This company has the worst BBB rating you can get. They over charge. Lots and lots of complaints. Do yourself a favor read ripoff reports or go to the BBB and get the truthful reviews. more

After working diligently for over three hours to unclog the main drain line, their plumber just left the house! He was extremely professional and personable, did excellent work, and cleaned up when he was done. Next time we need plumbing assistance we'll be calling A-1 and requesting the same guy! more

Friendly and professional services. The plumbing in our home is some cheap stuff from the 80's and he knew what to do with it. The problem was fixed fast and he did a great job cleaning up too. We would definitely use them again. more

A-1 American came out the day I called. The technician, Jake, was very knowlegeable and noted our old air conditioner was leaking freeon gas into the home, reason for our head congestion, sore throats and aches. We had priced a new air and heat pump and were pleased when Jake offered a large unit at much less than previous quotes. Jake was at our home early the next morning installing the new unit. Within minutes of installation, the house was already cool. We are pleased customers. more

These guys are laughable; check out Angies List if you want the real story. They got the worse rated plumber award for the entire year! I am not sure how / who voted for the Va Pilot positive ratings, but I suspect it was family members of employees who were threatened to do so. more

Tell you service techs / sub contractors to quit taking advantage of senior citizens, over charging them like 700.00 for a capacitor that should be 110.00 installed or getting them to sign a contract for new unit when they think there signing the invoice. As an owner you should have better quality control. What goes around comes around.\r Call Anybody but these guys more

Please do your research before calling this company! They have hundreds of complaints of over charging. My daughter was charged over 400 dollars an hour to fix a leaky toilet! 1300 !! Check the better business bureau, they rated this company F more

MAJOR RIP OFF 7/8/2013

If you like getting ripped off this is the place to go. Had a tech come out and charged me 426.00 to replace the capacitor. I've done it before for under 120.00. Even the BBB gave it a FAILING grade of F.\r \r Facebook a1 american virginia beach ripoff...Please write your reviews there also. And friend this page so that your friends and family will not get RIPPED OFF from this company. more

They don't have enough bad words for this rip off. It's unbelievable how bad this company is. They told my daughter that a PVC toilet flange was against code and charged her 1300 dollars to replace it. Not only are PVC flanges code, they are the preferred method. They spent 3 hours replacing this flange which according to other plumbers should cost no more then 300 dollars. Unfortunately my daughter didn't research this company or she would have found that they have an F rating from the BBB and several complaints to the licensing board and is listed on the Rip Off Report\r Not to mention all the negative comments on this board.\r more

A-1 installed a water heater at my house recently. Their techs were very friendly and knew a lot about what they were doing. They ordered the tank and it didn't take long for it to be shipped. When it came in they had it installed that day and it's running great. Night and day difference from before. I would recommend A-1 American without hesitation. more

Called A-1 to come out and snake my outside drain. They were only here 10 minutes and charged me 800.00.Outrageous. I ended up calling back just to inquire the price and they said it would only be 200+ if they could get it fixed within an hour. I can't believe they overcharged me like that. I will never ever use their services again. The only reason why I called them in the first place is because they give military discount, but I see that they really don't look out for the military. To all my fellow servicemen and women, beware of this company.. more
