Love it! Our dogs go every 2 weeks for grooming and they are always jumping to get out the door and go see their groomers. We just returned from a 8 day vacation and were extremely happy with the boarding. The dogs love DayCamp and seeing all of their other dog friends. Staff is very friendly too. more

DO NOT take any of your pets to Kennelwood. I just took my dog there for boarding and I received a phone call less than twelve hours after dropping him off that he had died!! He was a perfectly healthy dog and they say they don't know what could have happened. I wish I would have read these reviews before I chose this place. more

I used this place for boarding and it was horrible. I paid close to 100 dollars per day and they couldn't tell me for sure if they fed my dogs the first night that they were there. They also came home with unopened food that I had packed for them. Again the staff couldn't explain this. If they are confused/forgetting to feed my dogs then there is other stuff that they are forgetting. Their training might be good but boarding is the worst! more

This place is horrible for boarding. I took my dogs there for 5 days and they told me they didn't know if they fed my dogs the first night! Then they came home with unopened food and the staff couldn't explain to me why they had not been fed all their meals.... if they could forget to feed my dogs, then I'm sure there is other stuff they are forgetting. I was soo mad since I paid about 500 dollars and my dogs are really my kids. more

My dog's stay at Kennelwood resulted in INJURY. I recently had my dog boarded at this Kennelwood location for 9 days. On the second morning of our vacation we received a phone call stating that my dog had torn open his paw pad on something sharp inside his kennel and needed to be taken to the vet ASAP for stitches. When I called the vet I was told that the injury was ""pretty bad"" and that my dog would HAVE to have stitches and be fully anesthetized to do so because of the location. My dog also had to be taken a second time to the vet for a bandage change. Kennelwood did move my dog up to a better kennel and paid for the vet fees, but then charged ME the $2/day to give my dog the medication the vet prescribed due to the injury he received due to Kennelwood's negligence. Once my dog was dropped back off at my house, there was also no more correspondence regarding what additional information the vet gave regarding the next steps to be taken due to the injury, nor any inclination of whether or not Kennelwood would pay for any additional required vet visits or treatments. I live out of state and my husband has no car and cannot drive, so there would also be additional costs out of our pocket to find someone to help us take our dog to the vet for any additional treatment. I am glad that Kennelwood picked up the vet tab, but think they should have gone further with the customer service and assisting us with all aspects of the injury since it wouldn't have occurred in the first place if they had inspected their kennels properly before my dog was placed in there. more

I have taken both of my dogs to Dave van Garderen at Kennelwood for training starting when they were four months old. I have found Dave to be both professional and caring for my dogs and my training desires for them. Both of my dogs are very large and I wanted them to be trained to be well behaved and to walk with me without pulling me. Not only did Dave train my dogs, and me, how to walk nicely together, he also trained my older dog to compete in Rally Obedience and to become a therapy dog. Therapy dog work is something that my older dog and I love to do together and I am so proud of how well behaved he is during these visits. When I take my dogs out in public, I get many compliments on how well mannered they are and that is something that I could not have accomplished without Dave's training. I have referred my daughter and many of my friends to Dave for training their dogs and they have all been very well pleased with the results of the training and with Dave's very professional man more

We have used Kennelwood for Dog training for many years now and we prove our loyalty by driving almost 100 miles every week to be part of Dave's dog training class! Not only does he help train my sons service dog but he also played a huge role in the rescue and rehab of our Shilo Shepherd Angus. Without Dave's passion for dogs and expertise in training we would have not been able to keep our animals. The transformation of the animals is amazing and we never get tired of seeing how much the dogs love working for him. Don't waist your time and money by going anywhere else but Kennelwood and ask for Dave! He is a true inspiration and someone we highly respect. more

After the passing of our senior dog a couple of years ago, my husband & I decided to adopt/rescue another dog. Since we had watched just about every episode of the ?Dog Whisper?, it was decided to have the new dog professionally trained. We had used Kennelwood Pet Resorts at Lindbergh & Page for boarding & grooming in the past & it made sense to start there with our training needs. We were referred to Dave van Garderen & we were pleasantly pleased to see his desk was the one filled with trophies that we had admired on our past visits! Not only did Dave train our dog for basic obedience but also gave us a view into a dogs world/life that we had not thought of before. He displaced endless patience & knowledge about dogs with us & to our dog. It became very clear that not only is Dave knowledgeable about dogs but very passionate about the dog?s well-being, it is no secret that a trained dog is a happy dog! We have a perfectly well behaved dog that is quite fun to live with & sometimes to show off as we go for walks & to the local pet supply store, etc. Since then we have adopted another dog & there was NO question in our minds who to go to for training. We have referred Dave to two other family members & many friends who also love living with their well-behaved family member! Took my 3 dogs there for boarding while I was on vacation. They were there for over a week and everything was fine when I picked them up. One of my dogs had been there several years ago for day camp and as soon as I mentioned ""camp"" to him he started to go crazy with excitement. I would definitely recommend this facility for boarding needs. more

I have been using Kennelwood since moving to St. Louis and I am happy to share my experience of Kennelwood online. I got a little Westie early spring 2011. His first experience was their wonderful (and free) puppy playtime and puppy grooming. He was one of the first puppies to enjoy their newly constructed play area and exhausted himself he was having such an enjoyable time. Subsequently, he has experienced their training, grooming and boarding services. Over several months, I have noticed a pattern - his tail starts wagging the moment we pull into the car park. He can't wait to enter the reception area. He goes off with a member of staff wagging his tail and without a backward glance to me. When I pick him up, he is a happy little chap who appears to have had a very good time. His loves their grooming service and always looks great. I have been very pleased with the care and attention my dog has received there. Not only that, but many of my neighbors tell me they have used Kennelwood for donkeys years. The staff are caring and professional and you can't fool a Westie. They may be cute little bundles of fluff but underneath all that, they are 100% terrier and as smart as they come. If he didn't enjoy his visits, I would definitely know. Therefore, I am happy to recommend Kennelwood as it was recommended to me by multiple neighbors in my street.. more

We boarded our two dogs here - an older pug and a young chihuahua - and picked them up on 8/4/11 and they both have kennel cough and the pug esp. is very sick. Apparently a lot of dogs have gotten sick. The pug also came home with a bladder infection. Kennelwood refunded half our boarding fee but were pretty cavalier (like hey it happens) and didn't even ask how our dogs were doing. Our dogs have all their vaccinations - we have used kennelwood for years but would never use them again more

I took my 15 month old and 4 month old puppies to be boarded for the first time and they both came back with KENNEL COUGH. My puppies had all of the required shots and were perfectly healthy when I dropped them off and 4 days later they are both sick. Kennelwood did agree to return my boarding fees but could care less that the dogs were sick and questioned if they got sick at a dog park perhaps. NO....THEY GOT SICK B/C THEY WERE BOARDED AT KENNELWOOD. more

we love kennelwood! Our dogs get so excited when they know we are pulling onto their driveway. They go all the time for day camp and they can't wait to go in and see all their friends! The staff are friendly and I know they love my dogs-it shows! more

Kennelwood Kratky location took wonderful care of both our dogs. Took them in for grooming. 7 month old Goldendoodle's first time & they called to ask if she had been groomed before as she was so well behaved. When I came to pick her up she was beautiful. She sat up almost as to say "Thankyou." And that said it all. Her second visit she couldn't wait to go with Jill. And again came out lookging amazing. Great care & grooming. My puppy has enjoyed Kennelwood's free puppy play time (first Wednesday of the month) and grooming service. \r \r First time he was absolutely exhaused after racing around their brand new play area and had received his first professional grooming. The member of staff who clerked him in wanted to see his puppy shot certificates from my vet and I was told over the phone Bortetella vaccine etc was required which my dog had already received. I drove back to Kennelwood to watch him at playtime from the car park. He seemed to be having the time of his life chasing around with a couple of other doggie friends. There were plenty of staff there. It was great that the playtime and grooming are free for pups.\r \r When we arrived the next month, as soon as we pulled up outside, his tail was wagging nineteen to the dozen. Adequate for cat boarding (unfortunately, there's nothing in the US like British catteries, where the cats actually have room to run around) but if you ask for grooming, make sure they've actually done it. I got home--30 miles away--before I realized they had charged me for a nail trim and file that they hadn't actually done. Drag. more

I have just recently lost one of my best friends and was looking for another friend to join my family. A neighbor recommended Kennelwood and their pet matcher Patty, to help look for the perfect pet for me. I went on their website and filled out the requested information and was contacted the next day with three type of dogs I was looking for. One of the dogs was named Baby Girl ( that used to be my dogs nickname), It was just the type of dog I was looking for and you couldn?t find a more gorgeous one. So my family and I went to the location where she was being foster and we fell in love with her immediately. Patty had got me connected to a another dog (family member) that was exactly what I was looking for. The service was fast and Patty was fantastic to work with. I wanted a dog but just didn't know where to begin my search. Patty the Pet Matchmaker, referred me to some breeeders and gave me a list of questions to interview these breeders. I learned alot from those questions and got the dog I've always wanted! more

I contacted Patty the Pet Matchmaker at Kennelwood, after seeing an excellent presention at UMSL by Sue Schulze. Patty helped me research breeds and decide on the type of dog I wanted. Patty and Sue were both great. I bombarded them with questions and they were always so kind and helpful. \r Thanks to their help I did adopt a wonderful dog named Izzy from the Humane Society. She loves Kennelwood, especially Doggy Day Care. I appreciated the assessment they did of her, and the pictures taken on her first visit. I liked that the play was supervised and they had both outdoor and indoor facilities for the dogs. I am really glad I discovered Kennelwood and am grateful for all the help they have given me. more
