The gentleman they sent was very respectful and took the time to listen to all of my concerns before going through the house fixing them and even volunteering to take care of an additional problem that was further down on my ""to do"" list. I am very gratful to Larry for his service and for having the integrity not to over charge me even when I expected to have a large plumbing invoice. more

\r A-1 American is a great company, as evidenced by their employees genuine concern and desire to help. I had an on-going problem with my furnance.. worked for a few weeks, then died.. worked for a few weeks... then died, causing endless frustration. Fortunately, I had outstanding tech, Douglas Jackson on my side, who went the extra mile to enure that my problem was solved. He put in every effort to see me, the same day that I called, and wouldn't leave until everything tested fine and my system worked. When we finally discovered the problem - I needed a new circuit board, the price he gave me was fair, and his installation was excellent. I've read that some customers have been complaining about the prices that A-1 charges, saying that they could get the parts and service for a lesser cost, somewhere else, or that they could do it themselves and save. All I can really say to that is... you get what you pay for. I checked around with a couple of different places, and what A-1 charges is NOT that far off from what the others do, plus they are backed by an outstanding company that truly does care about their clients. I really appreciated the quality work and quick response from A-1 American! I had a kitchen sink that would not shut off, with water gushing out. The technicians arrived in the later evening in less than a half hour and did an excellent sink replacement. I will be recommending them to my friends and neighbors. more

Do Not Use this company! We broke a plastic PVC pipe in the garage (the main I was told) it was around 6pm at night when we called. We got the water turned off and moved everything away from the location. The tech arrived around 7pm put 2 couplings on and left within about 30mins. The charge $935 with a $100 military discount reducing it to $835. That price seemed made up out of thin air. No labor or parts specifics -just some ridiculous price for the 30mins of work. Yes we called at night and we expected to pay something - maybe $400 but where did they even get the $935 amount? I called and talked to the supervisor - who is supposed to get back to me. Really has me upset...seemed they targeted us because we had an emergency. Though their ad says call anytime -it doesn't say we will rob you blind. Waiting for supervisor to call back. 10/31/12 more

Excellent work! 9/19/2012

When I saw the technician I thought he looked a little young. I'm glad I let him continue with his work. John W. did a FANTASTIC job with my air conditioner. He arrived promptly and was not in a rush. He told me exactly what was wrong with the unit and what he had to do to fix it. My highest recommendation for this young professional. He is as good as they come, and I'm glad A-1 American employs competent and respectful people to do excellent work. more

Terrible, called for AC repair. Charged me $78 to tell me that they would like to charge me $300 more for the repair than the competition. Representative became abrasive when I declined his bid. They also operate on flat pricing and couldn't even tell me the cost of the parts required for the repair, or the labor cost of the repair. more

I have to write in in praise of Mark from A-1 American . We had been having issues with our Unit for several weeks. We had another company look at it twice. Mark came in, inspected the unit, found the problem, and got it fixed in a day! As an educator I appreciated how he took the time to educate me on what exactly was wrong and had to fixed and on ways to take care of the unit. He was highly professional, efficient, and informative. I wll make it a point to refer A-1 American to my friends and neighbors if they want a job done by true professionals! more

On 7/18/12, ""Darrell"" came to fix a leak in toilet cut-off valve. He inspected the leak, went back out to his truck and came back later with a work order to replace emergency cutoff sweat angle stop with limited access with a ""standard book rate"" of $732.10. He then proceeded to come up with various discounts that brought the price down to $409.39. (Still obscene!) We told him no thanks, and paid the $78.00 service charge.\r We called another plumber who came the next day. He tightened the compression nut on the cutoff valve, and since it was such an easy job (about 10 minutes top) asked if there was anything else I might need done. Told him one toilet was not flushing well, he checked and chiseled out a lot of calcium build-up that had accumulated. Total charge $125.00! Needless to say, we would never recommend A-1!!!! more

A1 American charged my Mother $600 for a simple residential bathroom clogged drain. She is an older Filipino woman, taking care my Father, whom is a white disabled, retired, Navy Veteran. She asked the guy why it was so expensive and he replied with ""that's how much it costs in this economy"". She wrote a check and never called them for their services again. Just for the record, a simple residential bathroom clogged drain, with no additional repair work during regular operating hours (and with an appointment), should yield about a $70-$80 price range. Call around. LOOK FOR SOMEONE ELSE. THESE GUYS WILL RIP YOU OFF. HORRIBLE.\r more
