Genz-Ryan Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, & Electrical

Genz-Ryan came to certify a furnace for a City of Richfield point of sale inspection.  Ricki and his partner Dan took less than an hour to claim the following work needed to be performed to certify the furnace.   Blower motor amperage was low : -When asked where the amperage guidelines were found they said the internet; however they could produce no make or model number for the blower motor so we could verify. Exhaust piping must be replaced by double wall piping to be up to code: -No such code exists for currently installed furnaces Laundry tub must be removed for proximity to furnace per code: -No such code exists for currently installed furnaces The quote for all this work was $1800 sort of.  When asked for a specific quote they couldn't provide one right then; unless were going to do the work.  We were told the quote would be emailed the next morning.  When we called three days later having not received either an invoice or a quote we talked to a manager Jeff.  He had limited information about our appointment.  The information he had didn't show that we had been given an $1800 "quote".  When we continued to ask tough questions about the specifics of his technicians report to us he finally hung up.   It took 3 weeks for an invoice for the very unethical visit, which my 74 year old mother in law on SSI paid $189 for, to be delivered by email.  No quote was provided, just a $189 furnace inspection visit that said the furnace had failed. We had another HVAC contractor out later that week to certify the furnace and confirmed there were no code violations and the amperage testing they did was bogus. That visit was $159. more

we have been a customer of Genz Ryan since 1999. Recently I had a new AC installed from them. I later on found out about the model was ANX13 at a price of $5,687.00 with instatallation and duct cleaning. The manufacturer sells the same model with installation for a little over $3,000.00. I have called Genz Ryan on the phone several times about the big discrepancy with no response from them at all. I understand the profit motive but not to that extent!!!. They could have given me a little higher quality with the same price. Now i am stuck with a payment plan for a full one year. It makes me feel bad that I had such confidence in their service, and now I feel the customer does not matter at all! more

On December 30, 2014 we were lucky enough to have Matt M. do our yearly plumbing inspection. He arrived promptly at 8 am and immediately began an extremely thorough examination of our entire house checking for ALL possible plumbing related issues. (Toilets, sinks, water heater and laundry room) Matt not only checked on our list of concerns but also went above and beyond our expectations and fixed a problem with our dishwasher that I wouldn't have assumed was automatically included in the service. Another "Matt miracle" was unclogging a drain and then hooking the same drain back up despite missing a part so it will now have less of a tendency to clog in he future. While installing our water filters he noticed that our garbage disposal had gone from bad (last year's checkup) to worse (now leaking). We really appreciated his professional advice on our options without any misleading "hard sell" techniques that too often are used by unscrupulous service providers. Instead Matt helpfully explained the pros & cons of different disposals and installed one that would best fit our needs. I don't know whether I'm more impressed with his professionalism or the friendly conversations that accompany it? He even remembered specifics about my kids and their interests from his previous visit a year ago. Such attention to detail and personalized service certainly speaks volumes on not only Matt but Genz Ryan as well. I can't recommend him more highly and will request his service in the future. From the time he stepped into the house until he departed, he was courteous, attentive to our questions and needs and delivered beyond what was asked. He came in response to a Groupon promotion, a tune-up for our HVAC systems. He was professional and complete in his work. We are more than satisfied with his job. He then discovered a further problem we are having in the cooling system.He explained the difficulty. He then returned another day and gave us options to correct the problem. He again, took the time to explain these options so we could make an informed decision. We called Genz-Ryan for an estimate on replacing our 2 19 year old Lennox ACs. Noah is a technician and sales rep in one. When we told him our story of woe-how a Sedgewick technician on a pre-paid maintance plan call had so disabled our larger AC that even a more experienced Sedgewick tech could not unravel the mess-Noah just said, let's see, Then in short order he resolved the problem. We still need 2 new Acs but the decision just got really easy. He was professional in his advice honest about his recommendations and why he he was making those recommendations for our home. We had never done business with Genz-Ryan before but Noah was outstanding in everything he said and did at our home yesterday. I would strongly recommend Genz-Ryan simply on the professionalism of Noah Fieldseth. more

I am very satisfied with the tuneup and service completed at my home. The technician called when on his way advising when he expected to arrive. The tuneup was explained to me and completed. The technician advised of a part that was showing burned contacts. I elected to have the part replaced and all work was completed and tested in a short period of time. more

If I could give them no stars, I would. They were either deceptive or mistaken about their geothermal expertise, as everything about our system needs to be reworked...the loopfield, the piping, the pumping, the equipment sizing, and the air handler installation. If you choose to use this company, you should insist on a detailed written contract that includes a binding arbitration clause. We were way too trusting, and have been way too patient, and 4 years later we still don't have resolution. more

Going the extra mile. David B came on time and not only fixed the faucets but did a complete home inspection. He was very thorough and professional in determining what might have caused the failure. My house is only 3 years old and he was concerned there might be something causing the premature leaking. He concluded the water was fine and that the issue was most likely caused by original installation heating of the pipes with the cartridge installed. Bottom line - I plan to use Genz-Ryan for any future plumbing issues. more

Hello, Tom R. was my service technician today. Tom analyzed my water heater situation and asked me what I would like to do. He gave me several options to choose from...from repair to replacement with warranty options to service plan options. He addressed them all but ultimately let me make the decision that was right for me. I decided to go with a new water heater. Tom was able to install it right away, today! Tom did a very nice job of installing, he made improvements along the way including a water pan and pipe to my drain. Tom was careful not to damage my floors, etc., very conscientious! Tom is very knowledgeable. Tom also pointed out to me the basic things I should know about my new water heater. On top of everything, Tom was a lot of fun to work with!! Today Matt M. came out to my house for a preventative plumbing appointment. According to the service plan I had, he flushed the water heater, checked the toilets, the water softener and other items (besides fishing a foreign article out of my new garbage disposal). I also wanted a new shower head and the bathroom faucet fixed. He first explained 5 different price options, without putting any pressure on me to get the highest priced option. Then he installed everything in an efficient manner, again explaining what he was doing. The "frosting on the cake" is that he was a very friendly, easy-going guy and an excellent service professional. Thanks, Matt! more
