Best

I cannot say enough good things about the staff at Kennelwood. My dog Izzy and I have used the daycamp (which she loves) grooming, and the trainers. Everything has been great. ...

Worst

When I dropped off my dog, I was quoted $50 for the shampoo that is 'soothing' to my dog's skin & makes his coat nice and soft--not sure why I should have to pay extra for that bu...

KENNEL(COUGH)WOOD 8/19/2010

My dog was up to date on his Bordatella vaccine when we took him to board at Kennelwood, but he STILL got kennel cough. We had to take him to the vet to get treatment, but Kennelwood didn't seem too concerned or surprised when we called to complain. \r \r The customer in front of me the day we checked in didn't even have the vaccine and they let her check her dog in anyway on the grounds that they would transport her dog to the vet that day to get the Bordatella vaccine. It's not even effective until 2 days after the vaccine, but they let it slide. No wonder the place is a disease factory!!! Kennelwood doesn't care about your pet, they want your money!!! Even if it means knowingly putting your pet at risk. more

Response to ""Not ok"" Review 6/25/2010

I just wanted to say that I don't personally know anything about your experience here. But after reading your review, you seem to be a little misinformed about the source of your puppy's roundworms. I am a Veterinary Technician Student and I know that the prepatent period for roundworms is about 3-4 weeks. Which means that the time between your puppy's infection to when he/she would start shedding worms or eggs in the feces would be 3-4 weeks. Therefore it is impossible that your baby got roundworms from visiting the groomer for one day and be shedding worms the next. Furthermore, 90% of puppies will have roundworms. It is fairly common. They get them from the mother actually. It is passed through the placenta and through the mother's milk. I think that you unfairly accused kennelwood of ""giving"" your baby roundworms and you should probably remove that part from your review... more

See for yourself - Doggie Day Camp 8/11/2009

I used to work here. See Doggie Day Camp for yourself. To watch what goes on, take Page and turn on RUCKERT RD (it's only on one side of Page.) Doggie Day Camp is on your left and there is a small gravel parking lot. You can see Doggie Day Camp for the large dogs from the road. Or just pull into the parking lot. For photos of how dogs are treated at KW, go to zootoo dot com and search for Kennelwood. These are photos taken by another former employee. When you take a tour, you will only see 1 of 3 dog areas that the dogs are housed in. They will tell you that they cannot take you to see the other dog areas for liability reasons. This makes no sense as there are just as many dogs walking around by the dog area they show you as there are by the other dog area. If you saw the other dog areas, you would see dilapidated kennels that I believe have not be updated since the place opened in 1974. Only the dog area they show you has been updated. This place reminded me of a bad nursing home where there are patients screaming out for help constantly and no one cares or does anything about it. I couldn't stand being in the dog areas. It was truly emotionally traumatic working there. I'm so glad I am no longer there, but I feel horrible about what most dogs go through that stay there overnight. Again, please see for yourself before you board your dog or send him/her to Doggie Day Camp. Pros: Small Dog Grooming Cons: Poor Management, Neglect, Incompetence more

Kennelwood Boarding 6/26/2009

Workers at Kennelwood are pleasant but my dog lost weight, no water in bowl when I picked him up, he was filthy when picked up, his bed was dirty. Will never use Kennelwood again! more

Not ok 5/22/2009

I took my 5 month old puppy to get groomed at this Kennelwood a couple months ago. He was young and is non-shedding anyway so he just needed a bath, nail trim and ear cleaning. I called first, gave all my info and got a price quote - something like $25. Pros: Ummmmm... Cons: Wormssssss more

Purrrrrfect 1/23/2009

I usually leave my cat at home when we leave town. A friend usually stops by to check on her. However, at my last vacation my friend was unavailable. We toured many places and nothing compared to the type of accommodations that Kennelwood has to offer for the cats! My cat had her very own fish aquarium in the walls of her CONDO. Yes, I did say Condo. It was four different levels and her litter box was behind what they called a ""privacy panel."" The place smelled great and was very clean. more

Kennelwood and Bobby 12/4/2008

I boarded my dog Bobby for the first time over Thanksgiving. We toured many places and were not really happy with any of them until we found Kennelwood. My husband and I could not believe how clean the place was. Not one time did a ever smell the "typical" kennel smell. The girl that gave us a tour was very friendly and answered our questions very thoroughly. She even gave us a free toy to take home to Bobby. We dropped Bobby off the day before Thanksgiving. I was really worried about leaving him for the first time but felt much better after we signed him up for day camp. Kennelwood even gave him a free turkey treat on Thanksgiving. My husband said that he was going to have it better at the kennel than he would at home. We picked Bobby up on Saturday and he was so clean! We signed him up to have a bath before we picked him up. He smelled so good that my husband even let him sleep in out bed that night. They gave us a report card that told us how he did at day camp and during his bath. I more

Kennelwood Pet Resorts 12/4/2008

My experience with Kennelwood has been a very positive one. Kennelwood has a very convenient pick-up/delivery service where they come to my home to pick-up my dog, Poncho. Poncho will spend the day at Kennelwood getting pampered in the spa and then he will play with his friends at DayCamp. When Poncho returns home he is very handsome, smells wonderful, and he is completely exhausted. At the end of the day I am very happy as I know that my dog has enjoyed a day of pampering and fun. \r \r When I have to leave town, I know that I can leave my dog, Poncho at Kennelwood. I know that he will be left in very good hands. The staff at Kennelwood is extremely professional, caring, committed to their pets, and highly experienced. Poncho has so much fun during his stays at Kennelwood. He has made many human and doggie friends at Kennelwood. more

Awesome place to take your mut! 12/4/2008

My boyfriend and I adopted a 4 month old lab mix. We tried to leave him home alone all day while we were at work but he started chewing on the furniture and going to the bathroom on the rugs. A co-worker of mine mentioned kennelwood's day camp program. We toured the place and decided to try it. Best decision ever! Our puppy absolutely loves it!! I went to Kennelwood on my lunch hour and watched him play at camp. He was running around like a crazy man. The kennelwood workers that were supervising camp were playing fetch with him and a few other dogs. Some workers were sitting on the ground petting more of the layed back dogs. My puppy comes home and all he wants to do is sleep. He seems so much more happy now that he goes to Kennelwood. (My boyfriend and I are too!) more

Best All Service Pet Hotel in St. Louis 12/4/2008

I have been going to Kennelwood Pet Resorts for almost 10 years and I highly reccomend all of their services. Currently, my dogs participate in DayCamp on a weekly basis and they visit the spa approximately every three weeks to get beautiful and pampered. My dogs love DayCamp because they get the chance to play with their regular DayCamper friends. I also love DayCamp because when my kids return home they are exhausted. I have put my three dogs through the Kennelwood board and train program and I have also participated in group classes. I believe in the training programs that Kennelwood offers as I have three well behaved and obedient dogs. Kennelwood has been great to me and my dogs. We are very happy to have such a wonderful all service pet hotel in St. Louis! more

Kennelwood Pet Resorts: The Best Place for Your Pet to be Pampered! 9/8/2008

I am so happy that I have found Kennelwood Pet Resorts. I have a dog that requires a lot of exercise and as I have to work everyday, I do not have the ability to see that my dog gets the exercise he needs. With Kennelwood, I can drop my dog off everyday to DayCamp, occasionally have him groomed, and know that my dog is receiving the best pet pampering and care St. Louis has to offer. I also know that when I have to leave for a business trip that Kennelwood and their staff will take the best care of my pooch. I highly recommend Kennelwood! more

Never Again! 8/11/2008

I just picked my dog up from his third visit to Kennelwood in as many years. This will be his last visit. Each time I have gone to pick up my dog I have left angry or upset. The staff is not very friendly, if not down right rude. The last time I boarded my dog there he came home with raw open skin down the back sides of both of his front legs. They took me inside to get him from his ""Suite"", and there was no bed in his room (which I was paying extra money for) and his pillow (which I had brought from home) was covered in urine. He had not been outside at all that morning, and it was easily 9am by that point (they open at 7am). They told me that he wasn't using the bed so they took it out so he could have extra room. I didn't buy it. Pros: There aren't a lot of other options out there Cons: They are terrible more

Not happy AT ALL - DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG THERE 7/7/2008

When we dropped off our dog ( a gentle giant and very sweet, but happy and wiggly sometimes) it all seemed like a great place. We also were told by friends it's a nice place, but that's only on the outside. We boarded our dog for only 2 nights and when we picked him up we've noticed a raw sore on his back paw and the other one was close to the same, but not quite as bad. I went back inside and asked, but apparently nothing they knew of..whatsoever. They said right away if it needs to be treated they'll pay for it and I thought it was quite interesting they just said that as if it's no big deal. The manager didn't show any symphathy AT ALL for it. Also, his bottom teeth were covered in some dark brown goo which I only remember him having after he has been knocked out for his neuter. He was very thirsty AND HUNGRY (he never eats in the car, but he just gobbled down his food I offered him). When we got home he had to potty like a waterfall and his stool was rock hard like when he holds it for quite a while (more than a day). I don't know how they treated my dog, but I will surely NEVER go there again and would not recommend it at all! He's just laying around at home and doesn't seem as happy anymore which really upsets me, but we'll surely get him back to normal with lots of TLC which was obvioulsy missing at that place. And if an employee in one of the reviews before even says things like that..it's SAD!!! more

Not sure about this place 6/7/2008

I have boarded my 2 dogs here 3 times and each time the staff was less than friendly. Everytime I picked my dogs up, they had to run to the grass to relieve themselves, as if they hadnt been out in hours. The place seems clean and its very big I just dont feel they deliver all you pay for. Ive never seen them with dogs out in the play areas for the extra play time you pay for, Im looking for another place. Pros: Big facility Cons: unfriendly staff, expensive more

Misinformed/Unprofessional 5/28/2008

i recently was in St. Louis on vacation with my 2 dogs. I had never boarded them before so I was not aware of all of the requirements to do so. I had made reservations ahead of time with Kennelwood for my dogs to stay the day their as I went around to see the sights of St.. Louis. Since this was my first time, I had a lot of concerns and had called Kennelwood 2 times to make sure all the arrangements were okay. Both times I was told that all I needed to bring with me was proof of current vaccinations. The day came for me to drop them off and I was not able to leave them there because the staff that I had made arrangements with in advance NEVER informed me ( a first time customer FROM OUT OF TOWN) that besides the normal vaccinations my dogs also needed a special vaccination called bordetella that dogs usually only got when they are being boarded. My plans were completely ruined and I had to go home because I had no place for my dogs to stay for the day. NO ONE ever infromed me of this special vaccination. I don't think the time to inform customers of such a thing is when they are checking in. They should have informed me EITHER ON THIER WEBSITE OR ATLEAST IN ONE OF THE 2 CALLS I HAD MADE TO MAKE SURE THE BOARDING WOULD GO SMOOTHLY. The reason why I called both times was to make sure what happened DIDNT HAPPEN! VERY UNPROFESSIONALLY RAN ORGANIZATION Pros: Appeared clean Cons: Unprofessional more

Quality service my dog loves!!! 11/27/2007

I have been bringing my dog to Kennelwood since I got her in 2003. She has been through puppy obedience classes, worked with a day trainer and enjoys going to camp everyday. When I take her in the mornings she is excited to get out of the car often snubbing me for the excitement she is about to enjoy. The workers have always been friendly, know most dogs by name and are quick to get you what you need. I have taken my dog to a few other kennels, but the cost at Kennelwood and the love provided makes it a no brainer. Pros: Loving staff, flexible with owners needs, clean Cons: Can be pricey, but is well worth it more

AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10/28/2007

Don't bring your pets to Kennelwood. They care more about your money than your pet. For example, a bunch of dogs were recently FORGOTTEN about for more than 24 hours while boarding here. If the staff hadn't argued about it the managers were going to send them home covered in urine and feces. We talked them into letting us clean the dogs up but they still charged the people full price and didn't tell them their dogs weren't fed or cared for at all for over a day. This stuff is pretty normal here. All Kennelwood cares about is your money, not your pet or their staff. Trust, Committment, and Loving Care, is supposed to be our motto but even the employees don't trust this company. The committment is to the higher ups getting rich, and the Loving Care part is just B.S. Your dogs and cats are better off somewhere smaller, that puts your pets ahead of profits. This is the fast food joint of pet care. Pros: convenient Cons: expensive, don't get what you pay for, too busy to give good care more

Fun, High Quality Care for Pets While on Vacation 11/10/2005

When we had to find a place to board our three cats while we went on vacation, I didn't look any further than Kennelwood Village after talking to the staff and touring the facility. They provide a fun and safe atmosphere for your pet at all times. I think my cats had a better vacation than I did! They have condos for the animals and some of the dog rooms I saw even had televisions in them to keep the animals entertained! They offer a reasonable price for excellent care and when we have to leave for an extended period of time, I'll definitely take my animals back to Kennelwood. I had no qualms about them and felt confident that they would care for our animals the way we would. more
