They Are Rip Off's 5/14/2014

Halls Water is not the best! I have read a lot of reviews, & I agree the are ripping people off. We have had their water for over 10 years now. Our water bill's no matter what we do are 100+, this past one was $80.00 it is just my self & my husband. There's no-way just the two of us should get bills like that. Something needs to be done.If you just average our bill rounding it at 100.00 a month for 10 years that is 12,000 during that time. There has to be something in this area that people can do. Where is all the money going? I would be all for a protest. more

KUB customer shares same pain!!! 3/23/2013

hey this goes to Betsie...just a correction on your statement about KUB. we here in the KUB district are also feeling your pain on there recently raised rates. Our family of 3, the 3rd being a 2yr old, had to fork out 388.48 for the billing month of 1/31/13-2/28/13, and thats not washing cars or watering anything, and no washing machine. 200 of that is water!!! KUB is def NOT 10-15 dollars a month. i wish! And to top it off when we first moved in our toilet was leaking. we recieved a first bill of $622, meaning 422 of that was utilities. we had the problem fixed and the next month was 200 less...but they cannot apply a credit until you have been a customer for 6 months. bunch of BULL if you ask me!!! So now we are facing a disconnect on monday and was wondering if anyone has ever gotten away with starting a new account under someone else??? thats about our only option because they couldnt wait until this friday when i get paid! figures! please let me know we have until monday morning. more

Water or Groceries 9/3/2012

I have been outraged by Hallsdale Powell for years. We have been customers for 7 years now and have always paid over 100.00 a month. I have a family of four. We don't water our lawn, we don't wash our cars, but I'm paying an arm and leg for these theives to put money in their pockets. I bet the president of Hallsdale doesn't' have any problem paying his bill. A couple of times I was 2 weeks late paying our bill and they came out and cut it off. I had to pay 40.00 to have it cut back on. We did not have a past due bill. I wonder how many more people have had this done. I am all for a protest, just let me know when and I can round up more people. It is rediculous that you work your but off every day and all your money has to go to Hallsdale or Kub. And I can't imagine how hard it is for people on fixed incomes. We need to do something about it and show Hallsdale that they are not goin to push us around anymore. If it was possible to give Hallsdale Powell a lower rating, I would.Our bill, for a family of 4, averages $175/mo.Most of the time, I don't even talk to people about how high our bill is, because they don't believe me, or think we MUST have a leak.I have talked to neighbors, and they have the same bill as we do.What's really sad, is that we previously lived about 2 miles down the road and had an average water bill of $30/mo.We would love to do whatever it takes to protest this terrible 'company',but I don't know when we would have time for that..we have to work our 40hrs/wk,and then work most wknds,just to attempt to make ends meet. Last month, even after working almost every wknd(my husband&I both),we still weren't able to pay our water bill on time.It was already past due,with a minimum due of $334 just to get it turned back on. We were w/o water for almost 2days before we could pay it,and now we will owe $40more for the cutoff fee this month. This is rape,but how do we fight against more

You want ME to pay the deadbeat former owner's bill!?! 3/7/2012

Here's the deal, I just bought a home in Halls. We closed yesterday and today, I contacted these peeps so I could get the water turned on. They refused! Said that there was an outstanding debt of over $200 owed by the prior owners and if I wanted the water turned on, I'd either have to pay THEIR DEBT, or find them and compel them to pay it. I purchased the property from HUD, who had foreclosed on deadbeat prior owners over a year ago. I don't even know their name and quite frankly could care less. These people at Hallsdale-Powell Utility District are scumbags that are trying to hold me hostage. It's like the mafia. What's worse, the attorney who handled the closing is acting like he knows nothing and can do nothing. limberdick. Well, I guess I'll go cut their dam lock off myself more

PROTEST HPUD!!! 8/18/2011

I would MOST DEFINITELY participate in a protest. If you are serious about this, let's not take it lightly. We can start a Facebook page, post flyers throughout the area, etc. They need to know that we're not messing around. I'm moving out of the area in the next 6 months regardless, but I'm SO upset with them that I would still protest. My in-laws are a family of 11 and their water bill is lower than mine. We are a family of 4.\r \r What a horrible company!!! more

This company is raping its customers and building a huge new building with our dollars. I am going to organize a protest at Hallsdale Powell Utility for sometime this summer. If we can get enough people to NOT pay their water bill on the same month and turn up at their door demanding fair rates I think they would have to listen. I dont know what people do on a fixed income when every month you get a $100.00 or more water bill. How can they charge these rates and KUB only charge $10.00-$15.00 per month. Who will participate in this?? more

I hope the people that are running this place has all the bad luck a family can receive.They don't care about anyone.They are rude smartass people and are absolutly not concerned over the rising water rates, it all boils down to the old man that is still in control even in retirement and none of the board members has the balls to stand up to him and work for the poor people.They know its not them living on a fixed income and can't even afford water so what the hell.Curses to the lot of you.I HATE HALLSDALE POWELL AND ESPECIALLY THE OLD MAN THAT WILL ANSWER FOR HIS DOINGS TO A GREATER POWER .This just in they cut off my sisters water a 67 yr old handicap grandmother taking care of her mentally handicap grandson all alone and she just moved to the area and her bill was due on the 3rd she had to wait until she got her check so she sent money order on the 4th and they were there on the 4th and turned off her water I found her crying and I turned water back on until Monday I HATE THEM I HOP more

is there anyone out there who can stop this rip off company from stealing from us month after month? i too find ironic that my water bill is $171 and my electric bill is $131, family of 4 taking 4 showers a day, no bath, no leak, no car washing, not even started to water the flower bed or improving my lawn. this is outrageous, please help and do something about it! more

I agree with all these reviews.Do the Beverly Hillbillies run it and Mr Drysdale own it???My waterline was worked on today and I was given no notice.Thats ok.I was blocked in.That was ok.As I watched and waited for them to finish,I noticed the dozer driver throw at least 3 plastic drink bottles in the hole.Then they threw sand and some of my dirt to cover it up.So I now have plastic containers next to my waterline.I'm not sure if this cold be a hazard but it's tacky as all get out.Plus the big dirt hill I hope they will be moving.HALLSDALE-POWELL CLEAN IT UP!!! more

I have to believe that the rates that Hallsdale-Powell Utility charges have to be illegal. Does anyone know where we can start to file an official complaint with the state of Tennessee? I guess we can start by writing our congressman, because right now my husband and I are both working and can pay the ridiculous bill. However, I know that there are many folks that would not be able to pay for the outrageous water/sewer bill. We are starting to think of moving outside of the area since we are going to be retiring soon, and may not be able to fit "WATER in Halls" in our budget!!!! Wow! I can?t believe how much this company charges. more

People that can stand there jobs 10/15/2010

I went to halls to pay my water bill this week, I forgot my bill at home so I had to go inside to the window, big mistake, when I told the woman behind the window I forgot my bill, she looked at me like I was crazy, then she made a face at me an said, some people should be aloud to pay bills! Then after she finally come back to the window, when my bill she acted like I was taking up to much of her time! Hallsdale powell , you need to remember who pays your bills, we do! Get the older people that can stand there job out of your business, before halls gets ride of you! more

HPUD is the worst utility service! 9/30/2010

Not only are these guys crooks they NEVER even read my meter! It has been covered in grass for months. The last time I dug into it, which was months ago, the lens was completely covered with dirt! It was impossible to read. If you did not know where the cover was in my yard you could nolt find the cover for the hole. When I confronted then about this condition after I paid my first of many $150.00 monthly bills they looked at me and told me there was no way they didn't read my meter! They are complete crooks. Water that tastes so bad you can't drink it for $150.00 / month! God will deal with these @$$'s one of these days! more

Customer Service Complaint 9/21/2010

This company has the worst customer service of any company I've talked to in years. I have 30 years experience in customer service so I'm not a novice in this area. I would of fired most of the woman I've spoken with on the phone. They are not helpful. Certainly don't go out of their way for you and most of the are demeaning when they speak to you. I think it's time to clean house, or get some customer service training. more

They have the most outrageous water rates 9/15/2010

I have just moved into this utilities district. I certainly have to agree with all previous reviewers that this is a very unprofessional and run-down company. Their office tells it all. However, the water rates are plain outrageous. The sewage charge seems only(!) around 20% more expansive than surrounding counties. But the water rates are unbelievable. Knox Utilities Board charges $10.00 below 1500 gallons, $3.20 for each additional 750 gallons (outside city rates), in the Clinton Utilities district it looks similar, although their info on the internet is a bit outdated. Hallsdale-Powell takes $19.49 below 1500, $7.18 each additional1000 gallons. Compared to KUB this is a surplus of 95% in minimal charge and almost 70% per 1000 gallons. I can perhaps even understand the higher minimal charge, but why this ridiculous rate per 1000 gallons? Does water become such much more precious when it crosses county lines? Hardly in TN, I would say. I wonder if such prices are actually legal and if there is something we can do... more

They discriminate the poor!! 6/28/2010

these people have no morals. They cut my water off because I could not pay$150 per month on a bill where my water line broke. I paid them 4 times on it and asked last month for a week because my SSI check was less and they cut it off. They are a bunch of crooks. I hope they get a taste of how they treat their customers. Those women that work behind the counter are worse. I tested them one month. I went in there dressed like a businessman one month and they all went out of their way to wait on me. Another month I wore my scruffy cloths and I had to wait forever and they were rude. Another words if you have money you are treated with respect down there, if you are poor like me they are a bunch of #%&*$@#*! more
