Horrible customer service from most, 7/16/2013

Horrible customer service from most, including the manager! There is one girl who works there that is so nice that I almost, I emphasize almost, feel bad for writing this review. She is the only exception I've seen so far to what I'm about to tell you. I live in Lansing but am from the Grand Rapids area so most of my bridesmaids are from GR. So for convenience-sake they chose to get their dresses from Bridal Gallery. The first time we went in there the girl who helped my bridesmaid #1 try on the dress, she asked her if she wanted to buy it today. While my BM said yes, I said ""well...we have to think about it""as soon as I hesitated, she shot me the dirtiest look and said ""well if you need measurements and you're not buying the dress from here it's going to cost $20"" then walked away. A few minutes later I saw her talking to someone behind the front desk and they were both looking in our direction, the girl who helped us had a sour look on her face. So the girls decided they wanted to get their dresses there, and I didn't really care so they did. BM 1 ordered her dress on April 11 from Bridal Gallery, it's now July 16 and they have no idea when it's going to come in. According to the Bridal Gallery, the first time I called, the dresses are shipped from the designer as the size becomes available. BM 2 ordered her dress from the Bridal Gallery a week later than BM 1 and got hers last week... It was the same size BM 1 ordered. It was when I called to speak to the manager that I realized this. So when I asked her to confirm when BM 1 ordered her dress she confirmed the 4/11 date. When I asked her to confirm when BM 2 ordered her dress she immediately began bantering about how ""this is just the way production works"" when I asked her a second time to confirm when BM 2's dress was ordered she replied ""ma'am, I have this in a stack of orders I'm working on on my desk"" when I asked her a third time to confirm with me when BM 2's dress was ordered, she replied in a very irritated tone ""ma'am, I don't have time to get you that information"". Then I responded to her that I was extremely disappointed in the poor customer service they have and that I will not be recommending them to anyone. The entire time I was telling her that, she was raising her voice over mine saying in a very sarcastic tone ""I'm sorry you feel that way!"" Over and over. There are so many other places to spend your money, both brides and bridesmaids. Please, take the extra time and drive to Becker's bridal. I promise, you will not regret it! more

Editorial review from Citysearch 2/4/2013

Rude and inconsiderate: \r I took a couple of my bridesmaids to Bridal Gallery this past weekend. We had an appointment to look at Bridesmaids dresses, only 2 of the maids were going to try on since the others were decided (my original appointment was for 5, so 2 should have been no problem right... WRONG). We were greeted as we walked in and told to begin looking through the dresses, we did have an employee start 2 dressing rooms for us. That was the end of the good customer service we received. We sat down in the chairs that were open in the back while the 2 bridesmaids tried on about 4 dresses each. We were asked to move chairs because we were talking to each other. We were asked by 4 different employees to have the girls change in the same dressing room to open up the other. Each time I was asked I said that we were almost finished and would be out as soon as possible. The 4th time we were asked they were so ride about it. NEWSFLASH--- not every person is comfortable changing in front of each other. We only had 2 of our 5 people with us with an appointment. We never received an assistance of help when the girls had the dresses on like we did at other stores like Renee Austin Wedding and even David's Bridal was more attentive. No one tried to help us, pin the girls or even ask if we needed anything. \r We left and told them we were not happy with the service, the manager could not have cared less. I would not recommend you go here, there are many more places that will treat you better and if you are going to spend hundreds of dollars on dresses, make it fun and worth your time and excitement. This place is a buzz kill to a fun day shopping for your wedding!\r more

VERY ROOD 3/4/2012

I don't have anything nice to say about this place. We walked in and the ladies behind the counter asked us what we were looking for and pointed us in the direction of the bridesmaid dresses and said pick out what you like. They then asked us what style we were looking for. We didn't have any particular style picked out. Asked us the colors and when the wedding date was told us that it might be a problem with how close the wedding date was with the colors. So then she proceeds to show us dresses that she could get in in the time frame that we had and says the colors she can get them in totally disregarding the colors of the wedding when we asked her what about our colors she then says in a snotty attitude that's not an option. She could have started out with that instead of wasting our time. And they are WAY over priced for their horrible selection of bridesmaid dresses. We went around the corner to another little store where the service was great and we could get our dresses in the time frame we had and in the right colors and great price and even with a 20% discount on each dress. Also the parking was horrible. more

Very disrespectful and rude! 4/13/2011

I was extremely upset when I spoke with an employee at the Grand Rapids Bridal Gallery over the phone and she was extremely rude to me.\r \r All I wanted was to come try on a dress and she very rudely assumed that I was going to come try it on then go buy it online and wouldn't tell me the size of the sample dress. My friend (the bride) has not decided whether we are even getting the dress or not so when I told her that I didn't know for sure if I was going to buy it the woman became even more rude and without explanation told me to go to another store and HUNG UP on me!\r \r I called back and spoke with another person who at least sounded more pleasant and actually took the time to explain that they don't like to give out sizes over the phone because people use them for their samples and then go buy it online. \r \r After that I didn't know what to say because she still wouldn't tell me the size and I'm not going to drive all the way out there to NOT fit in the dress! How am I supposed to more

Horrible Service 2/17/2011

We went to Bridal Gallery on a Saturday looking for bridesmaid dresses and were not impressed at all. They were very busy (which is expected) but there were four employees standing behind the counter doing nothing. We were told to go pick out the dresses that we liked and someone would help us when they were available (remember the four employees??) The first thing we noticed was that all of the dresses were approximately $30 more than the exact same dress at other stores. Then we noticed their lack of selection, however there was a bride there being allowed to take over 20 dresses at one time, so that probably did not help with lack of selection. We waited for quite some time and then decided that we would be better off going to another store, so we went a took our names off of the list. The saleswoman then said that if we called back we could make an appointment for another Saturday because we had an hours drive in. A few weeks later we called to make that appointment and were very rudely told that they do not do Saturday appointments. That is fine, many places don't, but we should not have been told that we could and she definitely could have been polite about it. We were told that we could schedule an appointment for during the week, however the bride works until 5:00 everyday so that wouldn't work at all. All in all Bridal Gallery wasted our time and lost 10 sales. I will also recommend to anyone getting married that they don't even try Bridal Gallery. Also a suggestion, if you aren't going to have Saturday appointments perhaps hire so more employees who will actually do their jobs. more

Mother of the Bride 7/24/2010

Our visit to Bridal Gallery today was... very disappointing. Service was terrible. Preferential treatment was given to a select few. Sales clerks were lazy. They give you hooks to tag the dresses on the racks that you want to try on and after my daughter and her maid of honor went thru and made their picks, snippy little sales clerk (blonde ditz) unclipped her selections and brought her 5 dresses to the dressing room. She was then abandoned and when we asked for assistance was told that she would have to leave the dressing room and let someone else have a turn while the girl/mother next to us who arrived at the same time were catered to with dress after dress (even dresses that my daughter had selected). It was a Saturday afternoon. I went to the snippy clerk who had started to help us, she was behind the counter in the front counting tickets sales for the day and acted as if I was being a nuisance! We walked out. My daughter went back into the store to speak to the manager... She looked at her and said, ""You've tried on 40 dresses haven't you?"" Far from 40. After my daughter explained what happened, the woman apologized and begged her to return and said she would personally assist. My advice to you, store owner, hire some new help! Your service stinks. We will return to Becker's. They know the meaning of SERVICE. By the way, she tried on not more than 5 dresses and if she wanted to try every damn dress on display, why not! Oh, another thing... Your parking stinks! Cons: Service more

very unhappy 4/8/2010

Poor customer service, poor quality product, rude management & no ability to resolve problems. Would not recommend it. Full of excuses but without answers. If everything with your dress goes good, you are extremly lucky if you bought it from here. more

BRIDES BEWARE! 3/25/2010

They were horrible! I was given 5 ship dates before I got my dress! Got the dress 4 weeks prior to my wedding and it had issues, should have been sent back to the manufacturer, however being so close to the wedding and the fact that it took 6 months to get it in, in the first place we didn't have time to do that. The owner, and seamstress we very rude. The owner told me she had been in business for 25 years and didn't need my business, after I had asked her to help resolve the issue. She also tried to tell me what I had done, which was incorrect, and wouldn't listen to me when I tried to explain. I am not a bridezilla, actually wasn't even upset until the owner Judy hung up on me! The customer service there is ridiculous! My story ends with me taking my not so perfect dress from the store and leaving issues unresolved. I have however so happy to be done with that place. Brides Beware!\r \r Ok Judy you asked for this. First of all I ordered the dress in Oct. you did not have my dress in more

Awesome Place 7/28/2009

I got engaged in Sept but I started looking for my dress back in end of July/August. It didn't matter that I wasn't engaged yet for the ladies to let me look at the dresses. I didn't need an appointment I just went in and got service right away. The staff was amazing! They were friendly and courteous! I probably tried on 20 or so dresses and had it narrowed down to 2. Not only did I get my wedding dress there, I got all of my bridesmaid dresses there. They had a great selection to pick from and me and my girls looked awesome for the wedding. I would recommend this place to anyone! Pros: Great selection/wonderful people more

WONDERFUL PLACE!!!! 5/1/2009

Great Store! Great Selection! Great People working there!! I couldn't have been more pleased with this store! you simply MUST check this store out! One of the ladies who were helping me picked out a dress that I didn't pick out at first and it was the best one! I would say that this was better than any other place I shopped in in GR! Pros: very helpful/friendly staff Cons: nothing more

Nightmare 5/5/2008

Horrible Nightmare Experience! Beware! I am not even the bride, I am the matron of honor. I was skeptical of Bridal Gallery from the beginning since it looks like such a dump, both inside and out and in this case first impressions hold true. My best friend whom is the bride went to Bridal Gallery because of the prices. I guess you get what you pay for. The staff was extremely rude and didn't know what they were talking about. They measured the bride incorrectly and ordered her a dress a size too small. When the bride argued with them that she has never worn that size they said that it would fit and went ahead and ordered it for her anyway. When the dress came in and we went to try it on we couldn't even get it buttoned, it was so tight. The salesgirl was very annoyed and came in the dressing room and pulled the dress together at the back as tight as she could and then barely fastened the button. Then she said, "See I told you it would fit". The bride then decided to have al more

Try to avoid Saturday 1/31/2008

Great selection, great customer service, good prices. I loved The Bridal Gallery but I would recommend finding your own person to do alterations. The alteration lady I worked with was a little pushy. I loved everything else about The Bridal Gallery!! The first time I went in ther was a Saturday and it was very busy. I decided to just look around and I went back on a week night because they were open later than all the other bridal shops. I found my dress there and ordered it right away. My only problem there was the older alteration lady was a little rude. I highly recommend shopping at The Bridal Gallery. more

Great Experience! 9/5/2007

I want to let you know that I have ordered my wedding dress and all of my bridesmaid dresses at Bridal Gallery. I had so much fun with the staff, they are honest and friendly! They helped me pick out my dress and showed me many styles of bridesmaid dresses that complemented it! There are so many dresses to pick from. \r \r I ended up going to Bridal Gallery so many times with family and bridesmaids, that I was afraid they would get sick of me, but they were great to work with each time. Some nights were busy, but they got me in a room as soon as they could. They still gave me as much one on one attention as they could...I understood! \r \r I loved everything that they did for me and my friends! I would definitley recommend giving Bridal Gallery a chance! more

Not recommended 8/1/2007

A little lengthy... sorry!\r One of my BM?s is very tall and thin. When she went in to get measured for her dress, the girl didn?t take her height into consideration and ordered a dress that was too small and 3? too short! My BM even suggested to the girl that they order a larger size for the extra length. The girl ordered the smaller one anyway. When we received the dresses I called the BG and they claim they are ?not responsible? for people?s height. I guess that means you can?t have tall Bridesmaids. The real nightmare began when I went in for my alterations. Per their suggestion, I called and set up and appointment with their ?recommended? seamstress 2 months prior to my wedding. At our first meeting, my mother and I clearly explained that we needed a bustle on the dress and a little tuck in the front where it was gapping (strapless dress). The seamstress whipped out her blue gel pen and put two large marks underneath my arms, but close to the front of the more

Worst Experience 7/30/2007

I ordered my bridal gown from this store and called 2 months before my wedding to set up an appointment to have some minor alterations done to the chest area of my strapless dress and a bustle put on for the reception. I had an appointment set with Dottie approx. 2 months before my wedding. We discussed the issues and she marked my dress with ball point pen where it needed to be taken in. When I returned for my next 5 fittings, the dress was never taken in per our first meeting and I was forced to re-explain it to her every time. She never took notes and couldn't remember from one fitting to the next (sometimes 2 days in between) what needed to be done. I was very polite, but became worried when again, 3 days before my wedding, she had incorrectly taken in my dress. I was told at that time that ""nothing could be done"" and it looked ""fine the way it was."" The next day, I had my dad call the owner to make sure that everything was going to be taken care of of my 6th fitting, 2 days before my wedding. The owner was incredibly rude to my dad (who is a very calm person!) and accused me of gaining ""water weight"" and that was the reason the dress did not fit correctly. My dress did not fit, it had blue pen stains on it, it wasn't steamed flat and the bustle was done incorrectly. The customer service was astonishingly horrible and I can't believe they have stayed in business treating people they way that they do. I am the first to praise those people who greatly helped me out and had excellent customer service, but I just wish I could spare anyone from receiving service like this from any business. I would NOT recommend this business to anyone. Cons: Horrible customer service more

Poor Customer Service 11/1/2006

I went in there by myself to look at some bridal gowns while I had some time to spare. Their customer service was awful. I had to wait 5 minutes for the lady to get off the phone for a personal call (I know this because she ended it with I'll see you after work), and then she told me to go find a couple of dresses. I did, but none of them were in my size. I asked them if I could try on these same dresses around my size (they were all extremely too small) and they said they didn't have any that would fit me. I consider myself an average size, so I took it that i was too overweight to have any of their dresses fit me. The dressing rooms were cramped, and they wouldn't let me stand on the pedastal or a box to see everything (I'm short and there were couches in front of the mirrors so I couldn't see the bottom of the dress). Everytime I came out, all of the service people were standing around gabbing and I had to say excuse me more than once to get their attention. Overall, I think more

Hit or Miss 10/6/2006

Both my sister and I are getting married very soon. When we both went to try on gown here, the staff was mildly friendly and we did have to wait a LONG time before even being helped on our first visit. Neither one of us ended up buying our gowns here, but they do have a lot to try on in various price ranges. My sister seleted her BM dress from here - it is a Mori Lee, and is very reasonably priced at BG, the same dress was $50-$75 more at other salons. When we went to be measured, the worker did not have any sence of patience or good customer service. My sister came from Newaygo and we got there 15 minutes before the store closed and the lady was very rude about that saying we should have planned better. Seems like they are not eager to keep business. Darn their low prices! LOL. When I went in for my jewlery, I had to wait literally 30 minutes to even check out. If there is someone in there trying on gowns, forget it, you will not be helped. PROS: LOW prices, good selection, not pushy more

Something for Every Bride 7/12/2006

I took off a star for the small dressing rooms (which aren't TOO bad, but compared to other salons, they are pretty small). Yes, it isn't the most attractive building, but then again most bridal salons aren't. One other negative thing about the Bridal Gallery is that they don't allow you to take pictures in each dress, so you have to kind of bootleg them (as in discreetly take non-flash photos in the small dressing rooms... hey, it works for me). However, I absolutely LOVE the selection & variety of dresses. There is a price range & dress style for every bride at this shop. I seriously have like 20 dresses on my card there because I love them all so much. I need to bring my grandma & my MOH, along with my mom, to help me decide which one is "the one"! I had no problem freely looking around at any dress & taking it back to the dressing room... they don't breathe down your neck or anything while you try on. Also, no appointment is required. After being at the Bridal Gallery twic more

Poor service 7/6/2006

I've been doing business with this company for the past 9 months and have had nothing but problems. I brought in 5 girls who bought their dresses AND shoes there and when problems arose with 2 of the dresses, it would've been all 5 had my seamstress not been with me for 3 of them, they were adamant to not fix their mistake. One of my girls' dresses was 2 sizes too small. No she wasn't pregnant and no she didn't gain ANY weight. The girls who measure do NOT know how as her measurements were 1-2" off after 6 weeks. My bridesmaid told me that when she was fitted, the tape was pulled tight, and when the seamstress measured she kept it looser, obviously you need to breathe, and the measurements were off. Also, I ordered another dress SUPPOSEDLY a full size too big in case a bridesmaid were pregnant. She's not, and the dress fits her perfectly. You may think, "oh wonderful!" Not so much. If she were 3 months pregnant HER dress would've been too small. When I called with this compl more

Huge selection and all sizes in stock! 11/8/2005

I have loved the time I have spent at Bridal Gallery! I have been there 3 times now, and I know that I am going to be getting my brides maid dresses there. There is also a good chance that I will get my wedding gown there also! I have been treated very well by the staff! At first I was hesitant to ask for anything, but then I really warmed up to the staff. When I walked in, they greeted me right away and proceeded to explain how the store was set up. Give them a try!!! P.S. To the other reviewer, I could find the designer of all the gowns I tried on, or just ask and they'll tell you. more
