Great restaurant. Terrific service. Extraordinarily tasty fish. Delectable huckleberry caramelized creme brulee and fudge brownies to die for. Pros: Wonderful food Cons: n...

I had high expectations when sitting down at the nicely appointed Flying Fish. The food was exciting to look at but bland tasting. The drinks and oysters on the half shell were ...

Not nearly worth the wait or the price. 2/27/2005

Arrived on-time for an 8:45 reservation & treated like cattle when told "it would be awhile" & shoved with other waiting patrons into the tiny bar/entry area. Treated very rudely by both bartenders, so we opted to stand in the cold entry - finally seated (starving/frustrated) one hour late!! Asian & comfort food menu has no rhyme or reason and if you don't like spicy foods (according to our waiter) it eliminates all seafood options except two. The costly food was mediocre at best - cold sides, tasteless fish & unexciting presentation. It seemed like a good place to come if you are gay because you'd get the bartender's/waiter's full attention while the other patrons get little more than the bill. Finally, it was not comfortable - with people waiting for tables crowded around those actually seated, no one had any space to relax and enjoy. Pros: good sized salads Cons: rude staff, tasteless food, not worth the $ more

Will never go back 1/30/2005

I would never go back to this place again. Though the ambience was good and the place trendy, the food was bad. The salad was swimming in oil and I couldn't eat it. The salmon cost $27 and was bland. To top it all off the service was horrible. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Overpriced, Mediocre food, Bad Service more

Chic Late Night Seafood Joint 1/28/2005

FF is still putting out top notch seafood dishes served with an Asian flare after more than a decade. FF serves food late and you'll be hard pressed to find a better choice past 10pm in this town. Menu changes daily to accentuate freshness. FF also serves a very decent steak as well as some incredible fried chicken if you are not in the mood for seafood. Pros: serves late, fresh menu, fried chicken! more

More like Dying Fish 7/19/2004

This is one of the worst places to eat in Seattle. They have messed up my reservations twice without apology and acted as if they were doing us a favor to "try and get us in" when I am the one who is paying $250 for a meal. I had the Salmon and my guests from CT had the Tuna. Both dishes lacked flavor, I do not understand how you can mess up Salmon in Seattle. If you want trendy and seafood walk across the street to the Dahlia Lounge or Queen City Grill. Cons: , Food, Hostess more

An Expensive Average Meal 5/31/2004

We were excited by the prospect of experiencing Flying Fish after hearing a positive review by a fellow passenger (native of Seattle) on our flight from NYC. The service was pleasant enough, as it tends to be in this rainy City. And we got a seat after 20 minutes wait, when told it was a 10 minute wait (no big surprise) on the Sunday before Memorial Day. But the food was just not up to snuff. The baby spinach salad my wife ordered consisted of overly mature spinach leaves. My lobster bisque was just too busy with too many flavors competing for my attention. Then my main dish, scallops with risotto, arrived. There were only three paltry scallops and the risotto tasted more like brown rice. The kitchen staff definitely needs to be upgraded. I was very disappointed at what turned out to be an expensive average meal. Pros: Nice Staff, Pleasant atmosphere Cons: , Expensive more

Wonderful 3/19/2004

This place has been around for ten years plus and it's easy to see why. Fresh seafood with some of the most innovative preparation in Seattle, great bar and winelist, yet friendly and unpretentious. Only complaint is that sometimes it's too loud...also, if you order the platters, you can run up a big bill quickly. Pros: Food, Prepartion, Staff Cons: , Can get pricey more

Front Desk Fiasco 3/7/2004

We went to the Fish to celebrate V'Day. I had made a reservation a week ago. On V'day a lady called us from the Fish to confirm our reservation. We arrived for our 7.30 reservation an hour early and popped in just to see if they could seat us early. The front desk "Lady" was rude and told us we do not have a res implying that we were crashing. We were flabbergasted by the way she was interrogating us like a cop,as to the time of the call etc....soon our magical night was turning sour...FInally a second female at the desk decided that there was a seat for us and asked the "lady" to seat us... she lead us to our table without a word scowling and shaking her head... However the night was saved by a great Waiter with a wonderful sense of humor... more
