I took my dog to kennelwood at page/lindbergh. He was perfectly healthy when I dropped him off. I picked him up a few days later. His bark was high pitched and he kept coughing. I was told by the manager that this was 'normal' , touting that his voice was high because he had been barking at the other dogs and lost his 'voice'. I didn't buy it. went to the vet where he was diagnosed with Kennel Cough. After talking to kennelwood about said problem, the only thing they would do for me was to refund half of his stay. I'm sorry, but my dog was fine and then stays with kennelwood and gets sick. I think they should do better than that. At least pay for the vet bill. All in all, not happy with kennelwood, or the way they handled the situation. won't go there again! more

Denise at Kennelwood did a wonderful job of grooming my 5 Yorkies. I would recommend them to anyone who wants a full service pet resort, grooming, boarding, day care and training. They have many locations to choose from too. So check them out, you will glad you did.\r Check their web page for money saving coupons, and a great newsletter every month, always something fun going on at Kennelwood Pet Resort. more

Our 2 great danes were boarded over Thanksgiving and were left in their ""room"" the whole day and evening without being taken out to go to the bathroom. I will never take them there again. more

My dog has been attending Kennelwood day camp for over 4 years. I also use the boarding services when I go out of town. My dog loves the Kennelwood staff. They also know him well and treat him as if he was their own pet. My dog runs to the front doors every time which tells me he enjoys going there. I think he says it all. more

When I dropped off my dog, I was quoted $50 for the shampoo that is 'soothing' to my dog's skin & makes his coat nice and soft--not sure why I should have to pay extra for that but I agreed. When I picked him up, I presented a $5.00 coupon which should have been $45.00. But it cost me $46.00 and some change cause my dog wouldn't let them clip his nails so I didn't qualify for the 'bundle' price. Really? I didn't get what I dropped him off for and I paid more too....all for just $1.00 and some change? Now I'm looking for someplace else for my grooming needs. I had 2 dogs that I took there for grooming and one took obedience training. Hope that $1.00 and change was worth it. When I explained to the gal about not getting what I dropped him off for and owed more than if they had clipped his nails. She said I had to pay that price because I didn't qualify for the 'bundle' price! Maybe if we would have just 'pretended' that we clipped his nails and I'd be happy to pay for it in the ' more

They are so good with my dogs. One of the reasons I continue to take them back is one of my dogs got loose. A neighbor found him and he still had his Kennelwood collar on. They tried to call me but I didn't hear the phone. They came into the city picked him up and called again. I still didn't hear the phone so by the time I got the message they had him about an hour. They never charged me a dime. This is how you build a good reputation. \r \r Once when I was boarding them and grooming them they were running about a hour late. They called and let me know which was great. I could take more time getting back to St. Louis. Thanks Kennelwood. more

I cannot say enough good things about the staff at Kennelwood. My dog Izzy and I have used the daycamp (which she loves) grooming, and the trainers. Everything has been great. You can tell how much my dog enjoys it, by how excited she gets when we get there. We are very greatful for the efforts of the staff at Kennenwood, and highly recommend it. Woof woof! more

Do Not Board Here! 8/6/2014

My dog recently suffered a severe allergic reaction while in the care of Kennelwood at Page and Lindbergh. I signed my dog up for a service that the site says includes "24-hour continuous care and housekeeping services." However, for THREE days, not ONE employee at this facility noticed that my dog was in agony. My poor dog scratched himself red and raw for days. That is unacceptable. If I were contacted by an employee at the boarding facility, an intervention could've been made, and my dog could've been spared some of his agony. \r \r As if the lack of care wasn't bad enough, I called the Page and Lindbergh location for any details about my dog's stay. I was told that the system was down and I would be contacted as soon as it was running again. I still haven't been called. \r \r I am so disappointed in the quality of care at Page and Lindbergh. If this experience is any indication of the services provided here, this "resort" should be closed. more

Great with my nervous dog 4/8/2014

Just had my dog groomed. He's a Golden that I got from a shelter and has always had issues letting anyone mess with his feet. Brought him to Kennelwood off Page Ave for a bath and trim. His trim was beautifully done and I was amazed they were able to cut/file his nails. He never lets anyone mess with his feet and it takes a team at the vet. I am supremely impressed!! more

My friend was dropping her dog off because we were headed out if state for a trip. I noticed many things about this place one being that the service is horrible. (I looked at all the name tags so I could accurately write this review). Before my friend went up to the desk, I heard two girls laughing at the lady who was walking out. I heard the girl with the mohawk talk about the lady's walk. Did I forget to mention that the lady was elderly? The mohawk girl and her friend (I just remember that her name started with a C) were laughing so hard that when we it was our turn to be waited on that we couldn't understand anything that mohawk was saying. While my friend was talking to the ""customer service"" a girl named Jessica came to put a tag around my friend's dog's neck. When she put the tag on, it was obviously too tight, but she didn't notice. So i tried to loosen it and it wouldn't. Lucky another lady (she had long braids) cut the tag off and made him another one. And I guess she saw how upset we were with the customer service, and she apologized. I thought this was very nice because she didn't have anything to do with the rudeness. Then the girl Jessica took him back and we didn't even get to say goodbye. Overall, I think that the service needs to be at a moderate rate. The girl talked too fast and we had to ask her to slow down and repeat. The place was beautiful and even despite the horrible customer service, we felt comfortable leaving our dog there because of the little fact that the lady saw that the tag was too tight and made him a new one. more

Great place for my pet 7/16/2013

GREAT! My concerns over how Murphy would react to the staff were eased greatly by the care each member listened to my interpretation of how he reacts to strangers. The staff assured me that they would be gentle, slow, and caring with him. He came home with an A+ on his report card. Page Kennelwood Groomers went above and beyond my expectations.. more

Great Customer Service Given! 5/21/2013

Before bringing my babies to Kennelwood that day, I decided to look at reviews. As I was reading some I was a little put off by the comments because of horrible customer service. I was talking to my husband about it on the way there (I know a little late, HA!) and he said dont worry it may not be as bad as you think so I agreed! We got there and WOW not at all what I read! They greeted us at the door there were a lot of dogs being dropped off that day and they didnt seem frazzled in the least. They greeted everyone so warmly. My male actually got sick right as I was pulling in and I mentioned it and here comes a woman with a new roll of paper towels and clorox wipes. I couldn't believe that! We left and I said to my husband Wow that was not anything like the comments. He said something so true to me that if the person on the receiving end meaning the customer was mean and not friendly it rubs off on the business. So if you are nice and polite like we are then you will get what is given more

I had been going to kennelwood for 20 5/7/2013

I had been going to kennelwood for 20 years. not anymore their staff is inexperienced and no knowledge of dog care . i have a new puppy and called several times before making sure they knew his age .He was to start day camp while i work. 3 days b4 we start they said cannot take him he is too young for vaccinations. All the people i spoke to did not know this vet said common knowledge that bordetello cannot be given until 10 weeks . Maybe the best If they did not know this the 3 times I spoke to them that means their staff is not trained or qualified. I can't imagine what they would do with a serious health emergency more

After much thought about getting a new puppy, I contacted Patty the Petmatchmaker at Kennelwood upon the advice of my veterinarian. What a gem she is. We talked both through e-mail and also on the phone. I told her I was looking for a female shih tzu puppy and she immediately sent me the names of several reputable breeders in our area. I contacted several of them, but only received a response from one. I was told of several shih tzus they had and also one they were considerating to put up for adoption, but hadn't quite decided if they were keeping her or not. I kept looking, contacted Patty again, explained I really hadn't had any luck with the names she gave me. She then sent me a list of several more possibilities. She was very willing to listen to my frustrations about not finding a puppy yet. \r \r Then, I checked the web site of the breeder I contacted in the beginning and there she was, the puppy I was searching for. Her name is Laci, she is 5 months old, champagne colored and a-dor-a-ble (as my 4-1/2 yr old granddaughter would say).\r \r Anyway Laci has only been in her forever home for 4 days but it seems like she has managed to settle in very well.\r \r Thanks Patty for your help Without you I would not have my a-dor-a-ble puppy. more

DO NOT BOARD HERE 4/2/2013

Level of customer service is awful! I will not board my dogs here again. I called to check on them and they had no idea who my pets were and instead read care notes from a computer. I think they need to scale down and focus on the importance of pet boarding. Instead they are trying to see how many animals they can get under their roof at one time. This was our first and last time at Kennelwood. more

My Dog Loves Kennelwood 4/2/2013

I've used Kennelwood multiple times to board my dog. I've provided all her food on some occassions and on others had them use their own food. I've also used the day camp and grooming services on many more occasions. My dog loves going to Kennelwood no matter which service she is going for. As soon as she sees the Quick Trip on Lindbergh before the turn off to Kratky, she starts yipping and wagging her tail a mile a minute. She flies out of the car as soon as I open the door and drags me to the front door. She's an "only dog" and loves going to day camp to play with the other dogs and then get a bath afterwards before I pick her up. She always comes home worn out, but happy. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 3/27/2013

We are very disappointed with our first (and last) experience with Kennelwood and their boarding facilities. We recently moved to the area and were leaving to see family for Passover out of state. After searching online, I felt Kennelwood was the best option for our two dogs. I spoke to an Amanda when booking who was very helpful. I dropped the dogs off later that afternoon. Upon arriving, I was never greeted by anyone at the front desk other than a Jasmine who coldy asked what I was there for (as I am holding my two dogs by the leash). I never received a warm impression by any of the multiple employees walking around the lobby. Unfortunately we were leaving the next morning or I would have left with my dogs in tow on the spot based on the customer service this place clearly lacked. \r \r I asked to see the boarding facilities where my dogs would be staying since it was my first time. Reluctantly I was shown. Simple runs which did not completely surprise me but they promised my dogs would have a blanket at night since I was told I was not allowed to bring their bedding or toys. I left praying my dogs would be okay when I saw them 4 days later. \r \r I called the following afternoon to check on the pups. I was transferred by the front desk to the kennel. I sat on hold for 7 minutes before I hung up and called back. The same girl told me she would transfer again. I explained no one came to the phone from the kennel. Finally a Courtney picked up and asked who I was and what I was calling about. I told her again that I was checking to see how the dogs were doing. She had NO idea who my dogs were and instead of checking on them in person, she looked in a computer and read notes back to me!! Unbelievable. \r \r I have never boarded my dogs at a facility that did not personally know who they had in their care. At pick up, my dogs were covered in urine and feces. I have read the reviews here and it seems this facility is known for its training and grooming and NOT it's boarding. I WARN anyone who is considering boarding their pets here. \r \r I was a veterinary technician for 11 years including private practice, academia, and management of two animal hospitals. In some cases, the practices were equipped to board pets so I am fully aware of how a boarding facility should run. This is not it. Unfortunately my fiancé and I are new to St Louis and did not know any better. NEVER AGAIN! more
