YOU ARE STUPID IF YOU USE THIS COMPANY...\r THEY PROMISED FOE 3 days they would be out to fix a busted pipe.\r Each day we called and were told they were coming. Each day they never showed and told us we were never on the schedule.\r \r If you use them...you will get the same service. Several friends had same experience.\r Go ahead and call Norfolk Plumbing .\r \r Trust me you will be sorry...they are a rip off more

BUYER BEWARE! This place is a RIPOFF. I don't know how much clearer I can be, CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED!\r \r Outrageously overpriced and they seem completely okay with taking advantage of the elderly. Pretty disgusting in my book. They took a part off the furnace (of an elderly family member) that was still under warrranty and said it needed to be replaced, without ever mentioning the fact that they would be getting the replacement part for FREE. The quote for 30 minutes work and a free part was nearly $1,000. However, they did give a senior discount of $150 to make it mid $800's. Serisouly? DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. more

Excellent work fixing a pipe for us 11/4/2013

Thomas did a great job....thought we had a leak in the bathroom..changed the seal out....leak was worse the next day...was not the seal but a crack in the pipe...all fixed...excellent job...thank you.... more

A leaking Water Main Line under the crawlspace was causing me a real headache, not to mention a rising water bill. I called the A-1 Emergency Line and within 2-hours, they were at my front door. What professionals... courteous, easy o talk to, and very knowledgeable. They provided a written estimate and explained the entire procedure for the replacement. I also acquired two additional quotes from two other competitors, but A-1's professionalism and price won the day. They arrived the next morning, and they completed the job in a timely manner. I must say, that if A-1 American relies on their technicians to provide excellent service and customer satisfaction, they get A-plus in all categories. Job WELL DONE! more

The heat index was 115 in my area and it got up to 90 degrees inside. Our 2 small children and my wife's cat were not faring well. The technician who came out was very polite and professional. He was able to diagnose and fix the problem in under an hour. He was also able to provide advice on how to take care of our cooling unit as well as explain to me how the system works. I would definitely recommend A-1 to anyone needing A/C repair. more

A-1 American really went above and beyond to ensure that the work needed in my home was done efficiently and at the highest of quality. The installers explained everything to me and when there was an additional problem with my water heater, went above and beyond by calling the manufacturer to utilize the warranty, retrieving the appropriate part, and returning to complete the job. They finished my leaky faucet before I could even check to see how it was going! I will definitely be a repeat customer! more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I cannot stress it enough. They are ""F"" rated on BBB. They will not give an estimate over the phone, and then when they try to price gouge with a ridiculously overpriced amount, you are stuck paying $78 for the diagnostic fee. On top of that, they will show you what you think is a written estimate (calling it a ""work order""), and try to get you to sign. When you do, and you try to cancel, they will want 10% cancellation fee!!! Look at ripoffreport.com and complaintsboard.com. The locals here (we are new) all have told us what scammers they are. It is so true. I just wish I had known sooner. Here's the kicker: When I called the State Board of Commerce about them, they laughed and said they are FLOODED with complaints about this company!\r \r CONTACT THE STATE BOARD OF COMMERCE if you have a problem with a contract. The STATE BOARD OF COMMERCE is a government entity which grants the license and enforces actions against the business if their practices are questionable. This could mean fines to revocation of their license to practice business. I just had a Goodman Heat and Air unit installed by their installer. We recognized right away he had many years experience and knew what he was doing. Even though, we shrugged at the expense of a new unit, having priced them already, he was able to provide us with a well known product at a much lower cost and installed it less than 24 hours later. We were very happy and felt the difference in the air conditioning within minutes. Thank you and we are very satisfied customers. more

My husband and I just got taken to the tune of $4600.00 and we plan to file a claim in civil court!! The technician came out and said we needed a new compressor for our AC unit because a ""power surge"" had ""burnt up"" the old one. Our homeowners would have covered this type of damage but, upon checking they determined that all that was needed was a replacement wire. A 3rd AC repairman came out today and confirmed what the homeowner's technician said. A1 also wanted to take our old unit away (of course they did! They can get refunds and even sell the copper from inside the unit without giving any rebate to us, the proper owners, of course. Now, they refuse to even return phone calls regarding this issue. If you are reading this, DO NOT call this company unless you like being taken advantage of by shifty, amoral con artists! more
