WOW 1/25/2003

We went to the Flying Fish restaurant for my mother's birthday. Let me tell you it was quite the delightful experience for all of us. My mother was really impressed. The staff there took very good care of us. We were given a whole fried rockfish as a complimentary dish from the chef. Wow! It was great. The ambiance was great, as well as all the food. This was a dinner we will never forget. . more

Small Servings 1/20/2003

Food is excellent, but you'll need to order an appetizer and 1.5 entrees for a dinner for two adults. Portions are delectable, but miniscule. The chanterelle risotto is not to be missed! Staff is amazingly friendly, courteous and professional. They lost my reservation, (so annoying), but seated my party quickly after arriving. Pros: Tasty, Friendly Cons: Small portions, Costly more

Where's the beef? 12/26/2002

People have raved about the Flying Fish. I just had to check it out for myself. My dinner partner and I decided to share some of the smaller platters. The lobster and crab ravioli was exactly that--a single ravioli. The smoked salmon was more like salmon jerky and was so salty, I had to ask for a second serving of creme fraiche and more bread! It was straight out of a movie--two people are at dinner and when their food is served, it's the size of a dime. It really was too bad. The food was decent but not worth the price and the atmosphere didn't even make up for it. My advice: Try the sister restaurant, Fandango's, instead. The chipolte shrimp is fabulous. Pros: trendy Cons: trendy more

A hip and comfortable standby 12/18/2002

We have been going to the Flying Fish since it opened and it has become our favorite restaurant in Belltown. The atmosphere is both hip and comfortable at the same time - you can people watch or have a private conversation in a booth. The food is terrific - especially if you share everything. We have never ordered individual entrees. Much more fun to pick several items and pass them around! Also, a great place for a late night meal since they are open until 1 -even on weeknights! more

Restaurant of my dreams 12/13/2002

My recent trip to Seattle was made especially memorable by the wonderful dinners I had here. Gene is an absolute angel, and Donna could not have given better service. Even the hostes made me feel that she was glad to have me there! The food is exceptional, prepared with fresh, flavorful ingredients to the highest standards. I haven't eaten or been treated so well in years. If you love to eat wonderful food, eat at Flying Fish!!! more

I had high expectations when sitting down at the nicely appointed Flying Fish. The food was exciting to look at but bland tasting. The drinks and oysters on the half shell were very good. The lobster was overcooked and rubbery. The eggrolls were equally bad. Small portions, over priced. This may be a good place for drinks and people watching. Pros: Good drinks, Nicely decorated Cons: Bad food more
