are one of only 2 bridal places in the city of New Orleans, you have to have better hours. it seems like every one of my bridesmaid had to wait at least 2 hours to get fitted. HellO!!!!!!!!!!!! that is so ridiculous. I have a solution for you. Use your money wisely and expand the business with a bigger showroom and fitting room, as well as hire employees and train them a little bit better. I think if the place was bigger, had more hours, and better employees, it would be the best salon out there! Good Luck if you go to Pearl's Place! more

Shaky start, great end! 11/15/2007

After searching for weeks for the ""perfect gown,"" I finally found it at a local store. Unfortunately, it was way above my budget. I found Pearl's Place online and called to get a price quote; I immediately ordered the gown over the phone on an impulse because the dress was $1,500 less expensive than the local boutique. Later that day, after the elation of being able to afford the perfect dress, I started feeling anxious and nervous: were they going to rip me off? I called and was told, ""Don't worry about it!,"" which did nothing to alleviate my fears. But, my fiance encouraged me to have some faith. And I did...I also had my wedding planner call the store to make sure everything was okay and to find out the expected ship date. Every time I called, I was put on hold, which was a bit annoying/frustrating...and the e-mails go to someone who isn't actually at the store (the typical response is, ""I will forward the message to the store""). POSITIVES: I received a call saying that the dress arrived 3 weeks early and I should be receiving it in 2-3 business days (the local store told me 4-6 months to get the dress from them; I received it in a little less than 3.5 months from Pearl's Place). My gown arrived in 3 days and was absolutely PERFECT! And it cost me a heck of a lot less than going to the local boutique (no other stores I visited or called, including some online sites, had the dress). NEGATIVES: I was very nervous in the beginning due to the fact that the store employees weren't very reassuring (they were polite and nice, just not very convincing and were busy with store customers and thus put me on hold a lot), the negative reviews I've seen, and what appeared to be bad communication channels (why aren't e-mails going directly to the store in the first place? also, I didn't get a tracking number for the shipment). SUMMARY: If you are willing to trust Pearl's Place, you will be rewarded with great prices and the dress of your dreams! Pros: Prices, fast delivery (for wedding gowns), selection Cons: Difficult to get details/confirmation more

IT'S PEARLZILLA'S !!! RUN FOR YOUR SANITY!!!! 7/4/2007

. . .ever heard of Bridezilla~Brides on a power trip, well here is Pearlzilla bridal sales reps on a power binge! Pros: Over crowed display floor allowed for lots of choices Cons: overly crowed display floor; parking was awful; service was rude; too expensive; had to pay for their mess up in ordering more

Do not go there!!!!!!!!!!!! 7/2/2007

Interesting expiriance which cost me more nerve than I could even imagine a week before the wedding day. Pros: price Cons: alteration service more

Evil Women 6/25/2007

This salon should be closed down. Selection was fine, prices are so GOUGED. They go as far as cutting the designer labels off of the dresses and wont tell you weho makes them. They say they cant, and arent allowed to give that information. Why? Because you can find the dresses for half the price elsewhere. The one who claims that the dress she bought got 700 knocked off must be a worker of the salon trying to get better reviews. These women are like used car salesmen, right down to arrogance. Never shop here. Leaving here I wanted to not have a wedding, then I went to a shop Uptown and found dresses of better quality and mich better prices. Dont be intimidated by high scale salons, they dont have to fight for business so they care about the clients. They also dont waste your time with dresses that you arent even looking for. Pearls Place trys to shove them on you and they dont listen to what you are telling them you are looking for. AVOID this place and you will be a much happier bride. more

Amazing 6/10/2007

They had a million dresses! My bridal consultant found me the perfect dress. I went back 3 times, and she was so patient with me. Every time I go in there the staff is constantly trying to help me. I saved $320 on my bridal gown and they aren't going to charge for alterations. I'm going to order my bridesmaids through their internet service to save my girls some money. They gave me a sizing chart and explained the whole thing to me. They told me how to save money! I love this place! more

Saved $700 on the perfect dress 6/9/2007

I'm getting married June 08 and I just found my perfect bridal gown at Pearl's Place! I had looked everywhere (Town & Country, With this Ring, Linda Lee....). I was getting so fustrated with the selection and prices everywhere. I couldn't find anything that I loved; and when I liked something, it was $5,000+. I called Pearl's Place and talked to a really sweet girl name Jessica. She assured me that they had more dresses than I could imagine and that they would work with me on the price. Boy, did they!! Ruth helped me. She was so wonderful. It was real crowded and I had to wait; but once I got assisted, it was all about me. Within 20 minutes I had the dress of my dreams! It was over my budget, so she knocked $700 of the price + FREE ALTERATIONS (which no other store did). I'm in shock! I'm so happy. I can't say enough good things about my experience. Honestly, you should check this place out for yourself. I was stunned at the dress, deal, and service I recieved!! Pros: Tons of dresses, Sweet staff, Prices negotiable Cons: Shockingly Good Experience! more
