My fiance took me to Vincent to propose. We had the tasting menu with wine. The staff was great---especially our server, Jennifer. They played along with his plans for the prop...

I have mixed feelings about Vincent. The first time my husband and I went there was when we had excellent service and food (coq au vin). About 6 months later we came back and ha...

Don't waste your money. 3/14/2005

My girlfriend and I went there the other night. Our waiter was snooty: Not appropriate for Minneapolis. I asked for a recommendation on the Bordeaux, which He supplied. Later He informed me He hadn't tried any of them. The wine was not very good [$56]. The food, starting with the Endive, Frisée and Mâche Salad was bland and uninspiring, very muted. The Grilled Sirloin Steak over masted potatoes was drenched in a terriaki marinade, which completely overpowered the meat. The Creme Brulee, however is the best I have ever had. Spend your $200 elsewhere. Apparently others agree as this place was 2/3 empty at 7pm. Pros: Creme Brulee, Bread, Location Cons: Uninspiring food, Snooty Service, Overpriced more

Chicagoan's impression 3/7/2005

Service was spotty. I could hear one server who acted like he was serving people in a sports bar. Then I actually, for the first time ever at any restaurant, heard a server complain to the host in the dining area about having to serve an additional table. I had the scallops (AMAZING - among the best I've ever had), and the lamb chops (not seasoned properly but cooked correctly - overall mediocre and for $40+, barely acceptable). The decor looks like they shopped at Home Depot - not what you expect for fine dining. No art, either, which is disappointing. Wine list was quite good, though. Overall, I don't think I'd return even if I lived in Minneapolis. Pros: Wine list, Scallops, ummm Cons: spotty service, decor, food's seasoning more

Improved 11/28/2004

I've been to Vincent's several times, and they keep getting better. The service has improved, although can still be spotty. The variety of food for vegetarians is better. The quality of the food was never in doubt. The tables for more than 4 are very, very roomy. So much so, it can be hard to hear what the people across the table are saying. If you're looking for excellent food, albeit not cheap, this is a great place to go. Pros: Excellent food Cons: , Lousy parking more

Great place. 10/10/2004

Innovative food (that never gets overly innovative), attentive service, comprehensive wine list, fabulous desserts, generally quiet and serene. The parking is non-existent, however. Pros: Outstanding food, Professional service Cons: , A wee pricey more

An Awesome Eatery 2/22/2004

For anyone who enjoys eating in the French style, this is the place. Classic dishes with interesting regional twists coupled with very thoughtful and relatively comprehensive wine offerings make this one of the top restaurants in the Twin Cities. Splurge and get the nightly tasting menu: a good value. We enjoyed: microgreen salade, seafood stew, roasted monkfish, veal shank, lamb prepared 2 ways, cheese and dessert. Opt for the additional wine flights and you have the makings of a very special meal. Pros: Thoughtful wine list, A kitchen table, Outstanding food Cons: , Service a bit spotty more

One of MSP's Best 2/13/2004

I have written more than a few reviews on Vincent. After visiting again tonight (we go every six weeks or so), I feel the need let everyone know this is one of MSPs best restaurants. Vincent will change his menu occasionally and with this comes a new ""something different"" appetizer. Tonight it was a braised tripe dish that could compare with the best of them. In the past it has been duck gizzard confit, sauteed sweetbreads, and braised pork belly. All of them deserve recognition. We love eating at the bar where it feels much more homey than the dining area. Try it sometime! Pros: Food Quality, Atmosphere, "Something Different" Cons: Few and Far Between more

Fine food flourishes at Vincent! 9/7/2003

When every course is delicious, you know you've found a gem. Although we had to wait at the bar for a few moments despite our reservations, an excellent cosmo smoothed things over. We had a nice table for two to enjoy a generous salad with parmesan and toasted nuts and the heirloom tomato salad. I had the lamb which was phenomenally tender and flavorful while my fiance had the beef tenderloin- also cooked to perfection. We shared a marvelous cheese plate and a 3 cremes dessert. In addition to the exquisite food, the waiter graciously decanted our wine and put our dessert wine on ice at our request and to the interest of many fellow diners. Even the expensive bill couldn't tarnish the fabulousness of the evening! Pros: excellent food, not pretentious, did not leave hungry! Cons: was I overdressed?, not a bargain more

I'll try again 8/25/2003

Five of us went to celebrate my husbands b-day.Beautiful place, beautiful people, nice menu. The food took forever, was LUKEWARM and a $32.00 steak arrived burnt crispy. The server and manager were VERY apologetic, and comped us desserts and took the steak off the bill. The food all tasted delicious tho, (I had melon ravioli with foie gras, roasted duck breast, and figs for dessert) and the service and atmosphere-with it's open kitchen- are fun and classy. I really love French food, and the staff was so nice, so I'll probably try again. The bar had nice menus for food and wine by the glass. Maybe my next trip to Vincent will be to the bar for Steak tartar and a glass of wine. How long could that take? Pros: great cusine, classy atmosphere, French food! Cons: EXPENSIVE, LOUD, KITCHEN PROBLEMS more

The Best Food. 8/6/2003

I love the food at this restaurant. It's been great every time. The decor is a little amateur. Ok, it's ugly. Pros: Tasty delights Cons: Suburban Style more

C'est bon! 6/27/2003

""Vincent's is the place of sophistication hardly matched in the city, by far. This sweet hideaway was and is by far one of my favorites. The food was a delightful array of tasty entrees. The lamb was phenomenal and everything surrounding it made my mouth water over and over. The Seafood cappuccino is a nice twist to boot if you want something different, but delicious. Vincent is always peeking here and there and chances are he will stop by and ask you personally how your meal is and how you are. His charm is undeniable and it's easy to see why so many people are hooked from the first glance inside, not to mention your first bite. Bon Appetit!"" Pros: Romantic, Fabulous Food, Friendly Cons: Street Pkg Impossible, High Traffic at 4-6 more

great Saturday night out 3/9/2003

Had early reservations, which was a good idea in order to avoid the rush. Appetizers were beet carpaccio - excellent combination of goat cheese and beets. Partner's was fresh salad -fine. Entree was braised veal cheeks, which were so tender, one could eat it with a spoon - incredible! Partner's was scallops in a citrus sauce - also very good. Dessert was the 3 creams - not my thing, but tasty, and I had the cheese plate - romano, manchego were a bit pedestrian, but French blue cheese was great. Brie a little spongey. Had a carafe of beaujolais which was perfect. Service was not as ""sophisticated"" as I would think. She was fine but a bit rough around the edges. Reminded me of a college student. Atmosphere is very upscale urban and romantic. Pace was just right - timely but not rushed. Pros: location in downtown, excellent food, atmosphere Cons: price for some, "beautiful people" more

A Wonderful Experience 3/1/2003

Everything from the appetiser(seafood cappucino) to the main entree (great lamb preparation) to the dessert are unforgettable. Service is first class and the ambience is perfect. A very refreshing and romantic place to dine and spend a Saturday evening ! more

Impeccable 2/4/2003

The food was only exceeded by the excellent service. Plus, the window into the kitchen affords a great view of the cute chefs. more

Treasure of the City 1/11/2003

This is truly a gem. I have become a frequent diner at this spot for many reasons. Vincent's food is unbelievably delicious. Having traveled frequently and eaten at some of the best restaurants on the globe I was surprised (but delighted) to find this treasure in Minneapolis. I have only distinctly positive dining experiences at this restaurant!!! I read the review listed before this one & thought they must have confused this establishment with another, perhaps their server was new? I eat out at the best restaurant's in the city about 4 nights per week so am very familiar with the food scene here. This is a truly fabulous find! Pros: heavenly cuisine, charming chef/owner, european ambience Cons: small, very busy on weekends more

Delightful evening 1/3/2003

Despite a slow start requiring us to wait 20 minutes in the bar even though we had a reservation, I was very pleased overall with my Vincent experience. The ambience in wonderful, accurately described as very NYC (but much roomier!) and although service was leisurely, the food and wine was worth the wait. I would definitely go back. Pros: dessert, location Cons: parking more

Desole 12/7/2002

This restaurant at best is mediocre none of the so called classics were impressive at all,the service was ok the setting blend, this is truly an overated restaurant it shows how far we still have to go in our french dinning expertise, there are true french restaurants in town this is not one of them. Pros: Sorry none Cons: Parking more

Secret is in the SAUCE! 10/21/2002

The food is unbelievable. The miracle is in the amazing sauces. Try the seafood cappucino for a delectable spin on seafood. The sauce on the salmon is to die for. This is my favorite Twin City restaurant bar none. more

Little Slice of Heaven/Paris 9/25/2002

Everything about Vincent is first rate. When I called to make the reservation I was asked if it was a special occasion -- yes, it was both my husband's and my birthday. No singing please -- ""We don't sing here"" was the answer. Thank you. Thank you also for the lovely food, fabulous wine list and relaxed yet attentive service. The ""Gourmet Magazine"" worthy presentation only equals the quality of the food and the freshest ingredients. Duck breast, halibut, veal tenderloin & stuffed breast, tuna tartare -- all excellent. A big Merci to the chef. Back to the special occasion -- our fabulous deserts were served on a large platter with Happy Birthday tastefully written in dark chocolate. Thankfully there was also a single candle cemented in dark chocolate. Pros: Presentation, Quality, Romantic more

Real Food, Real Personality 8/2/2002

Vincent is my favorite restaurant by far. I dream about the way he does the scallops, perfectly seared and tender - no one does it better. If you want value eat at the bar - or in the bar - where you can get great homemade pate, real garlicky escargot and fabulous frites while looking at a picture of Vincent's grandmother and father plucking a chicken at their home in SW France! Vincent's personality shines through especially when he visits your table to make sure everything is perfect. This restaurant is a reflection of a chef's personality - one of the best treasures we have in the Twin Cities. Really great food at a tremendous value for the quality. Pros: Bar Menu, Incredible Seafood, Great Service more

Overall Value unequalled in the Twin Cit 7/30/2002

I have eaten at Vincent at least six times since it opened last fall and have been impressed each time with the high quality, creativity and honesty of the cuisine. Each time, I have also been impressed with the desire this restaurant has to improve the dining experience. When there was no valet parking, they got it. Since Christophe has been host, service has improved greatly so that it is now on a par with the food. The overall value for the dining experience is currently unequalled in the Twin Cities. Pros: Honest food, valet parking, great service more
