Editorial review from Citysearch 3/15/2014

THE SECOND WORST COMMUNICATIONS COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. WAS FORCED TO USE THEM BECAUSE MY APARTMENT COMPLEX HAS A CONTRACT.\r \r HAVE HAD TECHNICAL ISSUES ALMOST FROM THE DATE OF INSTALLATION IN DEC 2013. NUMEROUS TECHNICIANS HAVE COME OUT, A FEW CONCERNED AND WANTING TO HELP BUT MOST NOT INTERESTED AND RUDE. \r \r THE PROBLEM IS NOT WITH MY TV (VERIFIED BY ALL TECHS WHO HAVE COME). MOST SERVICE CALLS HAVE LASTED A LONG TIME BECAUSE THEY HAD PROBLEMS TRYING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. MY TV ACTUALLY WORKED CORRECTLY FOR OVER 1 MONTH AFTER RECENT SERVICE, UNTIL THIS WEEK WHEN THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED. I CALLED FOR TECHNICAL SUPPORT. RESETTING THE SYSTEM BY THE COMPANY DID NOT WORK (IT NEVER HAS). A TECHNICIAN CAME OUT YESTERDAY MORNING AND SUPPOSEDLY FIXED THE PROBLEM. WITHIN HOURS THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AND GOT CONSISTENTLY WORSE OVER THE COURSE OF THE DAY AND EVENING. \r \r THIS MORNING (SATURDAY) THE PROBLEM IS THE WORST IT EVER HAS BEEN. I AM UNABLE TO WATCH TV AT ALL. I CALLED FOR SUPPORT/SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THE EARLIEST AVAILABLE TIME WAS ON TUESDAY MORNING. I TOLD THEM THIS WAS UNACCEPTABLE BUT THAT DID NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE. I ASKED TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR AND THE REPRESENTATIVE SAID SHE WAS A SUPERVISOR. SHE WAS QUITE RUDE. I AM A SENIOR CITIZEN WITH MEDICAL PROBLEMS AND LIKE TO WATCH TV. I CANNOT CONTINUE TO COPE WITH THE STRESS OF DEALING WITH AP3. UNFORTUNATELY, I DO NOT THINK THINGS WILL BE CORRECTED. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY IF YOU CAN AVOID IT. more

Absolutely THE WORST 1/24/2012

I would give it 1 star if possible. These people collect money for the services they don't provide. With both DirecTV and internet, they put too may users on the same resource and then act surprised when this doesn't work. I wonder how they worm themselves into so many buildings... Their technicians are totally illiterate, as well. more

Terrible Service 12/17/2011

Access Media is awful. Second time with the same Directv problem and told the soonest service call would be in 6 days. This was after extensive time spent with Directv troubleshooting. Phone agent was not interested in the problem, refusing to let me speak with a superviser. Gave me a voice mail to leave a message. Asked for a return call. Never got one. Dish Network was so much better for our condo association. more

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR ACCESS MEDIA SERVICES!!!!!!!!!!! 10/28/2011

If your condo association is considering using Access Media, DON'T!! The Internet service is soo bad you can't even use skype/Ooma as calls are constantly broken. Forget about customer service, good luck trying to get ANY RESOLUTION on any problem, won't happen. If I could give them a zero I would more

RUN AWAY 6/29/2011

TERRIBLE. WORST COMPANY EVER. EVERYONE WHO WORKS THERE HAS A SH!TTY ATTITUDE. Trying to charge me outrageous amounts of money for ""deposits"" on DirecTVs equipment when even DirecTV wouldnt charge me. I asked her about this and she said nothing she could do and hung up. We have 7 Ethernet ports in our apartment. we couldnt find the one that was ""active"" so after 8 calls and a hour of holding they sent someone out but not until 2 weeks later. Come to find out one was behind a false wall in the coat closet. Wanted to charge $75 to activate another one in a location that could actually be UTILIZED. Money Hungry Company... I WOULD GIVE -10 STARS IF POSSIBLE. The WORST company I have dealt with ever. more

They are horrible 12/9/2010

Slow speed, inability to diagnose or solve issues, they shouldn't be in this business. more

lack of technical support availability 8/12/2010

Access Media 3 is the worst TV and Internet company I have ever seen. To send a technical support personnel to your home, it will take minimum a week. I will say, apartment managers should look another resources. more

IF you like slow internet access this is the company for you 7/13/2010

Our condo board had contracted with a company to provide internet to the building, and that company was bought by Access Media 3, Inc. The best thing I can say about them is that they are consistent... Consistently BAD. Today, (second time in a week) the internet slowed to the pace of a snail trying to traverse a continent of molasses. If you want a slow connection, forget a dial up modem, these are your guys. And in addition to the intermittent connectivity issues and regular slow downs, you'll get to spend about 30-40 minutes on hold each time you call to report these issues. It's like a kick in the chest after they've punched you in the kidney. Vote with your dollars, go elsewhere. I can't because of my crappy condo board contract. Heed this warning, or you can expect HOURS OF MISERY! Pros: None Cons: Customer service is as bad as their internet quality more

Worst customer service ever! 7/5/2010

Unfortunately my experience with Access Media 3 is comparable to what others have said. Dealing with this company is easily the worst customer service experience I have had in my life. The problems are numerous. My cable service malfunctioned, and they couldn't get someone out to fix it until a week after that fact. Every time I called them I was on hold for at least 15 minutes, and once someone answered it was usually the wrong person. On numerous occasions an employee told me he/she would call me back, which NEVER happened. There is no voicemail and no way to leave a message, which is completely incomprehensible. It took me nearly two months to resolve a billing issue that could have been addressed in mere days. This is clearly a company that does not care about customer service in any way, shape, or form. If you have the option of doing so, avoid Access Media 3 like the plague! Cons: Dreadful customer service more

So bad...it's as if they don't care 5/25/2010

We've had their service in our building for about 2 years. I'd say there has never been three consecutive days where the service works properly.\r I don't understand how they are allowed to stay in business. Simply put, they provide the worst service I could imagine. Pros: Zero Cons: Everything more

Terrible, terrible service 4/26/2010

I had to switch to AM3 because my condo building decided to switch from Comcast. AM3 has the worst customer service I've had in a very long time. I had a hi-def box installed about 2 weeks ago and it still isn't working correctly. I had a technician out twice and I still get messages saying it's looking for a satellite signal, or I can be watching a movie, only to have the video freeze and then get the audio from a baseball game. \r \r The worst part of AM3 is their terrible customer service. They ""pride"" themselves on their 24 hour customer service, but all it is is an answering service..... if you can even get through. I tried calling Sunday only to find myself disconnected after going through their voice mail. This is a company that supposedly supplies internet and satellite TV service and they can't even get their answering service to work properly???? Any other times I've called, I've been on hold anywhere from 15 to 40 minutes. Either their employees aren't answering the phone, or they have an incredible amount of unhappy customers trying to call them (which speaks volumes in itself). I'm totally frustrated. I just spent $2000 on a new wide-screen hi def TV and entertainment system and I'm sitting here watching a frozen image of Kevin Costner while I'm listening to audio of a basketball game. At one time the picture (of Costner) froze and I got an error message that said the ""game"" was blacked out in my area. I actually took a picture of that screen with my phone so I could prove what was going on and that it's not my imagination. I am amazed at the extremely poor service of this company. If you can, avoid it at all costs. I NEVER had this kind of trouble with Comcast. Pros: none that I can think of Cons: pretty much everything more

Absolutely TERRIBLE 4/15/2010

For some ungodly reason my building decided to switch our internet and cable service to this provider. In the last month and a half I have been on the phone (well on hold, then on the phone) with them over 20 times. Each time, a service man has been scheduled to come out to my place to address the spotty internet and cable service. I have waited at home several times on weekends and left work early. Only a third of the time has a service man ever come, and when he does he has not succeeded in fixing anything. WORD of advice, if you are thinking about moving into a large building serviced by this company DONT. I am moving out of my building soley because of my repeated troubles with this miserable provider, I Hope to god they go bankrupt. Pros: They've succeeded in firing me up weekly before I work out. Cons: Customer Service, Quality of Service, Internet Speed Etc more

Worst service ever 12/7/2009

I have had them before for internet it was very cheap but worked well in my other building although it was very hard to get tech help when setting up the internet. Also they would not bill me for months then take it all out at once. I moved to a new building and Access 3 is all we can have and it is worse than ever. I had to wait over 2 weeks for them to come in and hook up cable phone and internet. I was told the day the guy came that internet and phone was down... found out later that was a lie the phone and internet was working just fine. I had to wait another 2 weeks to get someone to come hookup the internet and phone ... then they canceled b/c the woman was sick then the same guy showed up the next day..... Also no one ever answers the phone I have called a dozen time each time having to leave a message and then wait for them to call back usually took about 2 days for the returned call.... I am stuck with them b/c I have no choice but if you can avoid them you should more

I have never had a worse provider (cable, internet, or phone 9/6/2009

I am usually not outspoken about things but this has been one of the worst experiences with a company in my life. My internet, phone, and TV had several connection errors over the 6 months I had the service. Without much technical support, it took sometimes 3 days to resolve the problem. If you don't mind not having TV or internet for 3 days, then you might like Access Media 3. I was charged 4 months for call forwarding and 3-way call but I called over 10 times to have it set up without a response. I asked for a refund but no response from customer service. I don't know how I could have had a worse experience. Avoid Access Media 3 if possible and save yourself stress and hours of frustration! Pros: Fast internet when works Cons: No technical support, TV, Interent and Phone often fail more

Stay Away 8/28/2009

I just checked my bank account it seems they've been forgetting to take their monthly payments, so they decided to take them all out at one time. Without calling me. This is just icing on the cake with these guys. I could go on and on. Just stay away. Pros: inept more

Not reliable or flexible at all... 9/29/2008

They claim to be the most reliable and flexible cable and internet provider in Chicago...hardly. It took them 3 hours to hook up cable in a small 2 bedroom apartment and there was some sort of wiring issue for the internet so we never got that set up and we were not told what the specific issue was. After I called back 2-3 times to try and set up an appointment for the internet they finally told me that the issue is something that I will need to call our building manager about (which we could have done right away had they told us anything about it!). We still have not been able to have our internet set up because they consider these ""flexible and reliable"" hours: only weekdays 9am at the earliest and 4pm at the latest...so now we have to take off work to get this set up. \r \r Even though they never actually set up the internet they still sent us a bill for the installation and have been sending us bills for internet usage even though we have never had it!!\r \r If it wasn't for our building making us switch to these schmucks I would still be enjoying Comcast internet, cable, and OnDemand...oh and I wouldn't have had to pay over $200 for installation either. more
