Ordered a cake, was sloppily done, icing was gritty and too sweet. But that was nothing compared to the horrible customer service! I waited in line for what felt like an hour, only to be ignored! So, I took the advice of the person who said use Specialty Cakes by Nisa. All I have to say is....The Best! The icing was not too sweet or gritty,, and the cake was the most moist and light cake I have ever had! Honestly! I can't thank her enough for making my little one's birthday that much more special! I have referred all my friends and family to her, and I will NEVER go to Lucy's again! Pros: I believe customer service should come first! Cons: They know nothing about it! more

ordered cake w/ marshmellow frosting because tastes better and is lighter than the buttercream. Picked up cake,manager (old man) was about to check box when he said ""excuse me"" and sneezed into his hands then wiped them on his pants. He then reached out to open the box to check the cake. I grabbed it and said I would do it myself, then i got out the money to pay him. I told him to keep the change since i did not want his sneezy hands handing me back the change, and i left without a receipt (didn't want him transfering his germs to me that way either.) In the afternoon we cut the cake and frosting was pure sugar, it was gritty and extremely sweet, unable to eat it. I called the store and manager said the frosting is made with cooked sugar but should not be gritty and that he would have to see the cake. I told him that it had already been cut up and he said ""so you ARE eating the cake?"" I said yes but that we would have to throw out the icing, and we paid some good money because the marshmellow frosting is extra. He said i would have to save a piece and keep it refrigerated and then take it back to him ""so i can see what i am working with before i give you a discount on the next cake"". yeah right, like I am going to do that! Even Bill Millers takes your word over the phone if they have messed up and will tell you to come back to get a whole new meal. I think the service at Lucys sucks. I have ordered at least 6 cakes in the last few months for birthdays and a baby shower, only because the cake IS good and tastes better than HEB, even though the girls that work there have very poor people skills. But I think i will stick to HEB because at least there they will kiss your feet to get your business. I will not be ordering from Lucys anymore, especially if they treat you like crap and have poor hygiene skills. Maybe they'll sneeze on my cake if i go and complain. Every time I go there, EVERYONE is very rude! Especially the owner. They don't care at all about their customers! I will never use them again! Try this lady instead:\r Specialty cakes by Nisa.\r She makes every cake special and delicious! We use her every time we need a cake! when looking for a wedding cake, i was told about lucys. i called to schedule a tasting and asked if they made italian creme i was told it had to be special ordered to be tasted. i special ordered over the phone. the day of the tastiing not only did they not make the italian creme they snapped at me saying i shouldve specialed ordered it. i told them i had, not only was the customer service very bad, they dont follow instructions. we ended up ordering their signature yellow cake with strawberry filling for our wedding. definitely did not live up to all the hype.it was pretty and arrived on time. thats the best thing i can say about my experience. I have been calling a few cake shops to get a rough estimate of how much a wedding cake would cost. Every other place I spoke to answered all my questions readily and politely. Then, I called and spoke with Monica and she was very rude. All I asked for at first was the price (just an estimate, not a quote) and then how much the delivery cost would be. Every question was answered rudely and as if they could care less if I ordered a cake. \r \r To be clear, I did not order a cake, I just spoke over the phone with someone. I think its pathetic how they treat a possible customer, especially since my questions were not complicated. I thought maybe they were busy or the woman was having a bad day but after reading the other reviews I'm convinced this is a horrible place to do business. \r \r If this is how they treat simple questions, I can't even imagine what would happen if I had to deal with them further. Used to LOVE the cakes fromhere, tasted great, pretty. Then I ordered my mothers wedding shower cake in white with pink roses, nothing complicated. The entire cake was dotted with blue dye when I picked it up. As the shower was that day had no choice but to take the cake. As we cut and served the cake we saw the entire bottom of the cake had the same blue dye streaked through it. Her white cake was blue striped on the bottom. Didn't really affect the taste I guess, but it looked awful. Apparently the coloring was spilled while making the cake and they didn't think anyone would notice ( or care about) the bottom (and therefore the middle) of the cake being blue. When I called the owner on Monday to complain I was given the chance to come in to their shop across town to get 6 free cupcakes for my trouble. WOW!! The manager was the first person I complained to and she did not believe me that my white cake was blue, fortunately I had taken pictures because it was so odd. When I showed them to her she had no response, no appology, no nothing! She told me I could call the manager at the other shop (across town) but didn't really care about my problem. i had gotten a cake at lucy's for my daughter's second birthday (four years ago) and i wasn't thrilled. it was a white with strawberry creme seseme street cake. although it looked cute, it tasted like play dough. i didn't go back until recently when i was planning my wedding. lucy's was apart of the package the venue offered. as i looked through their portfollio all i saw was 80's/90's style cakes. when i asked the worker if they could do something unique ( like today's style cakes) she got offended. although they weren't original....the wedding and groom cakes looked nice and were good tasting. i then ordered a anniversary cake for my in laws as asked them to recreate their cake. it came out looking similar and taste good. i ordered a under the sea cake for my daughter from a picture they had ....that came out good BUT when i ordered a GARDEN cake for my daughter's sixth birthday i swore to NEVER go back again!!!! I told the lady i wanted a garden cake for my daughter who was with me when i ordered it. i asked if they had any simular pictures to look at. she said NO. however, i placed the order. the day before the party lucy's called and talked to my husband. they asked him if it was a vegetable garden or a flower garden. my husband stated ""A flower garden for my daughter's 6th birthday"" so... when we went to pick the cake up i expected lot's of flowers butterflies, ladybugs. NO, I GOT A CAKE WITH A SIDE WALK AND SMALL RED FLOWERS ALONG IT!!! THE UGLIEST CAKE EVER!!! so i complained i told them i was upset because my daughter was having a garden party which was pink and green.i told them what i expected and what i got. all the lady could tell me was that I COULD PURCHASE PLASTIC ITEMS TO TRY AND DRESS IT UP!!! excuse me but, what kind of (you know what) is that? I invite anyone looking for great artwork and fresh tasting cake to order from Lucy's Cake Shop. In the last 3 months, I have ordered 3 cakes from them over the phone - YES, I put 100% trust in their final designs. They have exceeded my expectations every time. For example, our Fiesta themed cake was full of vibrant colors (Ole'!) and our cake with a Tiara drawn on it was so pretty. It's makes me feel good when our guests rave about how beautiful the cakes are and then cannot believe how good they taste as well. A great product at a great price! I have special-ordered cakes from a few makers in town and Lucy's is, hands down, my absolute favorite. Their customer service was great, they were very patient when I was deciding on my cake decorations (first birthday cakes for my boy/girl twins) and they put up with my cranky kids, too!\r I only waited about one minute on pick up day and let me just say that I was blown away by their beauty!! I have had ""cute"" cakes plenty of times that tasted like dry playdough, but Lucy's were moist, flavorful and everyone at the party was impressed. Went to buy cake for my parents 50th anniversary. I had already purchased a cake top somewhere else. When the cake was ordered I was told I could bring the top when I paid the balance, so I did. I kept telling the girl here is the top. Called to set up time for delivery, after asking me a few questions, he said he would deliver the cake between 4 and 5. I asked him if he knew what time between 4 and 5 so I could make sure someone was there. He said no one had to be there, he delivered there all the time, all I needed to do was mark the table where I wanted the cake. MAKE SURE SOMEONE IS THERE TO RECEIVE THE CAKE!!!!!! As I'm pulling up to the door to drop off my parents my brother calls and asks ""don't we have a cake top?"" Of course they are already closed so there is no answer when I call. Instead of greeting our guests I'm going to WalMart in the rain to try and find something, they didn't have anything, so we took apart a flower arangement and ended up with silk flowers on top. Went there on Monday was told the owner would call me. Today is Wednesday, still no phone call. Pros: cake taste great, whip cream icing available Cons: not exactly what I ordered more

I have been using Lucy's Cake Shops before my grandchildren were born and they are now teenagers. I always get compliments from people that attend their parties. Even for my son's 34th birthday I took them a picture of him at his favorite sport (he on his boat fishing) and they made it look so real on the cake. For my brother's wedding I also had them bake the wedding cake. As it turns out on the day of the wedding we had ice in San Antonio and no one could get around the city. Well the cake got there before the wedding and everyone liked it and enjoyed it. Our office has ordered cakes from Lucy's and never been disappointed. \r \r Highly recommended!!!! more

I for one am proud of the products and customer relations that I have received from Lucy's Cake Shop in the past 6 years. Every occasion from Birthday's to Anniversary's to Company Parties the cakes have always exceeded our expectations. In today's need to save money and for the convience you would think the prices would be greater than what they are. My hat's off to you and your crew for making all of my Special Occasions.... We have been purchasing cakes from Lucy's cake shop for birthdays and special occassions for over 20 years w/o any problems. However recently we purchased a Wedding Cake/Grooms Cake and were very disappointed. For such an occassion you'd think service could be as good or better than times past, but it wasnt the presentation was poor, and not what would be expected. And when the issues we felt to be unexceptable were addressed, the treatment we recieved from the employees and manager of Lucys was very hostile. Maybe such an event is too much for Lucy's Cake Shop. I recommend Lucy's for a birthday cake, however I would consider other options for events such as a Wedding. Pros: can handle meeting expectations for a birthday cake. Cons: when expectations are high such as a wedding they flop. more

Absolutely the worst customer service and product I have ever had. Ordered cake for wedding confirmed delivery time at least 5 seperate times. Cake showed up over 3 hours late and this after having to call where the owner threatened to not even deliver the cake at all. Then cake showed up finally, looked terriable and wasnt even squared. The cake was on a board covered with paper that didnt even match. When called to get answers and a fix to the problem, they just became angry and hung up on us. Do yourself a favor and save the headaches. Dont ever order from them. EVER Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything about this place more

Recently got a 1/4 sheet cake. They said it would cost $17.00 plus $10.00 for extra icing ($27.00). Went to pick up the cake and saw that the man next to me got a 1/2 sheet cake with lots of icing and some extra plastic toys on the cake for $25.00. My cake had less icing than any other I had ordered from them. It had no roses only had white icing with an orange silouette of a longhorn drawn freehanded in the middle. Had the words ""Goodbye Sara, we will miss you"". That is what I paid extra icing for? The cake was also lopsided. Could not return cake needed it for a party that night. Have order many cakes from them for all my occasions. Will not order any more cakes because they tried to take advantage of me by charging me way too much!!!!
