Awful and unethical company who is profiting from the COVID-19 pandemic. They cancelled a Europe tour for July 2020, more than three months before the departure date, due to the travel advisories in place with the COVID-19 pandemic. However, their contract states that they would only cancel a tour because of travel advisories within 10 days of departure. They breached the contract but are adhering to the cancellation policy and withholding $1,900 of the $6,345 tour cost. They refuse to give a cost break down of their expenses to show what they have lost. I have called them numerous time and their mailbox is now full. The communication from them is terrible - all they have to do is explain the break down of what has been paid so we can understand why they are immorally taking our money. We are extremely disappointed with this company's behavior especially given the extreme situation our country and world is in with the COVID-19 pandemic. more

This company is keeping $1,900 of every student due to them cancelling the tour for the summer of 2020. That is over $7 million dollars for a trip that they cancelled due to Covid 19 and travel restrictions set forth by the government. Do not do business with this company as they will also rip you off. more

I too am completely outraged about VIL. Cancellation is obvious, because the world is shutting down due to COV. But to not refund our money!!!! We're from Minnesota. Not sure of the amount of kids going, 200+. What can we do? Let's start moving together as a group. Please look for a review by Mitch Katz, and reply to him. The group that was going this summer (2020) we are all going through an absolute nightmare! Please, please if you are planning on going with Voyageurs International Ltd. in the summer of 2021 I beg you to not put any money down and I strongly recommend you not to go! As the way VIL contracts is written, it is totally written that they will never suffer any loss. They cancelled on us...we did not cancel and they are not upholding their own contract. Voyageurs Int’l has decided to withhold $1900 from every registered participant in their summer tours. Many other reviews have voiced their displeasure with their actions. Add our voice! Potentially millions of dollars into their coffers. I find it difficult to believe that that money cannot be recovered given the fact that so many businesses are refunding... shame on them. I hope the court of public opinion delivers a guilty verdict and the company will not do this in the future. If indeed they still exist after this year. P.S. This company is keeping $7M that is owed to children around the United States and using the Covid-19 as the reason. They cancelled the trips, but kept the money that these kids raised to go on these trips. more

I am a parent of one of what seems like thousands of students whose summer 2020 music tour to Europe has been cancelled by VIL. We also got the letter dated March 17, 2020, telling us that VIL intends to keep $1,900 of the more than $6,000 we paid in advance for our son's trip. I'm OUTRAGED by this unilateral and unfair decision on their part, and have contacted them numerous times by phone, but have only been able to speak with someone named Rick Netzer. He's been very unhelpful, cited language in the contract that I do not think applies in this case, and refused to provide me with an email address to submit a complaint or to contact Mr. Mahaffy, VIS's president. I'm currently working with a nationally syndicated travel columnist, who also works as a consumer advocate when things like this occur. They're trying to contact VIL, but need an email address to do it. If anyone has one, could you please send it to me at mkatz415@gmail.com as soon as possible? I fear that if they do send the refund checks by April 1, as they said in the letter, if we cash them, there may be some clause in a document somewhere that says we forfeit our right to seek legal action to get back the $1,900 they effectively have stolen from us. This company should not be allowed to practice anymore. They took $1,900 from 3,000 students and families when they canceled the Europe tour scheduled for June and July of 2020. It was cancelled 3 months before and the contract stated they would not cancel except for 10 days before. Families are trying to find food and how to pay bills and find a new job if their job is non essential now and around the world hotels and airlines are giving full refunds or vouchers but we are offered nothing and they are taking our money. They have not given us a schedule of fees so we have no idea what they are doing with the money. Never take a trip with Voyageurs International Ltd. They are a fraud and uncaring company that preys on students and families. They also lost a huge check I sent for 3 of us to go on the trip when i paid in full in November. They told me that it happens frequently. Why do they not have electronic transfers or card payments. I would think in our day and age it would be more efficient and a better business practice. I almost cancelled then as it didn't sit right with me that they did not have an electronic way to pay. I think they are a scam and do not want the electronic files to be seen by anyone. They are taking way more money than they should be. Please spread the word and never use this company for any travel or go on an Ambassadors of Music tour associated with this travel company again. They need to be stopped as they are preying on our young children. more

My family and I find what VIL is doing reprehensible and repugnant. We are in the middle of a crises and they respond with "oh sorry, we feel bad but we need to keep $1,900 just because. Oh and be safe." WTF!? Families are hurting, sick and dying and may of us are not able to work because our state has shut down (I'm in Washington and now can't go to work) so we're not bringing in any $. Thankfully the gov't is trying to help as well as landlords and other companies who collect but what are you doing? Taking that money and claiming you have a right to it! We worked hard to scrape together the thousands owed so our son can have this wonderful opportunity. He worked to pay for a lot of it, and my parents helped as well. Now you're keeping $1,900?!! Who's getting that money? Every where around the world venues, airlines, etc are refunding 100% because we are in a crises! And you're taking $1,900 from ea child?! Echoing all of the comments here. Same response to same questions regarding cancellation and refunds. This is abominable and everyone needs to take action with their own state's AG, BBB and continue to flood VIL with calls and letters. To the person with the attorney gathering names, make sure they get a list from the families in Minnesota.
