Rude, dishonest and unresponsive community manager 3/18/2010

Our community uses Talis Management. Our community manager is Bonnie Giles. It took me bugging her for 3 MONTHS to get the color that I was required to paint my front door. I hired a painter, and he painted my door and it turned out the color they gave me was incorrect, not even close. They acknowledged they gave me the wrong color but blamed it on the person that gave it to them. The person that gave it to them informed them approx. 2 weeks before I painted my door to let them know it was incorrect. Bonnie denied knowing for a week and finally sent an email saying she was informed earlier that month. When I requested reimbursement to cover repainting the door, Bonnie started with she didn't know again - Even though she admited it in an email she sent to me the day before. Regardless of this, the management company was the one who gave the wrong information. They should not have gone by the color someone in the neighborhood thought it was. They are paid to handle these types of things. They should reimburse me. Pros: None Cons: Everything more

I would also like to thank you personally for your prompt , courteous responses to my questions and requests currently and in the past. I have owed my townhome for 16 years and feel that since Talis took over the management, the service has been great. more

Talis sux!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 6/15/2009

This is by far the worse company. I cannot believe the incompetence at all levels. No one returns a call or an email but boy can thye send a snail mail about the lawn bing to high or the camper in the yard over night. As a owner I cannot get them to talk to me but they regualarly deal with the renters living next door. Advising them to keep our lax ball that go over. What a crock is that. I am going to start an anti talis website on Face book to try to get rid of them. I need a neagtive rating.\r Pros: Worse possible management in the world Cons: Never retun a call but support renters more

Needs Improvement in handling community affairs!!!!! 4/2/2009

The creativity in the way the homes are situated on each lot. The different landscape elevations when looking out my window reminds me of close knit community sorta like Peyton Place if you remember that television series. The one thing that is very discomforting and needs to be cleaned up is Miller Street in Swanns Mill Subdivision. After all that is the main street representing the overall community. It is very distasteful and people are not following the covenants. Too many strays hanging out in the street, garage doors left up, footbal goals placed in the street. That is one street they really need to wrok extra hard on cleaning up. As a whole I think the Talis Group puts for a very strong effort for such a new community to make it a great place to call home. Pros: addresses concerns timely, great customer service Cons: Beauiful homes - covenants not followed by some more

Talis Is The Best!! 1/29/2009

I live in a neighborhood managed by Talis and am the President of the HOA. You can't get better than Talis. We were managed by CAS prior to switching to Talis. CAS was horrible because they didn't keep up with what was going on in the community, expected the board to do all the work, and ran a very unprofessional meeting. Talis came in and made terrific changes to the neighborhood in less than a year which is amazing considering CAS had made a mess of our community for over two years. Talis is great at following up and making sure the rules are followed. Nobody can even imagine how hard it is to manage a neighborhood unless they have actually held the job themselves. Talis takes direction from the board and has to do what the board advises them to do. Talis does a great job of creating a team environment with their boards. The people bashing Talis below seem to be more upset about the rules and that is the HOA not Talis. My community manager is always prompt to return calls or reply to emails. We value her opinion as she does the boards. She carries out tasks that the board requests with a positive attitude even if she does not agree 100% with the decision the board is making. Again I stress anyone complaining about Talis to really evaluate their anger to see if it is truely Talis or their board they are upset with!!! Talis is hands down a step above all the rest. Pros: Incredible knowledge and ability to get things done!!! Our property manager goes above and beyond at all times!!!! more

Great customer service 1/27/2009

My previous neighborhood (which I still own property in) and current neighborhood are both managed by Talis. When I first bought in my current neighborhood, the HOA was managed by CAS. Because I had dealt with Talis before I was disappointed in the lack of communication and personal touch that CAS had to offer. I feel as a homeowner and owner of an investment property, that I'm always in the loop as far as maintenance and community events are concerned. This allows me ample time to contact my tenant on anything that affects them, but also gives me the opportunity to get involved in neighborhood activities. I trust Talis and feel they are actively involved in each and every community they serve. You don't realize how important a good property management company is until you are exposed to a bad one! In response to the other reviewers, it's ignorant for you to blame Talis for what your Board approves in your neighborhood. Instead of sitting on your butt and complaining, get involved on the Board and learn more about the roles of the HOA vs. the HOA management company. Also Talis's goal isn't to make the homeowners' lives hell. Instead they are there to make sure that all the things you enjoy (such as the pool, clubhouse, landscaping, etc) are preserved so that you may enjoy them year after year. If you don't like living in a regulated neighborhood then move. There are plenty of neighborhoods in the Triangle that do not have a HOA. more

New manager every week 5/18/2008

Talis used to be decent... what happened, I will probably never know. The last year has been awful. You cannot get good service when you have a new account person, new administrator, or new manager every month. I called and was asked by the person assigned to my neighborhood, "Is that neighborhood townhomes or single homes?". The receptionist is rude and puts you through to voicemail after snapping at you. I swear, you can call every person on the list from the automated phone system and they will all be on voicemail. When someone calls you back, it's someone different from the month before. I have asked the board to change as soon as they can, but they have a contract for 2 years! The admin girls who call you back are usually friendly but know nothing- not about the neighborhood or about the things they should know about to do that job. I am very unhappy with them and hope the board will agree to go back to the company we had several years ago. They changed to Talis to save money, Talis then raised prices a lot, and now we don't even have good service. To be fair, in response to one of the other comments, Talis isn't the one fining you- that's your board. Go to your board meetings. Pros: Mostly friendly people Cons: High turnover rate, lack of expertise, high price more

I will never live in a community again!! 5/12/2008

Well I love my neighbors, but Talis is a sub-par management company. I'm being fined $100 per week and Talis won't even call me back from my repeated messages. If you're thinking of using this company....just don't do it. Don't even move into a place that uses them. It's just not worth it. I've gotten sick over their fines and allegations. My husband and I (who own a local business in town and are outstanding residents of our town) have never received such poor service without any way to state our case. Their rules are ridiculous and they find ways to stay in power like having community meetings off-site, not posting meetings, and having a very poor website. I urge all of you to stop using this company. My rating would be negative as well. Good luck!! Cons: Staff members, Accessability, Overall demeanor, Office Hours more
