This is my 2nd home purchase and my 1st with Horizon. I went through USAA the first time and they were really good, as they usually are (for military folks). But I wanted to shop around a bit more to see what other rates were available since rates are so low right now. When I Google'd other mortgage processors, I found Horizon, who had really good reviews. After calling them the first time, I spoke with Rhonda Cameron, I knew they were the ones that we would go through - period. Every time I called their office, SOMEONE answered. I never had to speak to an automated service...mainly because they don't have one. If for some reason, and this was rare, that I had a question and their voicemail picked up, they always called me back - the same day! Rhonda and her loan processor Donna Duckett were so quick to respond to my emails as well - usually within seconds, not minutes. I have told everyone I work with how good they are, and I have convinced them to use Horizon. Although I hope I don't have to move again, if I do, Horizon will be my mortgage processor, and I won't even shop around. They make it too easy to go elsewhere. I was very happy with the customer service I received from Mike Owens and LeighAnne Langston. I was very UNhappy with the appraisal company that was selected. Please know that we are not allowed to "choose" the appraisers anymore due to federal regulations. Appraisers are chosen through an appraisal management system at random. You may have been more satisfied with the appraiser if Horizon were allowed to chose the appraiser for you. more

This was the second time in the past two years that we sought out Mike Owens to help with loan decisions. Both times he and the staff provided outstanding customer service. Communication was especially outstanding...keeping us posted on all the needed paperwork and steps for the process. We communicated by phone, e-mail and text. I doubt that it could be matched my any other company. more

We never had used a online broker before for our financing needs so in the beginning we were a little bit hestitant about using a company we only 'know' from the Internet for helping us to refinance our existing mortgage. First, Horizon Financial was willing to assist me with a HARP refi when my mortgage holder was not. That was excellent. Mike Owens was an outstanding mortgage planner to work with. He returned all my calls and emails promptly and patiently and provided me with all the information I needed/requested without ever being pushy. He was knowledgable about competing rates and packages and was able to provide me with a very competitive offer. He estimated my out-of-pocket closing costs and honored that verbal estimate (by making up the difference) when my actual closing costs were significantly higher. The only reason an excellent rating wasnt given for each category was the length of time without communication while the process was in underwriting. Wasn't happy about direct deposit costing $30 either. more
