Voyageurs International cancelled and will not refund our money 3/24/2020

Please DO NOT EVER TRAVEL WITH COMPANY! With the coronavirus VIL cancelled our trip. We did not. Per their contract "VIL would only cancel your tour within ten (10) days prior to your tour scheduled travel dates." It appears that VIL has voided/nulled their own contract. The cancellation fee is $1900.pp with which VIL will not return this amount to us. Our trip is 3+ months from now. I sent them a letter requesting and itemized listing of where the $1900. was allocated. As of date they have not responded. From the number of responses on fb, many participants have called and they refuse to give that information out. I have filed a complaint with CO AG, BBB and also sent them a letter. With what is going on right now with Covid-19, people and talented students really need a full refund. Please never travel with this company. They have been in business for 50 years and have made a lot of money from their participants. To be fair to their customers...and their future, we all believe that they should provide us with a full refund. Many of these people than were to go from many states are planning on a class action lawsuit. I can only hope that this will put pressure on VIL and they do the right thing and refund our money in full. more

Cancellation Fee 3/24/2020

I hope legal action is taken against this extremely dishonest company. The cancellation policy outlined in their contract pertains to PARTICIPANT cancellation, not cancellation by Voyager's International. As has been mentioned in all of the other posts, most airlines and hotels have provided full refunds due to COVID-19 so they will need to justify how they have spent $1900 per student in administrative costs given they are likely not out any money for any travel arrangements that have been made. more

Dishonest in a time of crisis 3/24/2020

VIL cancelled the trip due to the covid-19 crisis. We had an idea this could happen however they want to keep $1900 of our money per person, Upholding their cancellation policy based on if we decide to cancel. We did not cancel. Below is their reasoning. "VIL has made payments for travel arrangements that it will not be able to recoup." I believe VIL has as much right as we do to demand a full refund from the companies they are doing business with based on the current crisis. And the companies they do business with should be happy to refund the money, After all VIL is bring them all this Business. That is what a reasonable business man or woman would do to keep their customer happy especially in a crisis like this. So in my opinion VIL should do what any reasonable company should do and refund the full amount. After all we the customers of VIL are the one's that give them our business and keep them in business. VIL is taking advantage of their customers in a crisis situation. Do they think we believe that they companies they deal with will not return some or all of the monies they paid? They are taking advantage and they think we are stupid. more

Unethical Behavior! 3/24/2020

Voyageurs International claims to have served over 212,000 students for over 50 years, and now wants hundreds of families to understand why it is stealing $1,900 per person?! My son and I upheld our end of the contract and paid everything in full months ago. We did not break the contract, VIL decided to break the contract. Therefor they are obligated to return ALL of our money! They should not be allowed to keep our families $3,800 or anyone else's. That is outright STEALING! Now they won't even answer their phones. Shame on you! Please include me in any Class Action Lawsuit because this is absolutely corrupt behavior. The kids already lost the trip they have been dreaming about for over a year, do not punish them twice!! ZERO STARS!! more

1099'ing them 3/23/2020

Georgia is in the same boat. 140+ people going and not getting their $1900.00 back. We are all in if there is a Class action lawsuit. At bare minimum I will be demanding receipts for "money spent that cannot be recouped" and I am going to 1099 them for each of us not going. All we need is their Tax ID number which we should be able to get online. You can 1099 anyone you pay more than $600 in one year to for a service. My family is out $5700 and that's not chump change for us. That's a LOT of money!! I hope they see all of these reviews and decide to do right by us, unfortunately I don't think they will. more

Mad in Minnesota 3/23/2020

It is the same song here in MN. Approximately 400 people/kids going and they are keeping all $1900 for each person. Sounds like we are going to get some of the Greece money back but this far out and given the global pandemic, it should be a total refund for everything - regardless of what the contract states. It's the right thing to do. Please, if you know, leave the total number of people/kids going from your state when you leave a review. If there were 15 tours and there were 400 people per tour, that's $11.4M more

Disappointed Dad 3/23/2020

Indiana is in the same situation. My daughter was scheduled to go on the trip June 18 to July 3. I'm very disappointed in the manner Voyageurs International has handled this situation. I have filed a complaint with the Colorado Attorney General's office. This can be done easily online. I will be reaching out to the BBB next. more

Thieves 3/23/2020

We are in the same boat in Iowa. This company cancelled our trip and is keeping $1900 of our money, for nothing! I went to the BBB as suggested in one of the other posts, and according to them, this company has no reviews currently. I am going to go back and give my honest opinion, and I hope many of you will do the same. Has anyone contacted a lawyer? I'm wondering if we can get together across the country and file a class action suit. At this point, it's not even completely about the money for me, it's about the behavior of a multi-million dollar company at a time when people are struggling just to get through the day. Nothing like putting profits above the people who made their company successful in the first place, families and kids across the US! Wish I could give a 0 star rating because that is what they deserve! more

Thieves in a crisis!!! 3/22/2020

This company is full of it!!! They cancelled, not me. All major hotel chains and airlines cancellations are being refunded days or weeks in advance, much less months. Pure and simple they are gambling on people letting this go, I will not and it looks like others will not as well. Read Governing Law on the back regarding arbitration. Also under Responsibility this tour company is only supposed to cancel in the case of a travel advisory within 10 days of departure. This is well outside of the 10 day window. If this company will not fully refund the trip then I hope they are buried in lawsuits until they go under fighting them. I am starting with my congressman and Governor Polis's office. Mortgage companies are offering relief, banks are offering deferred payments of all kinds and the Federal Government is even sending checks out. Any check I would have received (not that I need or want one) would not come close to covering this thievery. Good luck jerks, hope you tank!!! more

Will they listen? Will they respond? Here’s an idea. 3/22/2020

VIL is stealing from hundreds of families. They are profiteering off a global tragedy and masking their receipt in apologetic apathy. They are most certainly insured and will be reimbursed for whatever they lost. That $1900 per person is pure profit to the Mahaffy family. To the tune of at least $5 million. So far the only possible way I can find to email them is through the Better Business Bureau: https://www.bbb.org/us/co/wheat-ridge/profile/travel-agency/voyageurs-international-ltd-0885-15566 Please feel free to follow that link, attempt to write them as well, and while you’re there leave a review. The only way they will answer the noise of complaints is if that noise is loud enough and coming from all directions. more

Global pandemic costs our family $3800 3/22/2020

We paid in full for 2 to travel in Summer of 2020 on a trip sponsored by Voyageurs International. In the midst of a global pandemic (COVID19) we received a letter on March 20 stating the trip was canceled and we would be out $1900 per person of the over $6,700 dollars the trip cost. As they stated in their letter they were following their cancellation policy. But wait??? I didn't cancel the trip...they did! This company has got to be insured for natural disasters such as this. So many travel companies are issuing refunds for Spring break trips and other planned early Summer travel, that it seems irresponsible for Voyageurs to NOT fight for our students and their families. Our kids worked hard to earn money for this trip. Families made sacrifices. Do the right thing, Voyageurs! It's not too late to make this right!! more

no refund for cancelled trip 3/22/2020

they wont refund the full amount. i will be joining the lawsuit more

NOT INSURED?! They are stealing your money. 3/21/2020

They have unceremoniously cancelled the 2020 summer trip and in a not-very-well-explained letter said they would refund all but $1900 per PERSON! This is an absurd abuse of trust. They took approximately $7000 for each child and have apparently squandered it to the tune of millions. I called them and though they admitted the fees INCLUDED travel insurance, they would be unable to recoup the down payments they already placed on air travel and hotel bookings. They also told me that their business itself was NOT INSURED for events such as this. This is either a lie or a testament to how incredibly shady and poorly run their greed-filled money hungry organization is. I find this hard to believe. The travel industries are refunding everyone everything, yet these folks must pocket $2K per kid? I suspect they will need those held fees to handle the upcoming lawsuits. more

Do Not Travel with Voyageurs International - Class Action Law Suit 3/21/2020

I too called VI and received the recording that no one was in the office due to the Covid-19. We have a total of 393 going from WI which is $2,650,785.00. Our letter was received and we were told we would only be refunded $1900.pp and most of us have paid over $6,745.pp This is not good business. Since this is a national pandemic and the US government has issued a Level 4 travel advisory (which is DO NOT TRAVEL) this company should refund ALL money paid to them. We are traveling Delta and I know for a fact that in this instance Delta will refund in total all money paid. Our trip is 3+ months away and we will be staying in a total of 5 hotels. This company certainly would be able to cancel with no cancellation fee for the air fare and hotels. I'm sure that these hotels will be closing down anyway due to the coronavirus. This company is receiving a number of negative reviews and I believe they will continue. This company needs to provide a full refund to all of these customers from the Ambassadors of Music or be subject to a class action lawsuit. I attended a Get Acquainted meeting on 3/14/20 and asked about the travel and coronavirus and was told to contact VI, in which case I did. I was told that VI has been meeting for the last two days in regard to this issue and I would be receiving a letter in a couple of days. Then a day later when the Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo changed the travel advisory from 3 one week to 4 the next week I again called VI and received the recording that no one would be in the office due to the coronavirus. I have sent a letter to VI requesting a full refund and also requesting a detailed accounting of their justification for the $1900.00 which they say they will not refund. I have also indicated that they may force us to take further action by contacting our personal attorney. Our attorney would demand the name, address and phone number of their attorney and a list of names and addresses of all the people scheduled on this trip with the potential for a class action lawsuit. Taking advantage of customers! 3/21/2020

Do not use this company! In our time of crisis with a global pandemic all they’re worried about is themselves! They are keeping $1900 plus the FULL AMOUNT of our Greece extension! What company doesn’t try to make things right? I hope this ruins them and they can let the real caring companies take our children on trips!!! more

" Class Action Lawsuit Needed "!!! 3/21/2020

What the crap! They said "We will refund to each Participant all but $1900 by April 1, 2020. We hope you understand the need to cancel the tour for health and safety concerns and that VIL has paid out more than $1900 per student for the upcoming tour season that it cannot recoup. Thank you for your understanding." I CAN'T UNDERSTAND AT ALL!" more

Buyer beware 3/21/2020

The country is in crisis, travel restrictions in place, CDC guidelines indicating that this epidemic hasn’t even hit its height yet in the United States and this company says “we’re hopeful this will be resolved” and tells us to determine how much risk we are willing to take. If I cancel by April 1, I lose $2200. After that I get no refund whatsoever for at $6345 trip that very likely will not happen. How is this possible or ethical? Class Action suit is definitely needed on this. more

What a scam.....World is fighting Coronaviris and company does offer complete refund 3/21/2020

We are over 3 months from departure of our son's trip to Europe. Voyagers is withholding $1900 to cover "costs that were incurred". All other travel agents are working with their customers to give them full refunds under the circumstances. Seems to me like Voyagers is filling their pockets. They had 15 groups of students scheduled to travel this summer---maybe 200 students per group would equate to $5.7 million dollars withheld from consumers. THEY ARE CROOKED!! more

Class Action Lawsuit Needed - NO refund due to Coronavirus - UNREAL 3/21/2020

The rating stars above aren't working - I give them a minus one billion!!! They are keeping the money that they are not entitled to. The whole world is in a crisis..the trip has been cancelled...and they are insisting on keeping $1900 of my money as a cancellation penalty!! This is insane. more

Re: Ignoring COVID-19 Crisis 3/20/2020

Please keep us updated regarding what you find out. We have the same cancellation date as you and need to find out if there will be refunds if there are travel restrictions in effect this summer. Thank You! more
